Dustin Martin vs Caleb Daniel w/ Jordox | AFL Fantasy 2024 Head2Head

Jordox joins Bails to chat about two forward premos you could consider in our weak forward lines!

Join me and special guest Jordox from The Coaches Panel in the next head to head battle between premium forwards Dustin Martin and Caleb Daniel. We discuss each player in depth and talk about their pros and cons, give our verdict on who we would pick out of the two players, and if we are keen on starting either player in our side.

Dustin Martin

After a few quieter years by his standards and a weak forward line, Dusty has become a genuine starting options for teams in 2024. Since 2019 where he averaged 96.8, his average dipped every season, 74.7 in 2020 (COVID so would be around 90 average), 81.1 in 2021 and 72.4 in 2022. Granted he did have some injuries to deal with across those three season, but he went back up in 2023, with an average of 90 from 20 games. The only trouble with starting him is his bye and likelihood of him not playing every game, but he has been touted to be spending much more time in the midfield this season, has been setting PB’s and having an awesome preseason, so could be a player we look at post his early bye, but some coaches will opt to start him due to a weak forward line.

Caleb Daniel

Caleb Daniel has frustrated coaches in the past, mainly for a couple of bad performances at Mars Stadium, but he needs to be firmly on our radars for a starting selection in 2024. In a line with not many options, Daniel could be the guy with most safety without an early bye. For the past five seasons, he has averaged over 87, with a career high average of 93.8 in 2019. With Bailey Smith out for the season, the talk has been he will spend more time in the midfield with the Dogs having a lot of options already in defence, and with Macrae’s hamstring niggles in the preseason, that’s another to assume Daniel will be playing midfield while rotating through the forward line. Will be firmly in the mix for a top 6 forward spot, and if he could go 95+, will likely be a top 3-4 forward depending on DPP additions.

I am a lover of all sports, especially the AFL. Some of the teams I support include the Adelaide Crows, Manchester United, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Rams just to name a few. I am also a big fan of fantasy sports, particularly AFL Fantasy and NFL Fantasy.
