Top 5 Potential Targets – Brisbane
Dayne Beams MID $570K
Beams can be a risky proposition due to injury, he has not played 20 games in each of his last 3 seasons and only reached 20 or more games twice in his 7 year career. But where there is risk there will be a reward, back in 2012 Beams averaged 115.4pts including Finals for Collingwood. In that year he hit the ton in 16 games 10 of which exceeded 120pts or more, if Beams has a full uninterrupted pre-season then at a minimum he will be a beast in the 1st half of 2016.
Pearce Hanley MID $494K
Injury also hit Hanley in 2015 playing only 11 games for the Lions, he has proven to be a durable option in AFL Fantasy. Considering his finish to the 2015 season and a good run throughout the pre-season there is plenty room to improve on his 89.3 average, 2 of his 11 games last year exceeded 120pts and given the opportunity to play in the right part of the ground (Leppa – Hint to play down back so he can achieve DPP) there might be more of that to come in 2016.
Stefan Martin RUCK $631K
Set and forget! Martin had the highest average of any player for the entire 2015 season coming in at 114.1pts per game, he was very consistent with 13 of his games hitting 100pts or more with 6 games exceeding 120pts or more. Sometimes taking the obvious choice is the right option, no second guessing with Martin as he should be a Round 1 starter.
Mitch Robinson FWD/MID $504K
Robinson had an enormous finish to the 2015 season averaging 117.0pts from his last 7 games, 6 of those games exceeded 100pts or more and 1 he hit out of the park for 166pts. It is very important to note that in those 7 games Beams only played in 1 of the games injured for just 68pts, he is a definite must watch in pre-season games and could revert back to a 78.1pt average prior to the Beams injury. Notwithstanding, the late 117.0pt average should have quite a few AFL Fantasy coaches very interested.
Tom Rockliff MID $579K
Sometimes understanding a landscape of a club and players can tell a better story than looking inside the numbers, yes Rocky is a gun and should be a walk up start in nearly all teams in 2016 but the side story of last year played out in the media might be the impetus for the greatest ever single season average of any player. Questions relating to the leadership style at Brisbane and infighting seemed to have been resolved, but if Rockliff stays true to form and understanding his competitive nature this is going to be one slightly annoyed man (soft language used for the children) set out for redemption. Get him in your team and be part of history, well at least that’s the plan right now. Rockliff hit 100pts or more in 9 of his 15 games in 2015 8 of which went for 120pts or more, nuff said!
