Welcome to the 2024 AFL season with AFL Fantasy NOT ACTUALLY STARTING. Round 0!!! What the actual **** is going on? We have 4 games with Swans vs Dees, Lions vs Blues, Suns vs Tigers and GWS vs Pies. These games don’t count towards your scores for the year, and you have unlimited trades up until round 1. They are like another round of pre season games, but with a twist. Although the scores don’t count, the scores will ultimately influence the price change at the end of round 1 (In other words round 0 teams will get a double round 0 and round 1 score price adjustment). The other catch is these round 0 players will all have an early bye and therefore 1 less scoring game in Fantasy then every other team. (but with a top 18 score cover just like byes in the past). Lots to wrap your head around!
Thursday – Early news
More news before final teamsheet, it has been confirmed Dustin Martin is out for round 0, and Collingwood has announced rookie defender Charlie Dean (Def $200k) will debut. NOTE: You may have noticed that this year, 5 bench players are selected. Unfortunately new sub rules means one of the bench players will be selected as the sub just before each game.
Debut!
834 days after he was drafted, Charlie Dean will make his AFL debut.
Some early news, we get to see some rookies with Blake Howes (Def $200k) to debut, as well as Caleb Windsor (Mid/Fwd $282k). We also get to see cheap mid pricer Jack Billings (Fwd $538) club debut. Its also confirmed that we will see Naismith, Grundy and Jordan run out for their new clubs.
Howes about it?! ?????? Three debut Demons ready to give 'em hell.
Remaining weekend teamsheets Teamsheets ~6:20pm EST Thursday
Sunday games Extended bench selection ~5:00pm EST Friday
GAME 1: SWANS vs DEES
Thurs March 7 , 7:30pm EST SCG
Notes: As noted above Caleb Windsor, Jack Billings, Blake Howes are new faces at the dees, and we also get a look at Clayton Oliver after an interupted pre-season. Similarly for the swans we will get a look at James Jordon and Brodie Grundy.
The final teams are in for #AFLSwansDees and there are no changes.
Notes:Orazio Fantasia is an interesting club debut for the blues. At a bargain $269k if he holds a spot with a good role could be another good cashcow option for a seasoned player. Another popular cashcow rookie Kai Lohman is named on the bench and could be selected as the sub, which could ruin his money making ability. We also get a chance to look at popular mid priced option in defence in Zac Williams.

A windy cold day in 2015, I was bored, sick with the flu, and decided to start a blog about Teamsheets. I was immediately recruited by Warnie and somehow am now a DTTALK author.
NOTE; Im Back in 2022! woooo

AFL Fantasy starts from Round 1 in 2024. It does not include scores from fixtures in the Opening Round, and players will not lock out during the Opening Round.
The way I read that, is price changes (and BE’s) would come into effect after completion of Rd1?
Can we get Bonnor if we want Jackson or would it be better to get someone else

Lads, not much of a question, more a thought but naming 5 on the bench and naming the sub from that 5 an hour before the match is going to be terribly annoying for us this year. A lot of lade trades or substitutes I suspect.

Don’t know what else I can do…
Any help would be great.
Def: Sheez, Stewart, Young, Salem, ZWill, Coffield (Reid, Schoenmaker)
Mid: Merrett, Green, Steele, Martin, Crouch, Wines, Mckercher, Sanders (Sharp, Clark)
Ruc: Gawn, Grundy (Barnett)
Fwd: Fisher, Fyfe, Jordon, Sexton, Reid, Lazaro (Windsor, Wilson)
Utl: Roberts
Honestly think this looks great. Not too concentrated on any OR byes and good mix of premiums, value picks, and rookies. Only thing I’d say is to find a spot for Roberts on your field (maybe for McKercher given the matchups), he played well and is likely to line up again given the Swans midfield outs. Can always make that call after R1 though

can we get some better clarity on the breakevens for the round 0 players :)
Good question. Honestly I don’t know. I’m just going to watch round 0, and see if that changes the BE of players on the AF website.

All the best for the season
Thanks Bopper, that’s handy to know, cheers.

Don’t know if I’ve spent too much on rooks
