The very first full teamsheet for AFL Fantasy has dropped! We already have a full glut of rookie debuts named (listed below). Many of us have been restructuring teams because of the Elliot Yeo Calf Injury. Notes for individual games below. P.S. I know that DT TALK is super popular guys….but you crashed the server! (Sorry, I couldnt get the teams to you before the game tonight). Cheers Shags.

GAME 1: Tigers vs Blues
Thursday March 17: 7:20pm EST MCG
Notes: The traditional opening match between the tigers and blues. Blues have already dropped news for a couple of rookies with Lachie Cowan ($242k DEF) and Oliver Hollands ($280k MID), with Cowan selected over popular preseason pick Alex Cincotta (DEF/MID $200k) who didnt make the cut. Make sure you update your team before bounce if you still have him or he could be stuck on your bench for the year. Another popular Rookie on peoples bench is ruck rookie Samson Ryan (RUC/FWD $200k) who isnt in the squad. Personally I prefer another ruck rookie as you can’t use Ryan for the all important VC loophole (and there is always an outside chance another ruck rookie is named round one).
The big names are playing, with Sam Docherty being the most owned from blues (About 40%) and Tim Taranto with very high ownership for tigers with above 50% ownership. Patrick Cripps is confirmed in after an injured affected preseason, but blues will still be without Sam Walsh with a back injury. Also George Hewett and Jayden Short are in the odd team as a POD, but not as popular losing their DEF status. Moreso Hewett who scored a great 121 in the tiges vs dees preseason match, but that was without both Cripps and Walsh in the squad. Another on my watchlist is Jacob Hopper as a new recruit at the Tigers, however I’d have to see a better role then I saw in preseason to consider. Liam Baker went BANG in the practice match versus dees scoring 121, priced at a $616k he could be a bargain if he continues scoring anything near that, and as such is in a few teams. Others that pop up are Adam Cerra, Toby Nankervis (now that rucks are all over the shop) and Matthew Kennedy.

GAME 2: Cats vs Pies
Friday March 17: 7:40pm EST MCG
Notes: No rookie debuts here but Im very interested in how Midpricer Tanner Bruhn goes in the cats squad. Regular DT favourites Stewart, Guthrie, Daicos are named, as well as Tom Mitchell playing his first official game with the pies. Mason cox named will put some dampeners on anyone considering Darcy Cameron as a ruck option. And although he had an injury affected preseason Blicavs could be a sneaky POD.
Notes: First shock, Phillips didnt make the cut which will make a few squads scramble tonight (one of the obvious replacements is Hollands on field). Phillips also screams sub. Sheezel is popular forward rookie making a debut, along with a whole glut at Eagles with Long, Ginbey, Hunt and Chesser. Sheed is a popular midpricer and Ive seen quite a few teams jump on Davies-Uniake. If you had big balls you could also grab Ziebell who scored very well in preseason or Xerri with the surprise dropping of Goldstein.
Notes: Most picked rookie gun Ashcroft is making his debut, and cashcow defender Wilmot has been named.. A sneaky pick could be mid-pricer Horne-Francis who some think could make a breakout at his new club. Rozee is a popular forward option and some might chance Duursma as a midpricer. Wines and Butters could be on peoples radar as well. For Brissy, almost everyone has Dunkley, but mainstays like Neale are looking more of a POD this year.
Notes: Rookies McVee and Laurie are debutting here but neither scored well in preseason. Lots of people will be watching both Grundy and Gawn with interest, will the powerful duo still score like ruckpigs? Clayton Oliver is yet again a popular uber mid pick, whilst many will pick one of Bontempelli, Bailey Smith or Macrae for the dogs, as well as their Ruck English. Could Liam Jones copy Paddy McCartin last year and be a cheap defender on the rise at a new club?
Saturday March 18: 8:00pm EST Heritage Bank Stadium
Notes: Suns have a rookie debut in Bodhi Uwland who could land on the def bench since stocks are low. After a massive 170 in preseason match, Gulden is a very popular pick up forward. If you wanted a cheap ruck, Ladhams could be a go, but Hickey is only listed as 2-3 weeks for his injury. Also just above rookie priced and popular is Constable off the half back, could be a handy cashcow if he can stay in the squad. Noah Anderson could have a break out and of course Touk Miller will stay in contention as an uber premium, just coming off an injury affected preseason making him a bit more of a POD. A sneaky POD up forward is Flanders who had an outstanding preseason. Some will pick up Lloyd just on his past DT record alone.
Popular picks CogniglioJ.Kelly, Whitfield and Cumming are all in, as well as Tom Green which some predict to have a breakout season and go up another level. The top of the table in price and average Laird, is most definitely in, popular cashcow Pedlar is named on field and Michalanney is a confirmed debuut for the crows.
Important to note that MacKenzie is a confirmed debut for the hawks, and cashcow Fergus Greene is named on field. Popular midpricer Worpel is named in the guts, and many have jumped on Will Day off back flank with Yeo out. A couple of PODs to consider are Newcombe and Amon who do have awkward prices but could take advantage of a hole left by Tom Mitchell. For dons A.Davey is a confirmed debut and named on field. Mainstay Merrett is there, and many have grabbed McGrath who has a solid role in the back half and scored well preseason. Another cashcow option Menzie is named on the extended bench. Ridley is on my watchlist as a potential with a new coach and new gameplan, and id like to see a return to form from Parish first before I consider.
First thing of note is popular preseason rookie Phillipou is named on the extended bench with no confirmation of debut as yet. Mainstays Steele, Brayshaw are named, and a few would be keen on Serong and Brodie. Concern for Marshall owners, Campbell is named on the bench with reports of possible duo ruckig. Or…it could just be Ross playing silly buggers. Similarly for Freo, Darcy and L.Jackson are both named, how will the ruck split be? Cashcow Sturt is named on the extended bench. Watch this space.
A windy cold day in 2015, I was bored, sick with the flu, and decided to start a blog about Teamsheets. I was immediately recruited by Warnie and somehow am now a DTTALK author.
