Fantasy notes and injury updates – Rd. 4

Late changes, subs, injuries and more tracked in the weekly notes.

Warnie looks at a few of the key notes such as injuries and substitutes along with any key Fantasy stats of relevance from each game.

Thursday

Brisbane v Collingwood

Nick Daicos (126) can do what he wants. He switched forward in second half – kicked two goals, missed a couple – but it didn’t affect his scoring rate. Daicos’ quarter breakdowns were 38, 7, 42, 39.

Brisbane Deven Robertson (4th) Jack Gunston (tactical)
Collingwood Oleg Markov (3rd) Reef McInnes (tactical)

Friday

North Melbourne v Carlton

Sam Docherty (74) was the second most popular VC (14.2%) while plenty had him as C (4.6%) off the back of Calvin making him his No.1 option this week. He pushed up the ground more. The ‘more midfield time’ wasn’t great for him as he had 23% of Carltons… his most for the year.

BREAKING – Docherty will miss 4-6 weeks with a knee issue.

Harry Sheezel (119) now has four tons in a row to start his career.

Miller Bergman (illness) was a late out with Daniel Howe replacing him.

When Hugh Greenwood was subbed on, he scored 48 in 30% TOG.

Nick Larkey (hip) and Mitch McGovern (thigh) were listed as injured.

Harry McKay has been offered a week by the MRO for striking Sheezel.

Kangaroos Hugh Greenwood (3rd) Ben Cunnington (tactical)
Blues Jack Carroll (4th) Mitch McGovern (thigh)

Saturday

Adelaide v Fremantle

Jordan Dawson (122) played in the midfield before switching back late in the game. His QTR breakdowns were 29, 38, 29, 26.

Rory Laird (84) copped attention from James Aish.

Crows Harry Schoenberg (4th) Jordon Butts (tactical)
Dockers Nathan O’Driscoll (3rd) Matthew Johnson (tactical)

Richmond v Western Bulldogs

Jack Graham (hamstring) was subbed out for the Tigers.

Alex Keath (concussion) was subbed out for the Dogs.

Hayden Crozier (back) was put on ice in the 3rd after copping a knee to his back.

Tom Lynch (broken foot) spent 10 mins on the bench, but played out the game. He has also been referred directly to the tribunal for his contact with Graham.

Toby Nankervis (ankle) will have surgery for his syndesmosis injury which will see him out for the medium term.

Tigers Trent Cotchin (2nd) Jack Graham (hamstring)
Dogs Mitch Hannan (1st) Alex Keath (concussion)

St Kilda v Gold Coast

Big late out before the game started with Jarrod Witts (soreness) out with Ned Moyle in to make his debut. Mitch Cleary broke the news at 4:26pm as Calvin had just enough time to bring in Tim English (top scored in prior game with 145). Kissed.

Rowan Marshall (107) was subbed out of the game in the last quarter after a dominant display against Moyle. Bloody Ross Lyon…

Jack Bytel (ankle) got twisted up in a tackle after coming on as the sub for Marshall and had to be supported coming off the ground.

It was a high Fantasy scoring game with 11 Saints scoring 93 or more. Brad Crouch (102) scored 102 in the second half while Noah Anderson (159) was massive for the Suns.

Saints Jack Bytel (4th) Rowan Marshall (tactical)
Suns Alex Sexton (3rd) Joel Jeffrey (tactical)

Sydney v Port Adelaide

Brother Paddy McCartin (4) and Tom McCartin (10) were both concussed – 1st and 2nd quarters, respectively.

Connor Rozee (69) was tagged by James Rowbottom (85).

Swans Robbie Fox (1st) Paddy McCartin (concussion)
Power Darcy Byrne-Jones (4th) Junior Rioli (tactical)

Sunday

Essendon v GWS Giants

Andrew McGrath (65) is a hard watch. One mark. Please.

Dyson Heppell was initally named in the team and was a late out (for Andrew Phillips), only to be made the substitute.

After 32 points in the first quarter, Stephen Coniglio (79) scored 18, 20 and 9 for the rest of the game.

Finn Callaghan (88) was the fourth most traded out player this week with 8.9k offloading him. He went on to have his best Fantasy game of the year.

We can lock in Lachie Whitfield (100) as a DEF after round five… and at a value price around the low $700k mark.

Bombers Dyson Heppell (2nd) Sam Weideman (concussion)
Giants Cooper Hamilton (3QT) Conor Stone (tactical)

West Coast v Melbourne

Elliott Yeo (48) played his first game. Post-game Simpson said he would be playing in the backline and would be on managed minutes. He was subbed at three-quarter time (ended up with 53% TOG).

Kade Chandler (64) got it going after just three points in the first quarter… he followed up with 20, 17, 24 point quarters.

Brodie Grundy (119) felt like he sat for the last 10 mins on the bench. Off the back of Marshall’s vesting on Saturday night, could we see our rucks rested when games are done… especially if they’re going solo?

Adam Simpson in the post-match presser: “We’ve got to manage these kids. We will look at it during the week, we will manage their bodies the best we can.”

Eagles Josh Rotham (3QT) Elliot Yeo (tactical)
Demons James Jordon (4th) Michael Hibberd (tactical)

Monday

Geelong v Hawthorn

Jed Bews (concussion) was subbed out after a head clash with Connor Nash. The Hawk played on.

Mark Blicavs (ribs) copped a knee to the guts but played out the game.

Will Day and Gary Rohan will be looked at for dangerous tackles. Rohan’s definitely the worst of the two, but hopefully our star mid-priced defender in Day will get off… fingers crossed.

Calvin’s mate James Sicily (49) scored 18 points in the last three quarters.

Cats Oliver Henry (HT) Jed Bews (concussion)
Hawks Chad Wingard (3rd) Tyler Brockman (tactical)
