Good evening one and all… welcome back to Calvin’s Captains for round 10. I have some rippers for you and last week my top-10 (which can be found at over at our patreon) was hitting sixes. My top-5 averaged 124 and that was with old mate Zach Merrett and his dirty 87.
Good luck this week and a special shout out to the legends at Patreon who allow us the time to prodcude the content that we do. Thanks guys.
CALVIN’S TOP-5 CAPTAINS
No. 1 – English v GWS
@ ENGIE, SAT 4:35pm
With previous scores of 109, 126, 141 and 128 it’s going to be hard to look past big Tim. Recent rucks to battle the Giants have been good with Goldy 82, Grundy 134 and Fort 92 (McInerney DNP) scoring better than what you would expect for them. English played the Giants twice last year for scores of 153 (against Briggs) and 151 (against Flynn).
No. 2 – Dunkley v RICH
@ GABBA, SAT 7:30pm
Midfielders rack up against the Tigers and last week, the three main Dogs with the most CBAs averaged 140 to be amongst the 7×100+ scores. Dunkley is coming off 114 and 151 and at the GABBA this year he has scored 151, 90 and 101. The match-up is one of the best for this week and can not be ignored.
No. 3 – Merrett v KANG
@ Marvel , SUN 1:10pm
Merrett scored 90 (tagged by Taylor) and 155 in this game last year and the match-up is an exciting one for his owners. His 87 last week was disappointing but before that he did have 110 and 125. From his three games at Marvel this year he has only averaged 100, but this match-up is too good too ignore.
No. 4 – Marshall v FREO
@ Marvel , SAT 7:30pm
Marshall’s scores at Marvel this year… 117, 62 and 117. He is coming off 163 and 117… and must be considered with a big job this week based on form alone. Let’s have a look at what rucks have been scoring against the Dockers. Grundy 83 (against LJ), Nank 70 (LJ/SD), English 141 (LJ/SD). Back the big man in… or use the VC to have an early look.
No. 5 – Gawn v WCE
@ Optus , SUN 6:20pm
109 and 92 are Max’s last scores and they are a long way off the 134, 149, 109 and 146 he had before that. Now, Max didn’t play the Eagles in 2023, instead Grundy went solo for 119. Recent rucks to play against Bailey Williams have all scored well… Cameron 91 , Goldy 82, Witts 135, Darcy 94. Max Gawn will be fine and a great fall back option.
CHASE THE VC-CEILING
Jordan Dawson v Collingwood – Dawson has been in great form also scoring 118, 100, 125 and 155 in his last four games and last year against Collingwood he scored a huge 172 (at the MCG) and 112. Strongly consider!
Nic Martin v Kangaroos – Coming off 121 and 119, Martin must be looked at here. But how do half-backers go against the Roos? Martin is one to consider with scores of 121 (GWS), 85 (WB) and 145 (STK) under the roof this year… that’s an average of 117.
Dayne Zorko v Richmond – Last week against the Tigers… Treloar 154, Richards 141, Harmes 134 and Bont 126 all went nuts and before that Ryan 161, Serong 141, Brayshaw 125 and Young 125 did the same. At the GABBA this year Zorko has posted 184, 127 and 102.
