Luke Davies-Uniacke vs Sam Walsh | AFL Fantasy 2024 Head2Head

Join me and special guest Mitch from Ball Boys AFL Fantasy in the next head to head battle between midfielders Luke Davies-Uniacke and Sam Walsh. We discuss each player in depth and talk about their pros and cons, give our verdict on who we would pick out of the two players, and if we are keen on starting either player in our side.

Luke Davies-Uniacke

It was frustrating year for LDU, who started well in the first two rounds with 108 and 123, only to be interrupted by a couple of injuries in Rounds 3 and 10. There were scores when he did play, but he just didn’t look right, and missed 6 weeks post Round 9 with a hamstring injury. When he returned, he was managed back with just a 63, but after that, looked like the LDU we expected, with scores of 122, 138, 104, 120, 82, and 107 for an average of 112.2. This is the LDU we hope to see for the full season in 2024, and as a potentially underpriced midfielder, could be a great pick for your starting side.

Sam Walsh

Sam Walsh had a delayed start t0 2023 after a back injury meant he didn’t really have a preseason and didn’t play until Round 5, where he actually scored 6 tons in his first 7 games. But from Round 12 onwards it wasn’t the Walsh we know, where he didn’t score a ton for the rest of the fantasy season, which included his missing Rounds 20-23, and he ended up averaging 94.6 from his 15 games. We know he is better than this, shown in the Finals last year where he scored 101, 140 and 105, while he also averaged a 109 in 2021. If he can get back to that average, present the value we look for in our starting picks as an underpriced midfielder, but does have the Round 2 bye, which makes it an interesting discussion as to whether you start him or not.
