Calvin's Captains

Calvin’s Captains – Rd. 22

Calvin has a very solid top-5 for round 22 with the top-3 set to be the most popular picks for the round ahead.

Legends… welcome back to the greatest captain picking tips in all of the land. Below you can see the damage from round 21. Some elite but some others flopped hard (looking at you Dunkley).

No. 1 – Adam Treloar – 116 ✅
No. 2 – Tristan Xerri – 150 💥
No. 3 – Lachie Whitfield – 137 🔥
No. 4 – Sam Flanders – 63 🤕
No. 5 – Rowan Marshall – 131 🔥
No. 6 – Harry Sheezel – 100 🤏
No. 7 – Josh Dunkley – 83 ❄️
No. 8 – Tom Stewart – 107 🤏
No. 9 – Andrew Brayshaw – 109 🤏
No. 10 – Dayne Zorko – 105 🤏

Good luck this week guys. Make sure you have your VC and C lined-up perfectly so you can maximise those points in this very important area. As I said, I have a huge amount of confidence in my top-3 this week as they all are capable of 150-plus. Good luck and I hope you nail a ripper.

CALVIN’S TOP-5 CAPTAINS

🏴‍☠️ 1 – Xerri v WCE
@ Blundstone, SAT 1:45pm

Xerri scored 129 against Flynn/Williams in round 13 and heads back to Hobart where he has scored 150 (Geel), 120 (Port) and 83 (Adel) this year. He’s coming off back to back 150’s and even had 94 (Grundy), 118 and 129 prior to that. Earlier in the year, Williams was a tricky match-up for some but recently we have seen Witts 141, Darcy 88, Marshall 118 and McInerney 98 all score well against him.

AFL 2023 Round 20 - West Coast v North Melbourne - A-41513025

🏴‍☠️ 2 – Marshall v RICH
@ Marvel, SUN 3:20pm

Rucks against Nank haven’t stuggled with Xerri 150, Sweet 91, Briggs 140 and Jackson 104 (Gawn 134 and English 109 earlier in the year) all scoring well. Marshall played Nank in round 4 and had 136, and last year he even had 131. Marshall’s form has been elite with 131, 135, 118 and 150. He’s back under the roof where he has averaged 118 this year.

Photographers Choice - AFL 2023 Round 14 - A-40145267

🏴‍☠️ 3 – Gulden v COLL
@ SCG, FRI 7:40pm

The Swans stink but Gulden is still scoring…. 101, 114, 113 and 151 in his last four. Collingwood gave Newman 145 (12m) and Walsh 130 (10m) plenty of the pill with bulk marks last week (big key) and Gulden returns home where he has averaged 116 this year. He scored 111 against Collingwood earlier this year at the MCG and even had 161 against them last year.

AFL 2024 Round 01 - Collingwood v Sydney - A-46495306

🏴‍☠️ 4 – Whitfield v BRIS
@ GABBA, SAT 1:45pm

I’m torn on Whitfield this week but need to keep backing him in. Defenders don’t really cash in against the Lions. However, he hasn’t failed me and has now scored 137, 127, 145 and 132 in his last four. He had 105 (Manuka) against the Lions earlier this year and only managed 81 (Manuka) last season. I’ll keep whipping this horse until he fails.

AFL 2024 Round 07 - GWS v Brisbane - A-48188861

🏴‍☠️ 5 – Brayshaw v GEEL
@ Optus, SAT 4:35pm

Geelong are an ‘easy’ team on the scale and against ‘easy’ teams this year, Brayshaw as been elite scoring 120, 96 (Melbourne), 146, 125 (Rich), 115, 93 (West Coast) and 109 (Collingwood). Back at Optus… he’ll go to another level where he has recently scored 115, 120, 146, 136 and 109.

AFL 2023 Round 10 - Walyalup v Geelong - A-38275406

ALSO CONSIDER…

Dayne Zorko at home has averaged 127 this year and 125 in his last four games. Coming off scores of 105, 139 and 131 he needs to be considered. Karl Amon 124 (9m) was great last week off half-back against the Giants. However, they are still rated ‘red’ on the scale.

Jack Steele and Jack Sinclair should be great against Richmond, a match up we still chase. Steele scored 131 against them in round 4 and is coming off scores of 108, 112 and 133. He’s back taking marks and so is Sinclair who hits this gold match-up at the right time. He scored 105 against the Tigers in round 4 and is coming off a nice 132.

Harry Sheezel plays the Eagles and is coming off 100, 118 and 134… he should score well in Hobart where he has played there three times this year averaging 116.

AFL 2024 Round 13 - St Kilda v Gold Coast - A-50680169

Where was your comment beforehand? Old hindsight hero! If Steele Sidebottom ragging was on your radar, you could’ve made yourself look like a legend on here.

Head to captainschallenge.com each week and put a top 5 in the and see how you go over the course of a season.

That wasn’t really a bite … more keen on people joining the Captain’s Challenge so when they chirp, they’ve got something to back it up with!

Maybe we let virgin posters keep talking without calling them out?

Xerri getting dominated lads. Seems Clarkson has preferred Teakle in the ruck today. Did we pick the wrong captain

brayshaw struggling to get in the game, is the pace too much for him ? Is the pressure of finishing top 4 in his mind ? Is he worthy of being captain this week ? I’m not sure
