No where near as much carnage from teams this week as we have had in previous weeks, as we gear up towards the home stretch of the fantasy season. Only 7 rounds left, so we need to make sure every trade is used smartly. If you haven’t removed your final rookies off field, then I would make that first priority. But if you have, this is the tricky part of the season as you are likely making luxury trades, where the guy you trade out could easily score more than the person you are trading in.
We had our final Thursday night game for the season, so lets have a look at what happened.
Geelong vs Melbourne @ GMHBA Stadium
Mitch Duncan (138) – Talk about junk time! Scored 60 points in the last quarter to boost a solid 90-100 to a massive 138. In his last 5, he has gone 4 times over 100 (115, 73, 103, 118 and 138) where he had only gone over 100 once is his first 10 games. Has now put his name into calculations as a genuine option. Still risky, but showing more consistency.
Jack Viney (127) – Currently in career best form, with his last 4 scores being 157, 118, 83 and 127. I wouldn’t be bringing him in as he is too expensive now, but if you own him in draft, you would be thrilled.
Cam Guthrie (114) – Solid as always, with 6 110+ scores in his last 8 games. If you jumped on him when he was under 800k, great pick. He is expensive now, but still an option given how well he is going.
Patrick Dangerfield (105) – Clearly his best game for the year,and it could have been even bigger if he had taken his chances (4 behinds), and looked really good. If he were to gain FWD status (I have no idea on numbers or anything) then he would come into calculations this season as a cheap option at around 610k, but could be an option for next season as he would be cheap.
Clayton Oliver (103) – Was solid again and got to another 100+. Keep an eye on how his hand injury is, because he copped a massive kick to it in the last quarter.
Christian Petracca (96) – Disappointing he couldn’t quite get to the ton, but an okay score nonetheless. If you remove the 40 he scored in round 11 when he was sick, he is still averaging 108.7, which would put him as the 6th highest averaging midfielder this season. Should be fine on the run home so he is still an underpriced option to look at.
Angus Brayshaw (92) – Was on 30 at HT, so had a big second half to get to a decent score. I still have him just outside my top 6 defenders, but he is still a solid option to look at. Has only gone under 80 once since round 6.
Christian Salem (72) – Couldn’t back up the ton he got last week. He will be a bit up and down, but he should be solid as Melbourne will win more games on the run home.
Max Gawn (70) – Looked rusty after being out for a few weeks, and didn’t take a mark either. Will drop in price so he will be cheap for those moving Cameron to him.
Luke Jackson (52) – Back after the knee injury that kept him out for a week, but unfortunately put up a bad one with Max also back. If you held, I would look to move him on next week.

My Trades
Hough -> D’Ambrosio/Brown/Burgoyne/Carmichael
Darcy -> English or Cripps -> Miller
Not too much to explain with trades really, one down one up. I will be offloading Hough to a rookie, but I am not sure if I pay up for Massimo or what I will likely do in grabbing the cash and getting one of Brown, Burgoyne or Carmichael (I like his MID/FWD flexibility). Then my other trade will be either Darcy up to English and keep Cripps or Cripps to Touk and keep Darcy. I am leaning to going Darcy to English as Crippa has a good matchup against West Coast compared to Sean Darcy against St Kilda.
