AFL Teams 2015: Round 8

The Ins and Outs are up for round 8, and many of us are excited about some of the big inclusions.
28 changes to Fri / Sat teams & 7 confirmed outs so far for Sunday squads.
Auto-lock captain Lewis is back as well as a big name for Pies, Port and the Eagles. There are a few new rookies named to keep your eyes on.

Fantasy Relevant Omissions :

Mitch Duncan – will be out for 3 months with a broken foot, a few jumped on him after some huge scores.
Matthew Dick (Omitted) for those who picked him up.
Jack Lonie (concussion) and Jarryn Geary (corked thigh) is still out
Nick Riewoldt – although not really DT relevant this year, he is DT royalty is out after that sickening collision last week.
Dom Sheed (Hand), Jackson Nelson (Omitted)
To Add to Lachie Whitfield owners grief hes out with Illness
Brodie Smith – concussion, from the same incident with saint Nick
Matthew Jaensch – will be out for the rest of the year after rupturing his ACL.
Zac Smith (Omitted) is he still DT relevent?
Alex Pearce (Back bruising ) always going to be replaced by Luke McPharlin eventually
Bombers rookies Jason Ashby (Shoulder), Kyle Langford (Quad) out with injury.
Andrew Swallow (Hand) – If you still have him, its time to trade
Mitch Honeychurch – Ommitted after having little impact against Freo. TRADE.
Christian Salem – is set to miss a few weeks with a hamstring injury, also put him on your trade list.
Sam Blease (Omitted) and Dean Towers (Omitted) both rookies that didnt make the cut.

And oh Patrick Karnezis is also ommitted, but he’s on many peoples never again lists for this very reason.

Fantasy Relevant Inclusions :

Jordan Lewis – Need I say more!
James Kelly, Andrew Mackie are in to bolster peoples defences
Kade Simpson, Patrick Cripps are back in for the blues.
But there is still no Matthew Kreuzer.
Blake Acres and Tim Membrey- Rookie
Jeremy McGovern – after a late withdraw last week is back in.
Scott Selwood – Scooter is back!
Cam Ellis-Yolmen – Many who held him will be very happy
A HUGE inclusion is Steele Sidebottom for the pies from a broken thumb.
Adam Saad – some cover those backline holes in our defence for those who held.
Isaac Smith – has recovered from his illness.
Adam Cooney, Jake Carlisle, Paul Chapman return for bombers.
A couple of rookies Orazio Fantasia, Shaun Edwards extended bench
A new rookie Liam Dawson named on extended bench for Brisbane
Jesse Hogan – Back from bootcamp with General Soreness.
Jack Macrae returns after smashing it up in the seconds (why was he dropped?)
Ollie Wines – Quadzilla is back!
Ben Griffiths is back (making it unlikely Liam McBean to hold his spot)

New Rookies

Trent Dumont
NM Mid. ($120k AF, $124.6k RDT)
Another rookie that we have been waiting to have a non sub affected game, finally given another chance.

Blake Acres
STK Mid. ($161k AF, $208.8k RDT)
A rookie expected to play earlier than this. Form in preseason comp and seconds has been solid.

Orazio Fantasia
ESS Fwd. ($142k AF, $156.2k RDT)
The kid has been smashing it up in the seconds, and had solid preseason comp form
Watch to see if he makes the sunday list

Shaun Edwards
ESS Def ($164k AF, $124.6k RDT)
Def rookie that was on our preseason radar. Watch to see if he makes the sunday list

Liam Dawson BRIS Mid ($163k AF, $117.9k RDT)
Another new rookie named on extended bench.

Henry Schade, Bailey Dale, Jack Leslie, Billy Stretch, Eli Templeton, Jordan De Goey are some of the rookies that kept their spots.

Karl Amon, Connor Menadue, Todd Elton, Liam McBean, Shaun McKernan are others that are on extended benches for Sunday games.

Refer to Jeppa’s Juniors for more infomation on these players

Other Thoughts

Steele Sidebottom was in many peoples teams at the start for a reason, he has a BE of 130 AF, 175 RDT, so watch him for this week. He may dampen Swan’s output if Swan finds himself up forward more.

Another huge inclusion is Ollie Wines who was in great form before his wrist injury. BE 104 AF, 117 RDT are both within his range, but its probably a good strategy to wait and see if he has an injury affected game.

Scott Selwood BE 75 AF BE 61 RDT, is another underpriced premium who some may like to grab as a smokey, he also has the handy round 13 bye.

Jake Carlisle is back making it less likely that McKernan will stay (watch for sunday teams), which is good news for Bellchambers owners, who had an low output last week sharing the ruck.

Minson is STILL not in the team. Ayce Cordy owners rejoice.

  • thanks Shags.
Now lets hope Cripps, Saad and CEY play!

  • maybe its just me but every one seems to be falling over themselves to get lewis back in this week and tho i think he is a beast i dont think he will be pumping out anymore than 110 this week as sydney have not given away too many dt tons this year. just my opinion but i will be going ROK as the bombers are leaking points like crazy and will bring in lewis next week when he plays the suns

    • I agree. Rocky is 200k cheaper and even if he only gets 90 to 100,I still have 200k to upgrade else where. Like Salem to Yeo. Lewis has a be of 135. Even if he gets a respectable 110,he will drop in price. Ripe for the picking next week I think.

      • my thoughts exactly bud

      • uhhh if he gets 110 and goes down 10-15k thats not exactly “ripe for the picking” at still right near 700k

        • never said ripe but when ROK is playin bombers and Lewis vs the swans its an easy decision for me if ROK makes $15000 this week and Lewis loses $15000 it efectively cost ya $30000 from ya bank by being a week late on ROK

          • hang on Ryan O’Keefe doesn’t play anymore….

            …oh you mean Rocky.

Man ROK blast from the past :P

          • Im not sure the Bombers are any easier to score fantasy points on than the Swans looking at the stats. But Im holding off on getting Lewis back for at least this week

          • Yeah ROK is definitely not Rocky

          • OMFG if thats the only thing you have to contribute please dont. yes i made the error of ROK instead of Rocky but geez some of you guys only seem to comment have have a dig at everyone or be a smartass why dont you actually try giving some helpful advice instead of trying to feel awesome by correcting someone.

          • ANDY HAWK since rd 4 essendon have given up 17 tons as where sydney have only given up 9. also the size of the scores guys are pumping out against essendon are much larger they have allowed 11 scores of 110 or higher in that time sydney only has 4 with only picken monstering them with 143

    • I’m not. never traded him in the first place :P

    • Ryan O’Keffe doesn’t play anymore mate. He retired last year

    • I think you’re seeing things that aren’t there. Essendon have only leaked on average 0.7 more tons than Sydney have so far this season.

      • NATHAN77 i think you should have a look at ya research cos since rd 4 essendon have given up 17 tons as where sydney have only given up 9. also the size of the scores guys are pumping out against essendon are much larger they have allowed 11 scores of 110 or higher in that time sydney only has 4 with only picken monstering them with 143 so maybe you should research a lil bit more before ya try and poke holes in my theory.

  • no glenn glenn :(

  • Is Thurlow and titchell sub risks ?

  • Scott Selwood or Yeo this week now?

    • Yeo’s low BE will make it easier to trade him out if his role changes with Selwood back in the side, then again Selwood could score real bad first few games back and be eased back into it?

    • Good point. What do there think?

    • yeo for sure selwood may get subbed if there was a wafl game this week he wouldnt even be in the side only in cos they want the run in his legs

  • Lewis or Sidebottom? Sidebottom is 100k cheaper nearly and has the Suns, could go beast mode

    • Id personally wait 1 week to see how Sidebum goes. General rule of thumb (excuse the pun). Hey I should have used that above!

  • Amon likely to be omitted?? Was going to downgrade to him but worries me being on the extended bench

    • Check the Sunday teams about 5ish tomorrow. I cant see him being omitted, but he is a sub risk.

      • Unfortunately I wont be around to check it, so going to have to take a punt on it

  • Yeo named RR, get him in over Tom Mitchell??

  • no way mitchell is an absolute gun mate way more reliable to score tons than yeo

  • Play Cripps or CEY?

    • MMm I’m thinking CEY he almost tonned a few weeks ago

      • im fielding both, but you cant go too wrong, both should get 80-100 scores i rekon, especially CEY with adelaide’s injury-ridden team atm. (missing sloane, smith and jaensch – runners)

    • i would be going with cripps the weeks rest will do him well and should score pretty well against geelong as they are not the team they once were and are leaking quite a few fantasy points. would prefer to see CEY have a run before placing him on field especially after a few weeks out with hammys.

  • Downgrade to Blake Acres, Trent Dumont or Karl Amon??

    • Amon would be my pic he may miss out this week but should slot back in after cornes retires this weekend.

    • Thats a great question.

They are all sub risks unfortunately. Its sub lotto.

Amon is a ball magnet, if they can give him a full game I think he will go great.

  • Asked in my team section and slightly here, but would it be better to bring in Treloar/Rischitelli and Vandenberg > Lewis and Rockliff or
Salem and Treloar/Rischitelli > Lewis and Yeo or Scott Selwood

    • i would be holding off on lewis till next week has a be of around 135 plays the swans and wont score more than about 110 IMO. Rok plays the bombers who are leaking points like crazy and is more likely to raise in value than lewis.

bring in Yeo and ROK IMO

      • also selwood is likely to see the sub vest before the end of the game if there was wafl game this week he would be playing there instead.

      • You stated this above, but remember the Bombers play a high-possession ‘chip around’ game which inhibits the opponents time with the ball.

Sydney have conceded on average 2.7 tons per game this year (very good)
Essendon are middle of the pack at 3.4. The Bulldogs who have done okay this year leak on average 4.7.

        • you shouldt get caught up with whole year stats mate look at the last month is my way. sydney started the year like poo and are only just hitting their straps matey if you do the sums over the last 4 to 5 weeks sydney give away F all and essendon are giving away tons like crazy just my opinion tho.

  • How many weeks will geary be out for? Should I hold or trade him??

    • hold matey he will be back next week just a bad corkie but it depends on what ya team looks like and what trades you plan for this week

    • Probably just the one. Honestly, the way he’s been playing him missing is good since he won’t lose any more value, I’m holding and turning him into Rocky next week.

    • surely a good chance to trade him to Rocky? the guy isnt a keeper anyway

      • yeah but don’t really wanna sideways trade at the moment, would rather play berg this week and upgrade elsewhere

  • You wait all week for the Thursday teams… and then you have to wait for Friday to see the extended bench cuts… and then you still don’t know who will be sub…

  • Would love a discussion on who to pick out of Amon, Acres and Dumont. Am worried about Amon losing his spot and sub risks for all 3

    • Plenty of people weighing up the same questions, me included. I’m leaning towards Amon at the moment, just ahead of Acres. Think Amon has better scoring potential, but unsure on either of their JS though!
Not convinced Dumont will keep his spot more than a couple of weeks.

      • For byes… Last thing we want is to downgrade a rookie getting 100% game time (eg-V’Berg) to someone like Amon who may be subbed often, or even lose his spot!! Some hard decisions to be made :)

    • Cornes retires after this week freeing up a spot for Amon. Some will argue that someone like Colquhoun or Ah Chee could come up from the reserves but I reckon there’s definitely a better chance of Amon taking the spot given that he’s already in the team!

    • Dumont is 100% sub with Gibson, Atley and Jacobs there. Acres very shaky JS and Amon not much better. Not too excited about any of them

  • Bailey Dale named on field for WBD. Worth a downgrade?

    • AS good a Rookie downgrade as any.

    • Seems to have somewhat gone under the radar. Anyone waiting on the sideline to take his spot?

      • Well Hrovat is out of sorts but is very talented and should be best 22 eventually, but it looks good for Dale if he’s getting named on field ahead of Honey, Hunter, Macrae, Hrovat, Goodes and a few others.

        • Indeed it does, might go him this week for Salem. 50 against Freo is certainly serviceable, and it gives me another week to look at Amon. Cheers for mentioning him!

    • Jeppas notes on him werent exactly glowing, looks like another with questionable job security. I definitely wont be trading any of these new mid rooks in for RDT, probably going to stick with Amon in fantasy, need to bank some coin.

      • Interesting reading.
I really liked Dailey Bale… I mean Bailey Dale’s game on the weekend against Freo. I’d get him in based on his attitude. Never sure about the JS tho. I won’t be able to get him in at this stage… I’ve got Stretch on the bench … ouch.

  • mundy hardly trained today and still had his head wrapped up. wouldnt be surprised to see a late out for mzungu

  • Which def would you NOT play: Oxley, Mcintosh, Saad, Lumumba, Kelly… Need 4/5 on field.
Had to trade Salem and Hchurch this week so had to hold lumumba/mcintosh

  • When will Kreuzer get back?

    • Who cares, just another Leuey/TBC headache to make you hate life.

      • The problem for Kreuzer isn’t scoring points its getting out on the field and then staying there. If he manages to start playing full games and not get injured again (fingers crossed) then he should be good for 75-80.

        • except he’s being used as a FWD in the VFL games

which means (because it’s Carlton) that he’s going to spud

  • What would you do play Bellchambers against stef martin or mitch clark against a shocking Carlton decisions? jake kelly or adam saad? please Help!

    • not sure on chambers vs clark. anyone else got advice??
but definately go Kelly, Adelaide defense lacking smith and jaensch = more time for kelly in defense and he wins lots of 50/50 ball-contests. i brought kelly in last week.

      • I thought that would mean Kelly would go into more of a lock down role. The’ll use Henderson and NVB as the rebounding HB’s IMO.

    • McCarthy, who is also the 2nd forward scored 88 last week vs Carlton. Clark would be good for 70 at least imo.

  • get in parker or rocky?

  • How does Glen to Amon then Vberg to Sidebottom sound?

Then next week will be able to upgrade Cripps to Rocky.

All do I get Lewis at all cost?

    • Makes little sense to bring in sidey this week. Hasn’t played in ages and BE is 130

      Better options for sure

    • Sidebottoms BE is achievable, and it would be a hell of a POD if he comes out firing.

But general rule of thumb (get it hahaha thumb….nah thats terrible)

You really should wait 1 week to see an injured premo play before grabbing him. He could play an injury affected game, or get the red vest.

  • Gah I cant decide on trading Cripps BE 80 or Kmac BE 69.

I cant decide to risk Yeo, Titch, or Barlow (although barlow BE 109 can wait 1 week). this is RDT so would be for keeps.

leaning towards Yeo as in RDT with no Mundy or Boyd, premo def are few and far between.

    • Ziebel is another one I might consider as a smokey.

      • I agree with the smokey Ziebell. His form is slowly heading back up towards what everyone thought he’d be at at the start of the year.

Yeo in RDT. There haven’t been enough keepers down back…

    • Cripps BE is 30, and he averages 80, keep him

  • Considering bringing in either CEY or Kelly from Adelaide this week. With both listed on the bench, are either in danger of being the sub? On the other side of the world, so I can’t ever react to late breaking news, thus not considering Amon or Dumont as options for this week.

    • Both very good Break Evens this week. CEY at 0, Kelly at -13.
CEY is coming off a two week hammy break. Kelly is flying, but his role could change with both BSmith and Jaensch out.

    • I wouldn’t bring in Kelly. When I researched Kelly, he didn’t seem to be regarded as a big ball winner. His first 3 games were between 40 and 60 from memory. I’m not sure if Kelly can maintain his last 3 weeks. Kelly was worth it at a rookie price, but not at the price he is now, in my opinion. Ellis Yolmen will be more consistent and still has some money to make. I doubt Yolmen gets vested, I think he usually spends most of the games in the mid field. All the crows recent injuries makes his on field spot even more secure in my opinion.

I’d strongly reconsider bringing in Amon, sure he might get vested, but he will give you more cash to upgrade other players, and because of his lower price has more money to make

  • should i get in Dumont or Amon who will get more cash

    • Amon I think. He scored 52 in just over a quarter, Dumont got dropped after his first game, so I think Amon has better job security. Amon also has a lower break even (3 vs 30)

  • Who is more likely to get a the tag Jobe or Hep?

  • Which two would you play on the field?

    Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen, Krakouer, Saad
