AFL Teams 2017: Round 7

Round 7 teams are in!

5:15pm Friday 05/04/2017

Sunday bench extentions are in. The big news is Nic Newman is out again and Alex Neal-Bullen is also out.

David Myers has made the cut as did Jake Barrett.

Friday Updates

6:30pm Thursday 04/05/2017

Teams are in! Anddd….the carnage continues. Rookies out are Zac Fisher (Hamstring), Jack Bowes (Omitted), Tom Stewart (Omitted), Andrew McGrath (Rested), Ben McNiece (Rested), Brandon Jack (Omitted).
Many will be praying that Jake Barrett (Mid $241,000) makes the sunday list cut, hes named on the field which is a good sign. David Myers (Mid $197,000) will be a popular pick this week seeing as he is a experienced player who should have great Job Security and is rookie priced. Been tearing it up in the seconds as well. Just make sure you check the sunday extended bench selections first. And no Preuss to save Nankervis owners. David Swallow (Mid $414,000) is back in, as well Jordan De Goey (Mid/Fwd $455,000) from club imposed ban, and James Parsons (Fwd $201,000) from his report.

6:00pm Thursday 04/05/2017

Teams will be released from ~6:25pm tonight. Already building up for some carnage. Popular picks Toby Greene (Fwd $510,000) and Toby Nankervis (Fwd/Ruck $472,000) have been reported for 2 and 1 weeks respectively. Dayne Beams (Mid $581,000) is out with a Quad injury, reports that Jobe Watson (Mid $505,000) will be rested
There’s even been the revelation that Patrick Dangerfield (Mid $649,000) has been playing hurt, which screams possible resting. Brandan Parfitt (Mid/Fwd $312,000) will be out for awhile with a nasty hamstring injury. All this and teams haven’t even been named yet…
Some small good news with Ivan Soldo (Ruck $150,000) being likely to cover for Nankervis for his one week. His Job security would be woeful, but hey, its not like many other ruck rookies are getting a game.
Also Suns a blooding a new rookie in Brad Scheer (Mid $150,000). We will finally get to see star Stephen Coniglio (Mid $625,000) back in action for the Giants, and Veteran Jarrad McVeigh (Def $499,000) is back for the swans.

Shags’ Watchlist

cogs
Stephen Coniglio (Mid $625,000) was a mainstay at the Giants midfield and a good reason for their amazing success last year averaging 105. The big issue is his recovery from his ankle injury. Definitely one to throw on your watchlist as a potential for a sneaky POD upgrade,

mrouch
Is Matt Crouch (Mid $573,000) the real deal this year? He certainly has loved it since the inclusion of his brother Brad scoring 118 and 122 the last two weeks. If you think he can keep this scoring up it could be a sneaky grab whilst his price is reasonable.

degoey
Controversial player Jordan de Goey (Mid/Fwd $455,000) is back in the pies team after club imposed sanctions for his dodgy behavior. He has been killing it in the seconds and is a player with a lot of potential upside. Watch to see how he goes this week.

yeo
People had already started to notice his form as a possible forward premium option, and then he went bang with a 152 score.
Elliot Yeo (Mid/Fwd $557,000) will go from a POD to a popular forward pick this week. Be aware that his previous reputation is that of a yeo yeo, and as a utility player has been known to be thrown back as a key defender. Saying that his role looks amazing this year.

danger
All eyes are on, or should be on Patrick Dangerfield (Mid $649,000) this week. If you are part of the 50% of teams that own him, you will want to see if reports of him playing with an injury will continue affecting his game. if you are in the other 50% of teams, you should be rubbing your hands with glee at how cheap Dangerfield could become.

soldo
Initiation of fire for ruck rookie Ivan Soldo (Ruck $150,000) who will get his chance to strut his stuff with Nankervis is out for 1 week.
The problem is, Nankervis is out for 1 week, so thats a Job security of 1 week. But hey, no other ruck rookies are playing, and if it covers a donut and grabs some cash for Preuss on your bench, why not. He is the only ruck rookie getting a game afterall.

Shags’ Watchlist

heeney
Isaac Heeney (Fwd $443,000) was a popular hype player in the preseason who was in terrific form and a great potential for a breakout year. Then unfortunately he was struck down with Glandular fever. Well smashing out a 120 last week he looks well and truly recovered. After a first week of 60 his score remains pretty cheap, but you are taking the punt he can keep this up.

Hib
Players roles at new clubs are always interesting, and Michael Hibberd (Def $443,000) has been Fantasy relevant in the past. Scores of 97 and 84 coming back aren’t amazing but he is pretty cheap, and the potential is there. I’d personally watch for a week or two more to see if his output increases and he stays in a consistent role.

Shags’ Watchlist

myers
David Myers (Mid $199,000) will be a very popular trade in this year. Rookie priced, but should have a pretty good Job security, bombers sort of owe him a few games after his 1 year suspension. He has also been smashing it in the seconds, and famous for having an absolute huge boot which means they do love getting the ball to him. He’s named on the field so should be a shoe in to play, just double check sunday extended benches just in case.

ANB projected score this week? 70 odd?

      May 4, 2017 at 9:06 pm

I’m more concerned that he doesn’t even make the team at all.

    My Team:
DEF: Laird, Docherty, Marchbank, Otten, Hampton, Williamson (Vickers-Willis, Stewart)
MID: Rockliff, Dangerfield, Treloar, Mitchell, Adams, Fyfe, Beams, Powell-Pepper (Barrett, Mountford)
    RUCK: Martin, Nankervis (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Macrae, Dahlhaus, Steele, Roughead, Hoskin-Elliot, Balic (Butler, Polson)

    Cash: $28k

    Thoughts on trades:
1.) Preuss to Soldo and Beams to Merrett, leaving $72k.
2.) Roughead (via Nank) to Grundy and Beams to Myers, leaving $189k.
3.) Preuss to Grundy and Beams to Myers, Leaving $112k. This then means I would bench Nank and then next week trade Roughy to a basement ruck rookie and fielding Nank in FWDS.
    Or any other options cheers.

    Carnage hit me.

    Nank, Beams, Watson

Thinking Beams > Mitchell/Merrett and Watson for Grundy/Jacobs via DPP (Moving Nank forward and Balic to Mids)

Is Grundy a risk with Cox back or should I look at Jacobs.

    Cheers

If you can use DPP to cover three outs for the week then well done. We talk about it as coaches but it is rarely done. Top marks for trade awareness

Absolute carnage for me this week

    But did
    Dayne beams – David Myers
    Neal bullen – jack Steven

Leaving me to next week put

    Hoskin Elliot – Jpk/hanners/Conigs/Parker/Neale/pendles

    And then butler – Heeney/buddy/Barlow/gray

Leaves me with a Mid line complete and forwards just black and balic left and depending on who scores more out of balic and black in the next two weeks determines who I upgrade to nick Riewoldt

2 weeks time and my team is perfect!! But beams destroyed me this week :(

          May 4, 2017 at 9:48 pm

Scheer would be on the pine. Only reason I’d go him over Myers is to get me the cash to go Rocky or Merrett as oppose to the next crop of mids.

What’s your trades looking like Shags? I’ll tell you if they’re good enough to grab a win.

    • Shags

      May 4, 2017 at 9:57 pm

Looking at pretty vanilla Pruess>Soldo (fielding) Beams > Sloane/Zerrett/Rocky (havent decided yet).

Although as I put in a previous post, am considering getting Longer (can still afford Sloane/Zerrett/Rocky)

  11. Shags

    May 4, 2017 at 9:55 pm

RDT wow, talk about tough decision.

Limited trades and only 1 ruck bench means getting soldo in for only 1 game simply isnt an option.

I could get Longer $276,100 be 23 on the bubble.

Or grab Ryder in fwd line and stash Nanks.

    Or take a donut.

Or I could upgrade Nanks, but thats a waste in RDT since hes playing just as well as any of the ruck premos ATM and I reckon hes a keeper.

    I’m actually leaning towards Donut.

    • Billy

      May 4, 2017 at 10:06 pm

Yeah I’m just accepting a Donut in SC.

2 weeks back I traded Gawn to Spencer and then last week for the first time I swung Nank into the Ruck so I could get a premo fwd. With 9 trades already down the drain (5 thanks to injury) the donut is by far the best option.

Thankfully in RDT Grundy and Sandi are the Rucks and Taranto can just come on for Nank.

    • D Day

      May 5, 2017 at 2:33 pm

I would choose donut out of those options.

Luckily for me in RDT I have Nank in the forward line (as well as Greene) so I went Bowes and Eddy to Black and Parsons +175k in the kitty.

      May 4, 2017 at 10:11 pm

He might but shouldn’t. Good month but 2nd poor game in six. I have used DPP to cover and recommend if you can do the same.. Pickett to mid and Barrett to fwd both on bench my move.

      • Neal bullen

        May 4, 2017 at 10:15 pm

I bitch slapped Pickett useless keister out couple of weeks ago. I personally would prefer a doughnut then bring Pickett back. Basically Pickett to packett

  13. Matt

    May 4, 2017 at 10:02 pm

parffit to Myers then beams to rocky(will get a donut in ruck) or nank to grundy(will have to play Myers) thinking rocky as captain and 0 in ruck will be a similar score as Myers and grundy combined ?

Keep Houston with one game below 61 and an 80 and 90. Butler has two 50s and three 60s last five games. If you can lose Butler for Basic or Black

        • Dovaaas

          May 4, 2017 at 10:24 pm

          Balic (auto correct)

    • Dovaas

      May 4, 2017 at 10:20 pm

Powell-Pepper for price (projected to rise 11k) is going well with 1 game only below 68 while O’Meara at 50k more is three 60s and an 80 for year, lower than at least an 85 average we expected.

If thats your area of concern its a hard one. When will the over 100 game come from O’Meara and it will at some point. Give O’Meara this week against Melb and take Balic plus 38k projected increase

3- Beams to Sloane & Pruess to Soldo

beams to myers and greene to martin (nank fwd bench) $296 in bank
    or
Pruess to soldo and greene to Doc via otten? Soldo playing. $65 in bank??
option 2 also includes the fact doc will increase more than martin this week (barring disaster), but 1 leaves rucks set and forget. Thoughts???????

    • Chief007

      May 4, 2017 at 10:44 pm

I reckon 1 making money of doc or Martin didn’t matter as they r set and forget, soldo will only play 1 week so not much value there

      • loki

        May 4, 2017 at 11:00 pm

cheers, im not after making money from these 2 players, more worried doc will be harder to get with his increase in price vs martin. And eventually I want both. Yes, the one week of Soldo is the issue, but how much more of Preuss will we see? Having said that, really want nank fwd. cheers for reply.

Shaw, docherty, Laird, Hampton, Marchback, otten ( newman, williamson)
Dangerfield, T. Mitchell, Fyfe, Merrett, Beames, Watson, neale- bullen, Powelll-Pepper (Barrett, mountford)
    Grundy, Sandilands (Cameron, Preuss)
Dahlhaus, Steele, Roughead, balic, Nankervis, hoskin – elliot (polson, Kennedy-Harris )
    63k in the bank
Will hold Watson for the week as he won’t loose cash.
Beams/Neale-bullen look like moving on any thoughts to who
Could go beams to rookie Neale-bullen to anyone
Or
Beames to Steven
Neal- bullen to a fwd

    Or anything I’m missing
    Cheers

Chief- are you keeping Nank & fielding Kennedy Harris? Not ideal – 27 last wk

      • Chief007

        May 4, 2017 at 11:34 pm

Yeah was going to he has a bit of cash left in him that was all, I though 27 from him is better then anb bleeding cash, u got any other suggestions?

    • loki

      May 4, 2017 at 11:16 pm

its a tough one, do you see steven as part of your final team? if not maybe ANB to the player of your choice

      • Chief007

        May 4, 2017 at 11:36 pm

He has potential to be but who knows for his price and what he’s worth could be a stepping stone

      Crouch I reckon

Anyone else just going to cop a 0 from nank this week unless Preuss comes in as emergency? Or am i by myself?

    • Shags

      May 4, 2017 at 11:54 pm

Sigh. Looks very likely with my RDT. Trades are just too valuable to trade in a rookie who will play 1 week, or sideways a premium (I consider Nanks a premium as he is scoring as good as any of the ruck premiums).

Looks like a donut for me.

  26. Liam

    May 5, 2017 at 12:02 am

Need help with trades this week. Have 48k in the bank! Suggestions please.

Thinking of going Hampton – Myers via Adams and beams – Merrett!! If I do this I’ll have to cop a 0 for nank

    Any other suggestions welcome cheers

doch, laird, curly, marchbank, Newman,Otten( EVW, Williamson)

    Danger, rocky, Fyfe,tmitch, beams, Sloane,Adams,d swallow(balic,Barrett)

    Martin, Nank( king, Cameron)

Macrae, buddy, Steele, Roughead, black, McCarthy( polsan, miles)

      Can anyone help above please.

      • Jack

        May 5, 2017 at 12:41 am

Don’t take a 0 from nank. Go Swallow/Beams > Myers and Roughead > Grundy via Nank. And then swap one of balic/barrett (Whoever you think will score more) with miles and field them to cover nank.

    May 5, 2017 at 12:07 am

Leaning towards Preuss > Soldo, and Fisher > Steele (keeping Beams, at least 1 week)

Im fairly convinced Steele has the goods to be a top 6 fwd, and I need to take a punt to build up my team and culling some shit.

  28. Greeny

    May 5, 2017 at 12:12 am

    My Team: + $447 cash
DEF: Adams, Laird, Jones, Marchbank, Otten, Newman, (Hampton, Stewart)
MID: Mitchell, Treloar, Dangerfield, Beams, Oliver, Fyfe, Powell-Pepper, Balic (Barrett, Fischer)
    RUCK: Martin, Nankervis (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Dahlhaus, Steele, Neal-Bullen, Hoskins-Elliot, Roughead, Housten (Taranto, Black)

    Can trade out:

    Beams + Roughead for

    1. Sloane/Rocky + Grundy / Jacobs

    OR

    2. Sloane AND Rocky ($0k exactly) (and would mean taking a 0 from Nank)

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Please help!

    • Jack

      May 5, 2017 at 12:39 am

      1. with Rocky and Grundy easy

Thoughts on Big Boy McEvoy… don’t have enough to go to a premo.. Big Boy averaging 110 last 3 weeks and 90 for the year with a be of 30.
Means I can trade Beams and ANB out and get a jack Steven or even hanners and swing Nank forward.

      Zerrett for me

Which ruck option is better. Grundy or Jacobs.
Grundy still has Cox in the team which lowers his score.
Jacobs with a lower BE and save some cash

  32. Matt

    May 5, 2017 at 7:33 am

parffit to parson then beams to rocky(will get a donut in ruck)

    or

Nank to grundy(will have to play parson)

thinking rocky as captain and 0 in ruck will be a similar score as parson and grundy combined ?

  33. Stokesy

    May 5, 2017 at 8:31 am

Hit with three outs this week, what’s the best way to go?

    Powell-Pepper > Myers
    Nankervis > Grundy
Leaving 144K in the kitty, Kennedy-Harris to cover Greene and Baltic to cover Beams

    Or

    Greene > Yeo
    Preuss > Soldo
244k to buy up big next week and cover Beams with Balic

    Or

    Greene > Yeo
    Nankervis > Jacobs

    Greene >

    • nush

      May 5, 2017 at 10:15 am

deffntly not the first option, grundy will be cheaper next week, BE of 122 (fingers crossed, he is in for me next week).. option 2 for me
