Jack Grimes – Deck of Dream Team 2014

Forget Santa’s list. How about we all get out our “Never Again Lists” and rub out Jack Grimes’ name for the 3rd time. He’s massively cheap and a big bargain… but who wants the stress and trauma he can create?

dec23_jackgrimesName: Jack Grimes
Club: Melbourne Demons
Position: Mid/Def
AFL Fantasy: $416,200
AFL Dream Team: $419,500
Bye Round: 10
2013 Average: 76.8
2013 Games Played: 15
Predicted Average: 90

Why should I pick him?

You should pick him because you hate yourself and you’d like to spend the entire year with a headache ha ha – ok that’s a joke!

You should be picking Jack Grimes this year because he is a dead set bargain. He averaged just 76.8 last year, a huge 15pts less than the 92 he averaged in 2012. Plus, in Rd. 6 this year he scored just 12pts before getting injured, if we take that game out of his average, he would now be priced at 4.6pts more than now (81.4). Ok, yes… clutching at straws.

Jack Grimes is a Dual Position Player and he does get midfield time and he can score well like his did in 2012. He finished that season averaging 105 in his last 8 games and now turns up ready for us to select in 2014 with an average of 76.8. Bargain!

Our teams will be loaded with guys like this. Under performing players from 2012 who are cheap as. Add his name to the list!

Why shouldn’t I pick him?

Oh dear, where can I start? He gets injured a lot. He gets injured that much, he has grown to enjoy it ha ha. Grimes will give you headaches. Guaranteed! He is like players such as Heath Shaw, Higgins and many others who fall into this category.

After returning from his injury last year, he played 9 games and only cracked the 90+ mark in 3 of those games. He scored a terrible 51pts during this time as well where he was used a tagger to run with the likes of Wells, Rich and Ward. This just adds more concern to the ever growing list of concerns… How will Paul Roos use him? Lock down in defence? As a tagger? Or as a key midfielder where he can go head to head with them all?

I’ve been done before but the big question is all yours… will you let Grimes burn you again?

Deck of DT Rating.

JOKER QUEEN – At the end of the day, we have trades to burn and guys like this allow us to ‘gamble’ on him. But… if you’re like me and have had him in your team before, you have been hurt, burnt and traumatised. You have him on that “Never Again List” that comes back to haunt us every year. He’s been on my list twice now. AND… Jack Grimes is well and truly on my radar once again. Based on his price and his scoring potential to average around the 90 mark… he just has to be (for now anyway). But you have been warned.
