Sunday extended bench selections are in. Aaron Black, Jay Kennedy-Harris Mitch Hannan all made the cut.

Friday Updates

6:25 pm Thursday 27/04/2017

Round 6 teams are in! We see Jaeger O’Meara (Mid $380,000) back in for the Hawks, but the other popular mid pricer David Swallow (Mid $414,000) is out rested. Rookies Tim Taranto (Mid/Fwd $269,000), Harley Balic (Mid/Fwd $178,000) and Nick Newman (Def $270,000) are back in covering some of our holes if you kept them.
Kurt Mutimer (Mid $150,000) debuts for eagles friday night.
Matthew Kreuzer (Ruck $502,000), Hamish Hartlett (Def/Mid $445,000), Sam Mitchell (Mid $554,000) and Jordan Lewis (Mid $612,000) are back in. We also get to see Koby Stevens (Mid/Fwd $517,000) at his new club in saints.
Rookie carnage continues with Jarrod Pickett (Omitted), Cameron Polson (Omitted), Aidyn Johnson (Omitted) amongst a few other rookie PODs.

5:45 pm Thursday 20/04/2017

Teams will be released from ~6:25pm tonight. Early news is veteran Matthew Boyd (Def $513,000) will be rested this week.
David Myers (Mid $197,000) looks a strong chance of selection for the bombers after smashing it in the seconds this week.
It also looks like Sam Mitchell (Mid $554,000) will return from injury to play in the WA Derby this week.
And sad news with Jesse Hogans (Fwd $495,000) father passing away, so he won’t be playing this week.

Shags’ Watchlist

Normally I’d avoid key forwards, however Jeremy Cameron (Fwd $507,000) start to the season can’t be ignored. With an average of 101.8 and a high ceiling, people will definitely look to bring him in as a POD. Beware the “tyrone vickery” effect, it could just be a few good games.

Saturday April 29

Hawthorn v St Kilda, University of Tasmania Stadium (1.45pm)

B Blake Hardwick, James Frawley, Ben Stratton
HB Ryan Burton, Josh Gibson, Luke Hodge

Koby Stevens

Shags’ Watchlist

Its always interesting to see a new recruits role at a new club. Koby Stevens (Fwd/Mid $517,000) has the potential of a decent Fantasy game, and his DPP status is handy. If saints play him in a Fantasy friendly role, he could be a good option. Definitely a watch and learn.

EMG Jordan Foote, James Rose, Michael Talia
Jeremy Laidler, Brandon Jack, Nic Newman
Jordan Foote (Omitted), Kieren Jack (Hip), Harry Marsh (Hamstring)
MILESTONES: Lewis Melican – Played 1st game

Shags’ Watchlist

Brandon Jack (Mid/Fwd $233,000) hasn’t played since 2015 and is expensive rookie priced. He’s in for his brother at Sydney who seem to be giving their rookies a run this year. He has the potential to earn a bit of cash if they play him regularly, but Job Security is a concern.

Brisbane Lions v Port Adelaide, Gabba (4.35pm)

B Darcy Gardiner, Harris Andrews, Daniel Rich
HB Sam Mayes, Daniel McStay, Tom Cutler
C Jarrod Berry, Dayne Zorko, Ryan Lester
HF Lewis Taylor, Eric Hipwood, Hugh McCluggage

I/C Hamish Hartlett, Karl Amon, Jarman Impey, Dan Houston
EMG Aidyn Johnson, Jesse Palmer, Brendon Ah Chee
Jack Hombsch, Hamish Hartlett
Travis Boak (Hamstring), Aidyn Johnson (Omitted)

Shags’ Watchlist

Robbie Gray (Mid/Fwd $530,000) got off to a woeful start this year with a 21, which means his price was kept down. Now with highs of 138 and 125 under his belt, and a brand new Forward status, he is looking at being a premo upgrade option. Be aware he has that early weird round 9 bye so that would be a good time to chase him in my opinion. However whilst hes still cheap others may go now.

North Melbourne v Gold Coast Suns, Etihad Stadium (7.25pm)

B Marley Williams, Robbie Tarrant, Aaron Mullett
HB Lachlan Hansen, Scott D. Thompson, Luke McDonald
C Jamie Macmillan, Ben Cunnington, Kayne Turner
HF Taylor Garner, Ben Brown, Shaun Higgins
F Nathan Hrovat, Mason Wood, Jy Simpkin
FOL Todd Goldstein, Jack Ziebell, Trent Dumont
I/C Jed Anderson, Shaun Atley, Ed Vickers-Willis, Sam Gibson
EMG Ryan Clarke, Braydon Preuss, Corey Wagner
Shaun Higgins, Jed Anderson
Andrew Swallow (Omitted), Lindsay Thomas (Omitted)

B Jarrod Harbrow, Jack Leslie, Jesse Joyce
HB Sean Lemmens, Kade Kolodjashnij, Adam Saad
C Brayden Fiorini, Gary Ablett, Matt Rosa
HF Jarryd Lyons, Tom J. Lynch, Alex Sexton
F Brandon Matera, Peter Wright, Jack Martin
FOL Jarrod Witts, Aaron Hall, Michael Barlow
I/C Jesse Lonergan, Touk Miller, Callum Ah Chee, Jack Bowes
EMG Matt Shaw, Keegan Brooksby, Brad Scheer
Jesse Lonergan
David Swallow (Rested)
MILESTONES: Jack Martin – Playing 50th game

Shags’ Watchlist

Ed Vickers-Willis (Def $163,000) is getting consecutive games for North, which is rare for Roos rookies this year. His 55 last week was solid enough to confirm him as a potential slowburn rookie, and with some plump def cashcows could be a good downgrade this week.

Shags’ Watchlist

West Coast Eagles v Fremantle, Subiaco Oval (8.10pm)

B Shannon Hurn, Tom Barrass, Sam Butler
HB Brad Sheppard, Elliot Yeo, Jack Redden
C Dom Sheed, Matt Priddis, Andrew Gaff
HF Kurt Mutimer, Jeremy McGovern, Mark LeCras
F Josh Hill, Josh J. Kennedy, Jack Darling
FOL Jonathan Giles, Luke Shuey, Sam Mitchell
I/C Chris Masten, Sharrod Wellingham, Liam Duggan, Nathan Vardy
EMG Lewis Jetta, Will Schofield, Mark Hutchings
Kurt Mutimer, Jonathan Giles, Sam Mitchell
Jamie Cripps (Ankle), Jackson Nelson (wrist), Will Schofield (Omitted)
Kurt Mutimer
MILESTONES: Jack Redden – Playing 150th game

B Ethan Hughes, Joel Hamling, Lee Spurr
HB Garrick Ibbotson, Michael Johnson, Connor Blakely
C Darcy Tucker, Lachie Neale, Bradley Hill
HF Hayden Crozier, Cam McCarthy, Ed Langdon
F Michael Walters, Shane Kersten, Brady Grey
FOL Aaron Sandilands, Nat Fyfe, David Mundy
I/C Griffin Logue, Tommy Sheridan, Lachie Weller, Harley Balic
EMG Nick Suban, Jonathon Griffin, Matt Taberner
Harley Balic
Stephen Hill (Hamstring)
MILESTONES: Michael Walters – Playing 100th game, Aaron Sandilands – Playing 250th game

Shags’ Watchlist

Harley Balic (Mid/Fwd $178,000) would have annoyed owners by being out with a minor hip injury. Now he is back, and remains cheap so those who didnt start him can grab him as a downgrade option. The fact he is coming straight back in bodes well for his Job Security.

Sunday April 30

Essendon v Melbourne, Etihad Stadium (1.10pm)

Patrick Ambrose Michael Hurley Martin Gleeson
Mark Baguley Mitch Brown Ben McNiece
Travis Colyer Zach Merrett Andrew McGrath
Orazio Fantasia Cale Hooker David Zaharakis
Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti Joe Daniher Brendon Goddard
Tom Bellchambers Ben Howlett Dyson Heppell
Darcy Parish Josh Green Jobe Watson Conor McKenna
Brent Stanton James Stewart Kyle Langford
Ben Howlett Tom Bellchambers Martin Gleeson Conor McKenna
James Kelly (Rested) Brent Stanton (Omitted) Matthew Leuenberger (Rested) Aaron Francis (Rested)
MILESTONES: Ben McNiece-Played 1st game

Michael Hibberd Tom McDonald Neville Jetta
Jordan Lewis Sam Frost Bernie Vince
Jayden Hunt Nathan Jones Jake Melksham
Christian Petracca Jack Watts Alex Neal-Bullen
Jay Kennedy-Harris Mitch Hannan Jeff Garlett
Cameron Pedersen Clayton Oliver Jack Viney
Christian Salem Dom Tyson Oscar McDonald Tomas Bugg
Billy Stretch Sam Weideman James Harmes
Jordan Lewis Tomas Bugg Cameron Pedersen Oscar McDonald Mitch Hannan
Jake Spencer (Shoulder) Timothy Smith (Rib) Jesse Hogan (Family) Billy Stretch (Omitted) James Harmes (Omitted)
MILESTONES: Neville Jetta-Playing 100th game

Shags’ Watchlist

Jay Kennedy-Harris (Fwd $170,000) would have annoyed a few and even caused the odd donut by replacing Hannan last week. His 70 points was a solid hit out, and he is named on the field. However being a Sunday extended bench game double check from ~5pm tomorrow before getting him in. There are also some questions on his Job Security.

Geelong v Collingwood, MCG (3.20pm)

Lachie Henderson Tom Lonergan Zach Tuohy
Mark Blicavs Andrew Mackie Tom Stewart
Darcy Lang Joel Selwood Jordan Murdoch
Mitch Duncan Harry Taylor Steven Motlop
Brandan Parfitt Tom Hawkins Nakia Cockatoo
Zac Smith Patrick Dangerfield Cameron Guthrie
Jed Bews Aaron Black George Horlin-Smith Sam Menegola
Tom Ruggles Rhys Stanley Jackson Thurlow
Jed Bews Sam Menegola
Daniel Menzel (Managed) Jackson Thurlow (Omitted)

Jeremy Howe Henry Schade Tyson Goldsack
Josh Smith Lynden Dunn Brayden Maynard
Steele Sidebottom Scott Pendlebury Daniel Wells
Travis Varcoe Darcy Moore Will Hoskin-Elliott
Alex Fasolo Mason Cox Jamie Elliott
Brodie Grundy Adam Treloar Taylor Adams
Levi Greenwood Tom Phillips Jack Crisp Tim Broomhead
Matthew Scharenberg Chris Mayne Jackson Ramsay
Lynden Dunn Josh Smith
Ben Reid (Managed) Jackson Ramsay (Omitted)
Lynden Dunn

Shags’ Watchlist

Another rookie priced player and really solid hit out former Roo Aaron Black (Fwd $184,000) score of 100 means he has the lowest BE of -23 in the comp right now. Make sure he makes the Sunday bench selection cut Friday at 5pm before grabbing him.

Adelaide v Richmond, Adelaide Oval (4.40pm)

Curtly Hampton Kyle Hartigan Luke Brown
Brodie Smith Jake Lever Rory Laird
David Mackay Brad Crouch Rory Atkins
Richard Douglas Taylor Walker Charlie Cameron
Andy Otten Tom Lynch Eddie Betts
Sam Jacobs Rory Sloane Matt Crouch
Josh Jenkins Jake Kelly Daniel Talia Wayne Milera
Myles Poholke Troy Menzel Reilly O’Brien
Josh Jenkins Jake Kelly
Troy Menzel (Omitted) Riley Knight (Hamstring

Alex Rance David Astbury Dylan Grimes
Reece Conca Bachar Houli Brandon Ellis
Jason Castagna Josh Caddy Shaun Grigg
Daniel Rioli Kane Lambert Dan Butler
Dustin Martin Jack Riewoldt Kamdyn McIntosh
Toby Nankervis Trent Cotchin Dion Prestia
Jayden Short Oleg Markov Nick Vlastuin Steven Morris
Jacob Townsend Connor Menadue Todd Elton
Steven Morris Nick Vlastuin
Todd Elton (Omitted) Connor Menadue (Omitted

Shags’ Watchlist

With a relatively low ownership of 8.75%, Rory Sloane (Mid $692,000) is cementing himself as one uber premium midfielders averaging an impressive 126.8. He’s as good a premium as any to chase, and as a minor POD could be a great unique.

A windy cold day in 2015, I was bored, sick with the flu, and decided to start a blog about Teamsheets. I was immediately recruited by Warnie and somehow am now a DTTALK author. Twitter@Shagbaggers ~REMEMBER: Friends don't let friends DT TEAMS become ghost ships.

Is jobe watson going to be alright with the short break? Or trade him to sloane?

    • Avatar

      April 27, 2017 at 11:16 pm

If you survived carnage and benches look ok, Watson > SLoane is a good trade.

Sloane is looking to be part of the Uber premium club (Rocky, Danger, Zerret, Titch)

What’s better Preuss to King and Swallow to Titch or Barrett to EVW and Swallow to Oliver or Gaff?

    • Avatar

      April 27, 2017 at 11:17 pm

If King cant get a game with Gawn and Spencer out, he’ll never get a game.
I’d wait til a ruck rookie gets a game before culling Preuss.

Preuss is just as likely to get a game before a ruck rookie downgrade option does.

Averaging around 20+ disposals in the WAFL (so it’s not NEAFL which a good start)
If you go to the West Coast site there’s a highlight reel ( then click on Eagles symbol on top)
Playing mainly mid – looked ok
I asked Jeppa but no reply maybe keeping him to himself?
With Cripps out for awhile he might be the answer??
      Good luck

who has better JS; Balic or Black?

    • Avatar

      April 28, 2017 at 11:14 am

As a Freo fan I’d say Balic’s JS is pretty good – Ross seems willing to stick with the kids at the moment and getting experience into them. He plays a similar role to S Hill who is out for 4 weeks so, all being well with his hip he should be in for the next few weeks at least I would think. That said, I have also brought in Black this week as 100 on your first outing should also give you some security for a few weeks…

Should I double downgrade pickett and eddy to balic and black or do I upgrade Fyfe to Merrett. I can’t see Fyfe being a top mid come year end.

    • Avatar

      April 27, 2017 at 10:31 pm

1st option, more important to get rid of the bog first.

    • Avatar

      April 27, 2017 at 11:18 pm

Fyfe may not be top 10 mid sure, but hes more than capable of holding his spot in your team until you have the luxury to upgrade him.

Like the word in your name suggests get rid of the spuds before you trim a player who can score twice as much as the other two combined

Barrett or Pickett out for Balic? Barrett frees up 45k more coin

    • Avatar

      April 27, 2017 at 11:11 pm

Both not named, Barrett has lower BE so if he does return he’ll make you some coin while Pickett is about at end of his usefulness so unless you need the cash, I’d trade Pickett before Barrett.

Thoughts on Mutimer? Seems to have done alright in the Magoos…30 disposals, 10 tackles + a goal on the weekend. I have bingo cash ($0k) so I’m either going:
    1. Pickett + Polson -> JKH + Balic ($0 remaining) or
    2. Pickett + Hibberd (NM) -> Black + Mutimer ($11k remaining)

Just want to get some playing rookies to make some cash so preference for Black (if named) as lower BE but unsure on Mutimer. Still got some other passengers like roughy + SPP who are nearing stumps but for this week, happy to play rookie roulette.

Worth bringing back Newman for the quick cash increase?
    How’s his job security?

    • Avatar

      April 27, 2017 at 11:34 pm

There are cheaper options in Def at this point who have higher cash earning potential.

I’d say you’ve missed the boat on Newman. His JS is a bit iffy too.

    • Avatar

      April 27, 2017 at 11:45 pm

Believe it or not its not a good price range to get mids in at the moment. Its almost worth either trying for one of the uber mids (Titch, Sloane, Danger, Rocky, Merrett) or upgrading Def/Fwd/Ruck

      Do you already have Beams?

You could take a punt on Murphy (injury cloud) or a POD like Duncan, Shuey. Its better to aim low and try and jump up to the uber premos when you get the chance. None of them look like falling this year.

      • Avatar

        April 28, 2017 at 1:58 pm

Problem is I’ve already got Balic and with Myers not named there my only real 2 legitimate options.
Leaning towards JKH as he is more proven than Mutimer but Mutimers WAFL form is good and Cripps is out for a while…

Docherty, Laird, Otten, Hampton, Marchbank, Adams (Williamson, Newman)

    Grundy, Nankervis (Preuss, Cameron)
Dahlhaus, Steele, M. Kennedy, WHE, Houston, Neal-Bullen(Miles, Pickett)

Thoughts? Was thinking watson to rockliff and whe down to Kennedy Harris?
