When the official AFL team selections come out tonight, there’ll be thousands of nervous coaches sweating on the availability of their players for grand final games this weekend. The thing is, most of those coaches won’t have ever met any of those players.

Welcome to fantasy football where around quarter of a million keen footy fans create virtual teams using actual AFL players and slug it out against their mates for over $75,000 in prizes. And that’s just for the AFL. Rugby league has a similar game and fantasy football in the US is a multi-billion dollar industry.

We talk to one of the AFL’s expert fantasy panellists, Adam “Roy” Davey.
