  • Thoughts

    DEF: J.Crisp, R.Burton, H.Hartlett, A.McGrath, A.Brayshaw, T.Doedee ( N.J. Brown, I.Cummings)

    MID: M.Crouch, T.Rockliff, P.Cripps, J.Selwood, C.Petracca, J.O’Meara, B.Ah Chee,
    L.Davies- Uni (J.Smith, N.Freeman)

    Ruck: M.Gawn, N.Nat (D.Cameron,P.Hunter)

    Forward: D.Smith, R.Gray, M.Robinson, R.Lobb, J.Stringer, A.Christensen (W.Rioli, J.Waterman)

    • im going to say no to hartlett

    • meh premiums and midprice mayhem.

    • Interesting but it’s a nope from me. Mids too weak thanks to loaded mid price fwd and back lines, gonna struggle to make $$$ too. Brown on your bench is surely just for laughs right?

    • You’re carrying a lot of risk in your back line in my opinion. Burton is a good player, but he’s only played 23 games. McGrath is also a good player, but again played just 20 odd games. Hartlett could be a steal if he could get back to the player he was a few years ago, but is there any indication he will. Brayshaw might be due for a breakout and while I wish him all the best, one serious head knock could be a major problem in terms of his fitness. Plus, he’s in line for a breakout, but there’s no guarantee. Taking one, or maybe two of these risky calls into the season is worth a shot, but you need all four to work out. If they do, well done, but if they don’t it’s pretty hard to recover.

Personally, I’d downgrade a couple of your midpricers (one of Petracca, O’Meara or Ah Che and one of Lobb, Stringer or Christensen for a couple of the early draft pick rookies – e.g., Rayner, Brayshaw, Paddy Dow etc) and use that extra cash to move two of your defenders up to solid producers that you know, barring injury will be in the top 6 (e.g., Laird, etc). I’d also prefer to have at least one clear captain in the mids (Dusty, Danger, Titch etc).

It might look good on paper to have all of these underpricers spread across the board, but it never comes off that all of the them or even the majority of them, deliver. At least in my experience.

  • D3 is Sicily not Hartlett sorry

  • laird crisp sicily brayshaw doedee murray (finlayson cumming)

titch danger kelly crouch beams rocky o’meara LDU (brayshaw bailey kelly)

    gawn nank (balta)

heeney robinson christensen ahchee setterfield higgins (keefe ahern)

    • DEF looks decent, could be interesting JS wise to have 2 170k’s on the field there, MID’s look decent, might be a touch too strongly weighted and I’d be a bit cautious on danger just because we dont 100% known his role as of yet. Ruck is strong if nank plays solo ruck, missing a bench spot but assuming a 170k. FWD is quite week, christensen at F3 seems a bit low, also higgins most likely wont play R1, I’d have a look at the WC 170k’s (rioli, venables). Finally watch Heeney closely as he has had some injury concerns coming into this preseason.

  • When will Jeppers Juniors start please

    Please give me feed back

    • How much money you got left? Personally it needs some work
Def: strong, brandon ellis i think is a great pod. Not sure were coffield fits into stkilda structure as with o’shea. Monitor JLT games. Maybe downgrade both to doedee or mirra
Mid: if mitch duncan and sloan kill it early you could look very good, very unique but both have stars coming into their sides in ablett and gibbs so who knows if their output will increase or decrease. Sloane is too susceptible to a tag imo, high risk high reward. SPP might be a second year failure, monitor JLT.
Ruc: horribly weak, nic nat still isnt doing contact work and we dont know if cameron is in sydneys best 22.. you need two good rucks ie i have gawn and kreuzer atm.
Fwd: i dont believe daniher and walla are fantasy players, I personally always pick midfield players in my forward line. Maybe look at christensen, robinson, ah chee, maybe mclean or heeney. Nyhuis has not been mentioned where i have seen. Venebles is garanteed to be selected if fit, he plays simlar to luke shuey and is dirt cheap. Monitor him and willie rioli, might not score as much but should play early.l, hes the talk of the town in the west

Overall it needs alot of work

    • ditch those rucks man yikes

  • Who does everyone predict to be the top 4 mids?

  • Hows this one look??

DEF: Laird, Crisp, Sicily, A. Brayshaw, Coffield, Keeffe (Murray, Doedee)

MID: Titch, Rocky, Oliver, Parker, Cripps, Prestia, LDU, Wigg (H. Brayshaw, Freeman)

    RUCK: Jacobs, Gawn (Cameron, Frampton)

FWD: Heeney, Robinson, Petracca, Christensen, Setterfield, Ahern (W. Rioli, Venables)

  • Who’s more a must have mid pricer. Brayshaw, Omeara, Petracca, Robinson, Sicily?

  • Def:
    R Laid, J Lloyd, J Sicily, J Crisp, N Coffield, T Doedee (D Mirra, S Murray)

    T Mitchell, P Dangerfield, G Ablett, T Rockliff, D Beames, J O’Meara, L Davies U, T Kelly (D Barry, J Finlayson)

    M Gawn, N Naitanui (D Cameron, T ENglish)

    S Menogola, D Smith, A Christensen, C Rayner, L Ryan, P Ahern (W Rioli, D Venables)

20k left over, and quite wishful with defence and forwards having playing rookies. Likely to drop a premo in mid to free up cash to upgrade Coff, Doedee, Ryan, Ahern or maybe even Kelly to a sure lock

    Any help would be appreciated

    • Your backline & mids are very strong but your fwd line is very weak – probably need another premo in there. Also I would advise changing NicNat.

  • Four spots left in this league, feel free to join. Code is: YEA6EM54

  • Brayshaw looks better than ever

  • I’m looking at Zac Smith as R2.

    Any thoughts???

    • No thanks, not for me. Injuries have troubled him in his career and last season was the first he has averaged over 80. That’s what deters me. If you’ve got some nads then he might not be the worst option though. Here’s some stats –

From 18 games in the 2017 H&A season he scored under 80pts 7 times (38.9% of his 18 games) (worst being 47, 54, 57). He scored over 90pts 6 times (33.3%) (best being 148, 110, 106), of those 6 times 4 (22.2%) were over 100. Last 5 games of the regular season he averaged 94. Last 5 games average including finals he averaged 90.2. Finals average was 87.3. He also averaged 15 disposals a game which, of the best 4 ruckman last year (Grundy, Kruezer, Stef, Jacobs), was only bettered by Grundy (18) and Stef (17), and equalled by Kruezer. So he can get the ball, whether that changes with Ablett in the team I don’t know.

God dammit now that I’ve looked at him I’m considering now.

      • The issue will be if Stanley plays. If Stanley plays then it is a fat no, if he doesn’t then he could potentially be underpriced.

  • Any thoughts??

Def: Laird, Simpson, McGrath, Brayshaw, O’Shea, Doedee (J.Smith, S.Murray)

Mid: Titch, Danger, Rockliff, Fyfe, Coniglio, JOM, Andrew Brayshaw, LDU (Wigg, Garlett, T.Kelly)

    Ruck: Jacobs, Gawn (Cameron)

For: Billings, Heeney, Robinson, Lobb, Christensen, Rayner (Higgins, Ahern)

  • Anyone have any SuperCoach league spots open?

  • With the lack of DEF rookies and FWD stacked of rookies, what do you guys think about this team?

DEF: Laird, Crisp, Sicily, McGrath, Brayshaw, Hibberd (Doedee, Murray)
MID: Titch, M Crouch, Beams, Rocky, Cogs, JOM, Dow, Kelly (Freeman, Barry)
RUC: Gawn, Nic Nat (Cameron, McInerney)
FWD: Heeney, Devon Smith, Robinson, Rayner, Setterfield, Venables (rioli, keefee)

    $2 in the kitty

    • Looks better if you downgrade McGrath or brayshaw and upgrade Heeney to menegola. I went down to Simmonds stadium yesterday and lucky enough I was able to have a chat to Chris Scott discussing menegola’s role this year. He couldn’t give much detail apart from he has been training with the mids full time, even though the guys like Selwoods, dangers, Abletts and Duncan’s and co were still racking up the clangers, the gola has been polish, sound and executing his field kicking nicely. I mean we are looking at someone who is favourite for the best and fairest this year, probably top 3 Brownlow favourite, future hall of famer and possibly a future prime minister. During this time with scott, I manage to get a thumbs up from gola while he was jogging laps , yelling out The hawker, so before his ownership rises, get him in and thank me later 115+ . Over and out

  • Going for something a little different. Appreciate all opinions:

DEF: Laird, Witherden, Sicily, Coffield, Hibberd, Smith (Doedee, Murray)

MID: Titch, Zerrett, M.Crouch, Rockliff, Blakely, O’Meara, Brayshaw, LDU (Worpel, Freeman)

    RUCK: Jacobs, Gawn (Cameron, Frampton)

FWD: Billings, Heeney, Walters, Rayner, setterfield, ahern (Rioli, Venables)

    Explanations on a few:

-Witherden: Young so will only improve, takes kick-ins, I believe he and Hodge will kick to kick for +6’s

-Blakely: I see him averaging 105+ at half back meaning Def DPP.

-Walters: See him moving into the midfield with the addition of matera and ballantyne being fit

    • Seems pretty strong but also has some risks, going 3-0-3 in both FWD and DEF is a big call which if they all play will pay off massively but that is a very big if, good POD’s and reasonably strong midfield.

    • Alex, no offence mate but a little different usually means something different to everyone else.. You have a pretty standard team there mate. Dont get me wrong it is a great, strong line up but there is nothing unique about it. Witho is in a fair few teams & i know a lot of people are starting Blakely hoping he gets DPP in rnd 6. Walters has also become the flavour of the month in a lot of teams..

  • Thoughts on Lachie Neale? I know Fyfe is supposed to be back to his best but he’s never been an amazing fantasy player, does his form help Neale rack more up you reckon?

  • Sauce and both McGrath and Braysahw(Melb)
    Ryder/Goldy and 2 of McGrath/Brayshaw(Melb)/Sicily

  • Looking at a port fwd option. Currently sitting with wingard. Contemplating boak as a pod…thoughts?

  • Ladies and Gents, more league codes, all are welcome, so jump aboard.

  • I’m not gonna lie… this forum with the likes of The Chosen Won, Hawk and Arctic Panda throwing banter around to me is funnier then anything that has come from Dave Hughes’ mouth, absolute gold!

  • The following league is nearly full, four spots left, feel free to join. Code is: YEA6EM54

  • any1 know how to add a picture to SC instead of a shield?

  • Coniglio and Jones (bench) or Blakely and English (bench)

  • A bit of a different structure here, would like to hear your thoughts.

    Gone for
    3-1-2 in DEF
    5-1-3 in MID
    2-0 in RUC
    2-4 in FWD

Forwards have the much more promising rookies this year and the midpricers in Lobb/Christensen/Robinson do not tempt me.

    Team is below:

Laird,Hibberd, Witherden, Sicily, O’Shea, Murray (Doedee, Mirra)
Mitchell, Merrett, Kelly, M.Crouch, Blakley, Brayshaw, Dow, Kelly (Worpel, Giro)
    Jacobs, Gawn (Frampton, Cameron)
Billings, Heeney, Galluci, Rayner, Setterfield, Fritsch (Rioli, O’Keefe)

    • Nice team thoughts and is just IMO
DEF – looks fine interesting Sicily is a mid priced, guess he is not premo but not rookie either and possibly not a keeper.
MID- looks good got the 3 big gun rookies
      Rucks fine
FWDs if all your rookies play and score well then all good, think is a little heavy IMO having 4 rookies on field but may pay off

this is your strategy you obviously put some thought into it, good luck but not for me

      • Thanks Euman! Could easily flick Sicily Forward. Just with lack of decent DEF Rookie and a large amount of FWD rookies makes sense to take advantage of that. Will take a long time however to upgrade my forward line.

      • how much cash you got with that team?

  • what are people’s thoughts on this team:

def- laird, crisp, brayshaw, perryman, o’shea, doedee (mirra, murray)
mid- mitchell, kelly crouch, beams, rockliff, o’meara, brayshaw, kelly (ahern, freeman)
    ruck- kreuzer, gawn (cameron, framptom)
fwd- barlow, robinson, lobb, christenson, setterfield, rioli (venebales, dear)

  • Enter the Goldstein.

DEF:Laird, Crisp, McGrath, Brayshaw, O’brien, Keeffe (Doedee, Murray)
MID: Titch, M Crouch, Beams, Rocky, Cogs, JOM, Dow, Brayshaw (Kelly, Barry)
    RUC: Goldy, Gawn (Cameron, Frampton)
FWD: Heeney, Robinson, Sicily, Rayner, Setterfield, Stephenson (Venables, Rioli)

    $9K left

    • i am not keen on mcgrath, brayshaw nor rayner. mcgrath didnt ton once last year i know he has been touted as a midfield role this year but not sure…brayshaw too, too much speculation on those two for me. but go with it if your gut tells you to. rayner is not an accumulator apparantly…other rookies have more of a “dt game.” anyway, just my two cents worth. the rest is good. i like!

      • Fair call, Iam not expecting McGrath or Brayshaw to avg 100.
        Id be happy with 85+
McGrath didn’t ton up but did score a 96, 90, 99 and 92 plus some high 80’s which is decent for a first year in defence.

Yea I hear Rayner isn’t an accumulator, who else do you suggest in the forward line as a rookie?

        Thanks for the feedback!

        • no worries kingzy. fritsch 200k melbourne.

petracca said that he was a walk in r1, he went onto to say that he was a year younger than him in the juniors so he knows him and is a gun.

kicked 40 odd goals for casey last year.

          • Yea I did see his name pop up, they said he is a good 1 on 1 player.
Very wiry, but he didn’t well in the AFLX scored 3 goals I think.

If I go Rayner to Fritsch and field at F6 I can upgrade Keeffee to Mitch Hibberd which I wanted, he scored an 87 in his last full game last season and is burning up the track winning their time trials

          • yes the extra cash would be very useful…

  • Right, never done a draft before where it actually turned out that everyone was avaliable and all went o plan.

So looking to do a draft league, anyone interested in making one, or have one that isn’t full and would have me aboard?

    • Id be keen to join a draft.
As long as its fair, the ones I was in last year was shizer.

I was 10th in line, but it didn’t change the pick sequence. (if your last in picking then you should get the next pick)

    • Yeah I’m keen for something different also.

    • I’m on board, would love it.

    • I have no idea how to set one up, so if one of you boys would be a legend and set one up that’d be great.

    • ok guys try this one if interested – 9DKX75ME

Rules (just changed to snake for you Kingszy)

      SQUAD SIZE AND LAYOUT:5-7-1-5/4

      Team guide

      • Thanks mate your the man, joined

      • Why does Kingzy get preferential treatment? I am outraged!!

        • Snake is waaayyyy fairer than linear!

          • That does not subdue my outrage at the disgraceful behaviour of the Commissioner of this league.

          • Just create your own and do it non snake?
            People will join it.

The linear one I went in last year was crap, the commissioner put him and his mates in the first draft picks so they got all the top picks in every round. Snake is a lot fairer

          • haha, that’s silly if the commissioner can pick the order of draft (and just ignore my ramblings, I amuse myself with things that aren’t funny)

      • Cool 3 spots left, i always like to make league not too big so we have 10 in it thats it. If you make it too big then the draft pool gets pretty slim after awhile.

I have the team to team trades as commissioner approved because i have had instances in the past where near finals a player who could not make finals traded all his good players to his mate, with trades like Dangerfield for Dan Butler type stuff. So any trade between players have to go through me, as long as it seems legit then all good.

      • Hey Euman, i just noticed the squad size you have chosen. It is going to get hard in the later draft rounds.. 220 players total to be selected.

        • yes, but wanted a deeper draft will bring some unique picks into it, its a juggle between too deep and not deep enough.

I’ve found in past if not as many players on field then the team that gets the 1 or 2 really a high picks tends to dominate barring injury but if more players then spreads it out a little and makes the teams need to find unique players or upcoming rookies.

But tried to minimize a bit so kept it to 10 teams

i also still made it 1 ruck only as thats a prick of a position, and you will probably want a bench option as well. Ruck still very hard, if we all just went ruck straight up imagine selecting the 10th best ruck in the comp, and your bench option was the 20th

Have a look at the other structures if everyone (or a few people can come to a consensus) wants to change then happy to change things, its all flexible until we attend draft night.

Remember all if cant make draft night set your selections or ‘pre-draft list’ for example Docherty will be high in the list and the system does not know he is injured and it will auto select him if you do not attend draft so move him all the way to bottom etc…

          • 1 ruck is great, I had 2 last year and had a donut a fair few games

          • Your right Euman, we are going to see some pretty unique players. It’s going to be fun, can’t wait for draft night.

      • I’m in, cheers, something different to play along with.

      • Remember if attending draft this will take 2-3 hours so grab beers and be alert and ready each turn with you next pick (plus a back up) in mind

  • Alrighty guys, which option do you choose:

    1. Jacobs (R1) + Billings (F1) + Blakely (M5) + Ahern (F6) + Freeman (M10)

    2. Goldy (R1) + Robinson (F3) + J.Kelly (M3) + Fritsch (F6) + T.Kelly (M9)

    • 1 for me.

      • 2 for me. ahern wont play r1.

        • What makes you say that?

He doesn’t get injured and he plays R1 no question in my mind.

        • So you think Fritsch will play? Based on what?

          • I don’t think Fritsch will play but Tracca does…:

Fritsch, a 188cm fwd was taken at pick 31 in last year’s draft after 42 VFL goals for Casey.
The 21-year-old also impressed in AFLX.
“Bayley is an absolute gun. He was a year younger than me at (TAC Cup club Eastern Ranges). I think he does (play Round 1),” Petracca said.

            DFS Australia @DFSAustralia

          • Petracca does not pick the team so I wouldn’t take much notice of that. I’m aware of his stats and ties to the Demons with Casey, but at this stage I’m calling him this year’s Brett Eddy if he’s named r1.

Also what makes you so sure Ahern won’t play. Please don’t tell me it’s because of AFLX.

        • It isn’t a risk. He will play, along with LDU. He’s a 170k player, who’s got good JS, is hyped up around the club and should score well. Comparing to the other 170k rooks he’s a gem.

  • Calvin, you need to grow up a little or you will be the Jordan De Goey of DT talk. It is the same every year. Or lads make him a guest commentator, he is an absolute spud at times. The Robbo of 360 or the Heath Shaw of AFLX, or that girl commentator a few years back, your mates are keeping you in this fantastic opportunity you have.

  • Laird, Crisp, Sicily, Seedsman, O’Shea, Doedee (Murray, Gardner)
Mitchell, Dangerfield, Merrett, Adams, Rockliff, O’Meara, Dow, Kelly (Barry, Freeman)
    Gawn, Goldstein (English, Cameron)
Heeney, Robinson, Christensen, Setterfield, Stephenson, Fritsch (Rioli, Keeffe)

  • Hey guys, made a few tweeks after AFLX. what you think? My only fear is I have too many rookies rounding out my midfield.

DEF: Laird, Crisp, Sicily, A Brayshaw, N Coffield, T. Doedee (Mirra, Murray).
MID: T Mitchell, Danger, Z Merrett, Rockliff, O’meara, Dow, David-Uniacke, Brayshaw (Freeman, Berry)
    RUCK: Nankervais, Gawn (Cameron, English)
FWD: Henney, Mclean, Robinson, Ahh Chee, Rayner, Setterfield (Venables, Ahern).

  • 1 -I dont trust goldy as an R1

  • Can anyone in WA please tell me how Nic Nat is going? Is he likely to play any JLT? Cojjd really use the extra cash if I drop Jacobs down to him.

    That is all.

  • What is the appeal of Setterfield?
I heard Roy say he was including him today, and I’ve seen the name in peoples teams a few times.
I don’t know much about him. Is he as good as Hoskin-Elliott? If so, why? What’s his story?

    • Potential spot for him in the GWS team with Wilson and Kennedy gone, and Williams injured.
      Rookie priced.
2016 pick 5 in the national draft (obviously got talent)
Averaged 110 from 7 games in the NEAFL last year.

    • A tackling beast and he played 1 full game for just over 70 last year

  • V2 of my team after a fair bit of shuffle, interested in everyone’s thoughts:

B: Laird, Crisp, Ellis, A.Brayshaw, Keefe, Doedee EMG: Johnson, Goddard

M: Mitchell, Dangerfield, Heppell, Bontempelli, Armitage, O’Meara, Ahern, Barry EMG: Wigg, J.Smith

    R: Gawn, Naitanui EMG: McInerney

F: Billings, Boak, D.Smith, Parish, Settefield, W.Rioli EMG: Ryan, Kirby

    Cash Remaining: $144k

    • I think Rioli starting on the field is a risk, to be honest. I think you are better off with a Raynor if you can afford it, and put Rioli on the bench.

      • +1.
Its risky having 2 170K def, 2 170K Mid and Rioli on field.
Might want to spend some cash to upgrade Ryan to Rayner or Stephenson and field instead of Rioli.

  • anyone thinking of going extreme guns and rookies
    3 premos 3 rookies
    4 premos 4 rookies
    2 premos
    3 premos 3 rookies

all rookies around 250k and all premos are keepers around 800k

    • Give it a go and see how you go.

I think 3 def rookies is to thin, midfield way to thin, 3 forward rookies is the way to go.

But cant ignore all of the value this year in the MID and DEF

      • I’m currently running a 2-1-3 def. if you’re call Sicily mid pricer and O’shea a rookie.
I think there’s better value in fwd hence why I’ve gone only 2 rooks on field and three in def. Another reason why I asked about Naitanui as that extra 300k down to him would help me get Brayshaw in def which I currently don’t have and can’t afford.
If I was to go light in fwd line Christensen would be F3 and that’s way to weak.
        Good point though

        That is all

        • I didn’t think Sicily was a mid pricer, but now you mention it I guess he is. I am confident he is a keeper.

I think the FWD rookies are more solid this year, the DEF rookies aren’t as solid with maybe not as good JS. Only a couple you would think have solid JS, Hibberd, O’brien maybe O’shea but Iam not confident.

          • O’Shea played 81 games for Port. Carlton needs experience and he provides that. I think he has great JS. Carlton wouldn’t of picked up him if they weren’t going to play him. Doedee will have great JS also. Coffield I think as well. Just a few names I putting out there.
Maybe Sicily is a under priced premium. But I agree he should be a keeper
