Player | Opponent Venue Time | Key Stats | Cal’s Comments |
---|---|---|---|
1. Jack Steele | @ MCG SUN 3:20pm | Hawks are giving up so many points it’s not funny. #1 easiest by a mile. | Top 4 players from Port and Carlton averaged 134 v the Hawks. Steele had 89 on them last year but the match-up is too juicy. |
2. Patrick Cripps | @ Metricon SUN 4:10pm | Averaging 124 and the Suns are a great match-up | Taranto 126, Green 114 and Cogs 114 got the points last week v Suns and Cripper will too, although he only had 97 and 67 last year. |
3. Christian Petracca | @ Adelaide THURS 7:40pm | Career-high 153 on the Power last year. | No tag this week for the bull who only managed 83 last week. He’ll run free and run a muck like he did in first two rounds. |
4. Josh Dunkley | @ MCG SAT 7:25pm | Coming off 132 and 112, Dunks is heating up. | The Tigers are a rabble and the last time he played them he had 145 (2019). Filling all stat lines, expect an easy 120+. |
5. Touk Miller | @ Metricon SUN 4:10pm | Had two scores of 140 against the Blues last year. | No tag this week although Hewett might spend so time with him around stoppages. At Home, Touk will bounce back. |
6. Ollie Wines | @ Adelaide THURS 7:40pm | Demons give up plenty to MIDs (2nd most) and Wines had 105 last year. | Wines is actually averaging more than he did last year. A very nice early VC option for those lucky owners. |
7. Tim Taranto | @ Optus SAT 7:25pm | Averaging 119 for the year and not sitting forward | Hasn’t put a foot wrong and is scoring like a machine. TT should be great again on Saturday night. |
8. Jayden Short | @ MCG SAT 7:25pm | Last scores of 118 and 131 and had 105 v WBD last year. | MCG = tick and the Dogs can give up bulk points to defenders. Form has him here and the fact he can junk with the best. |
9. Jack Macrae | @ MCG SAT 7:25pm | Low of 109 in last 11 at MCG and career average of 120. | Smallest amount of CBAs last week and stuck on a wing for 75. Concerning! Did have 113 and 143 in last two against them. |
10. Clayton Oliver | @ Adelaide THURS 7:40pm | 117 and 120 in his last two games and getting it done as others fail. | Port are one of his worst teams and he only had 98 last year. Crouch (95) and Laird (90) both struggled v them last week, but his form is too hot. |
MY PLAN THIS WEEK
My plan this week is based around the only NON-PLAYING rookie I have… which is Essendon’s Baldwin. Now… he plays on Sunday at 1:10 which opens me up for heaps of other options and according to my list, it appears that my VC will be on DUNKLEY (No. 4) on Saturday night. I do like Macrae as well in that game, but based on the amount of time he spent sooking on a wing last week I do have my concerns. If/when that fails… then once again Jack Steele will be my fall-back option and against the Hawks he will be great. Therefore, my line for Dunkley will be 120.
