AFL Teams 2016: Round 19

5:30pm Friday 29/07/2016

Sunday extended bench selections are out! Jordan Foote (Mid) didnt make the cut for the swans, and neither did Trent McKenzie (Def) for the suns. Sam Michael (Ruck) is confirmed in for the dons, and Darcy Tucker (Def) back in for Freo.

6:30pm Thursday 28/07/2016

Teamsheets are out! Some big news with Matt Boyd out with an achilles injury, and Stef Martin being rested, and James Kelly is rested for the dons. We already knew about Matthew Suckling already out with an achilles injury and Mitch Wallis out with that horrific leg break. The odd few rookie outs as well with Jason Castagna, Rueben William, Connor Blakely. Luke Dahlhaus is back for the dogs, and many will be watching in interest as he has been a great DT performer in the past and hes back in an undermanned dogs lineup. Bachar Houli is back from a long break due to injury, he was a popular def choice at start of year, and with not many choices out there people may consider to finish out their defence lines or replace players like boyd.
A few late season rookies getting a run with Adam Marcon (Mid. $125,000 AF $105,800 DT), Rupert Wills (Mid. $125,000 AF $121,300 DT), Archie Smith (Ruck. $125,000 AF $121,300 DT), Sam Skinner (Def/Fwd. $136,000 AF $121,300 DT), Simon Tunbridge (Fwd. $137,000 AF $157,700 DT), Zaine Cordy (Def $125,000 AF $128,200 DT), Michael Close (Fwd $125,000 AF $128,200 DT), mostly teams that wont be seeing September action.

Luke Dahlhaus (Mid/Fwd $482,000 be 148 $ 506,900 be 189 DT) hasnt played since round 12 and has a huge BE due to an injury affected 32, so this week is not the best to grab, but we will be watching to see how his form is coming into a depleted dogs lineup, he could get more midfield time and rack up the points.

Its reaching the time of year that some may not care too much about JS, and are simply looking for a cheap player simply to maximise the cash and best team on field to cement a place in league finals. Tigers are playing their rookies and Adam Marcon (Mid $125,000 AF $105,800 DT) is as much chance to hold a spot as any in the tigers lineup, and he is cheap.

Veteran Hawk player with DT pedigree, super cheap, Brendan Whitecross (Def/Fwd $260,000 be 17 AF $260,900 be 1 DT) has struggled to get a spot in the hawks starting lineup this year. Hes now had two games in a row and scored an impressive 89. If he can hold his spot he has the potential to patch a hole in many a backline whilst allowing some cash to be spent elsewhere.

Anyone looking for a hail mary this week? Jarrad Waite (Fwd $371,000 AF be 107 $ 371,900 be 109) form at the start of the year is one of the reasons North were going so well, and his absence is one of the reasons they havent been going well recently. He is the sort of player who could kick a bagfull, can he do so against port? Need a player to take a punt on for one week just to make league finals? He probably will score 30 but thats the punt.

Not ideal for BE or even price and his form has been slightly down, but you trade Rory Sloane (Mid $570,000 be 146 AF $ 595,400 be 166 DT) in this week solely for the 1 week potential against the bombers.

  • how long will boyd be out?

  • Worth keeping Boyd and Martin? Got Collins and Naismith as cover and #1 spot in league secured

  • Blakely doing all the right things and getting omitted 😩😩😒😒 Spewin

  • 0% gametime this week for Blakely, so only a slight change from his usual 3%.

  • Riewoldt or R.Gray for last forward spot?

  • Jane’s Kelly out is probably worth being in the notable list I would’ve thought…. Argh.

  • Team here
    http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=10nbb81&s=9#.V5nNabh96Uk

My trade thoughts are cox to smith and hams to laird, same amount of premos playing and if suckers is back next week I get an extra premo.

    Thoughts?

    • This is one week where some extra upgrades to cover holes will be required.
Im going to have to take a punt on a fwd/ruck to cover stef martin in DT. sucks.

      • I have to play logan austin… :'(

      • If it makes you feel any better Im taking a donut for my RDT this week, cos I only have cox as ruck backup for Stef, and I dont want to waste a trade, since they are gold over finals.

        • I have to as well for rdt. and im ranked 64th

        • worth going currie to naismith and have only one trade left?

        • How many trades do you have left? I have the same issue and considering burning one of my 3 remaining trades to bring Archie Smith in as cover

          • I have 2. Im set for finals in most leagues, not that highly ranked, and out of eliminator. Trade isnt worth it for me.

  • How long is suckling out?

    • They said just soreness so you’d be hopeful for just one week.

      • makes you wonder why the hell the dogs are resting suckers and boyd, two important defenders, for a huge match against geelong???? thats my only worry, and that it might be an actual injury. especially considering wallis and redpath last week

        >_<

        Bevvy Y U DO DIS?

  • My team this week with only 4K in bank

Shaw, doc, vince, laird, Williams, Biggs (Collins, Hartley)
Danger, rocky, Steven, hunter, titch, b Ellis, c smith, Mathieson (Kelly, Phillips)
    Gawn, Jacobs (Naismith, cox)
Zerrett, Zorko, dusty, r gray, monty, Franklin (hams, Reid)

Was hoping to move this week Biggs and Mathieson for b crouch and mengola, then next week bring in perhaps Cripps for c smith and cox out for rookie but this week have Kelly out

    Options ???

    • Get out Biggs, sub Kelly to the backline, get in Mengola. You’ll have to play collins but only for this week while Kelly is out. Then you have 250+ in the bank to upgrade maybe Matheison to a premo mid like Treloar, Parker, Bont, Neale ect.

  • Gray or Jack Steven to bring in???

    • hard question, both will get tagged this week. Steven will average more but if you need a forward obviously gray then. I would go Steven

    • On pure point potential Id say Steven, however it depends completely on your forward structure.

      • Am I missing something here? Steven the clear choice. How is this even a debate unless bringing Steven in means starting a rookie in the forward line.

  • Will libba go big with half the bulldogs midfield out?? Or trade him?

    • If you have the luxury to trade Libba with the carnage this week, trade. There are better midfield premos.

      • Def: Bartel, Hodge, Laird, Vince, Hemmelmann, Collins. Bench: Kelly & Boyd

Mid: Sloane, Libba, Danger, Rockliff, Merrett, Gibbs, Mathieson, T Mitchell. Bench: S Reid & T. Phillips

Ruck: Gawn, Naismith, Bench Martin & Currie

Fwd: Cox(Swapped for Naismith), Hams, C Smith, Wells, Robinson, Martin.. Bench: Hall & Suckling

        $316,000 in the bank.

I was going to go Cox for Menegola & Libba for Steven… What would you do??

    • he should have been traded out by now. If you have nothing better to do this week I would still trade.

  • Is Boyd only out for a week with soreness. On the Afl team lineups it says he is out with an Achilles injury. Also read an article stating he is added to the Bulldogs injury list.

    • They are saying soreness on the Dogs website. That would imply rested 1 week. However you never no if there will be complications or not with oldman calves.

  • Fuck! Prelims this week in my cash league and already been dealt carnage! Boyd to doc or bartel? I do have collins on the bench but too risky? And stef martin to grundy or jacobs?

  • Worth getting Menengola and play Drummond on field just for a week or get Wills/Marcon and get Johanisen.

Not too concerned about rank and have top 4 locked in all leagues

    • Menegola is the better rookie option. But its at time of year where cashcow potential is potentially less important than fixing your onfield structure.

having a decent rookie emergency for backup is still a consideration.

  • Have Suckling and Boyd out and backline is currently as follows:

DEF: Boyd, Docherty, Shaw, Suckling, Kolo, Ruggles (Lee, Broad)

I’m not too fussed about my overall rank although it is within the top 3000 which I’m happy with, I just want to win my league and I should this week anyway. I’ve got two options:

    1) Boyd –> Simpson
    Suckling –> Laird

    2) Lee –> Z. Cordy (Play on ground for 1 week)
    Suckling –> Simpson

Whats better? And is Boyd definitely out for this one week?

    • Id consider Whitecross as a possible cover. he looks a bit more settled in the hawks lineup IMO.

    • I’ve got a similar issue. Have gone Suckling to Bartel and Brand(Lee) to Drummond on field. Keeps me with Boyd, hopefully back next week. I wish they were clearer in saying someone is rested.
Suckling to Bartel a upgrade anyway imo

  • Play collins or ruggles?

  • Who will be out for longer suckling or Boyd?

  • Any chance Laird an out for Sunday? is he usually named on the bench?

  • Thanks to the Boyd and Martin omissions my Super Coach team is dead. The AFL fantasy team should still be okay.

  • Got ruggles, tucker, Collins, Mathieson,Reid, frost, clay smith, hams, Phillips, linc mc carthy
Who to get rid of first for a upgrade downgrade?

  • I had planned on going Ruggles to Docherty this week then downgrade to Menegola, holding Hall….BUT with Stef out i’ve had to DPP and move Naismith to replace him.

So thinking of holding Ruggles once again (will be Docherty next week with spare cash), DPP Tom Phillips to F8, trade Mason Cox to Menegola then trade Hall to someone under $520k.

Thoughts on this move and who to bring in??

Riewoldt, Montagna, Buddy, or anyone else

Already have Dusty, Merrett, Gray, Zorko, Clay Smith

Leaves me $180k next week for Ruggles upgrade….

    • Riewold or montagna hard to go past with games under the roof.

Dahlias if you were a bit more game could be an option. But i would be leaning towards the volt.

  • hams to menegola via dpp locked in.

    Thoughts on second trade though?

kerridge > gibbs or anyone up to sloane
    OR
kelly > docherty (have collins for bench cover this week)

any help would be great thanks guys!!

  • should i go docerty or jj in this week. based on my trades for next week, if i go doc this week i might not be able to get martin and dahlhaus depending on price rises and price drops.. but if i go jj i can definetly get both and mabe even have some money left over?

any help would be appreciated :)
    cheers

  • Aaaand Ruggles survives another week. Hoping to complete my team sometime this season.

  • Kelly, Suckers and Stef out. Have no ruck cover for Stef.
Should I waste a trade to get cover for Stef or cop a donut and fix the other issues?

    • Fix suckers, and consider carefully. Kelly and Stef are the only ones listed as “rested”

  • are boyd and suckling just a week?

  • Who should i Bring in? Docherty or Gibson? Gibson will save me money and tends to do better against the lower ranked teams but is risky and Doch is pretty safe.

    • Docherty is a gun this year. Gibbo is erratic. He has the odd huge score, but a lot of crap.

  • With Stefan out, is it worth passing on Menegola to bring Archie Smith as cover? The other option is for me to double downgrade. I have a top 4 spot locked away in my main league.

    • Menegola makes sense to generate cash, but if you have other pressing issues then pass on him

    • If you’re not concerned about overall rank then double downgrading should put you in a great position next week

  • Can get any mid except for Danger, Rocky, Hunter, Pendlebury, Duncan, Hannebery and Gaff
I’m just looking for best average for rest of the season and I don’t care about value
    Who should I get?

  • Should I field Menegola over Kerridge?
    Thoughts?

    • I’d say yes. considering that Menegola’s named, and altho Kerridge is as well, there was a shoulder concern that he played through last week.

Watch my fantasy video for tips to how to deal with the Round 19 outs and it shows my team.

  • Who should I put on field out of Collins and Drummond?

  • Kennedy, who set a record at the Swans for most disposals in a single season last year, is on track to set a new mark in 2016 with four games plus the finals to come.
