Dream Team Extra: Rd 22

Who’s hit the headlines this week? What’s the fallout from the weekend? Let’s take a look at a few newsworthy snips, and maybe a bit of juicy goss, that may have an effect on your Dream Team this weekend!

Only two rounds left! With only one league to play for, I’m looking forward to the relief of the off-season. But a few of you are still alive and kicking in your big leagues as we head into the Preliminary Finals. The problem we face this week is the lottery that is pre-AFL finals general soreness. Let’s have a look at what’s been doing the rounds this week…

Mitch To Miss?

Here’s a scary bit of goss (shared by our own @JeppaDT) to get the blood pressure rising at the end of hump day:

I don’t know whether this will eventuate or not, but for some it’s going to sort out those ‘who to play out of…’ questions come lockout tomorrow night. It’s not ideal though, as you’d expect Robbo to run amok against the Suns and bring home a decent score for your prelim final match. Make sure you have a FWD EMG handy…

Bud & Sam

Buddy’s hogged the headlines this week, with more positive news than negative, which leads most to believe that he’ll be up and about. Good news if you need him to fire up for you. Hopefully he won’t be abducted by aliens pre-match for a late withdrawl. His usually trusty sidekick, Sammy Mitchell, is rated as a starter this week too after being withdrawn last week with what looks like a genuine calf injury. However, it’s not all great news as he’s not 100% guaranteed to take to the park, so I hope you have a MID EMG, just in case.

Sweep The Knee?

So it was more of a knock than a Cobra Kai-style sweep, but someone gave Pendles’ knee a hard time at training yesterday and it sent the twittersphere into mini-meltdown. Well, for about 10 minutes anyway. Scotty himself brushed it off and sent out this reassuring tweet last night:

I wouldn’t sweat on it too much as he did get back on his feet. In other Pie-related news, Swannie is back this week and it’ll be a tough call between him and Gazza for your captaincy. My gut feel is that Swan will go big, but it’s hard to jump of Ablett after last week’s performance!

Calling 211

Big Toe himself is back, getting a last-minute call-up last weekend in somewhat controversial circumstances. Ross Lyin aside, there are a few punters who are still spewing at the loss of Jon Griffin for their semi-finals. However, if you have a trade spare and not much cash, a Griffin to Sandi trade isn’t the silliest idea given that Freo square off against North and then Melbourne. The big unit should be right against Goldy and then hopefully go beserk against the Dees at home in Perth.

Anyways, that’s the rub for this week. Trading? Heard any juicy news bits, gossip or rumours? Got a rant or a rave? Stick it in the comments and let’s get some healthy chatter going ahead of team lists tonight. See ya next Thursday for another bout of media trawling and good luck this weekend!
