Calvin’s Captains is back and round two has arrived.
Over in our Patreon, you can read the full and extended article each and every week. Over there, I go through the best players (on Tuesday) and analyse their match-ups, taggers, what their opponents give up, past performances, weather conditions, history at the ground and much more. This game by game and player previews occur on Tuesday, followed by my final top-10 which are announced on Thursday at 7:00pm, in the exact order that I would pick them. I’ll also let you know my VC and Captains for the week.

CALVIN’S TOP-5 CAPTAINS
No. 1 – Green v WCE
@ Optus, SUN 6:50pm
145 (37d, 9t) last week in an easy match-up and it just got easier… despite Green only having 90 (at Optus) last season against the Eagles. They were the easiest team for MIDs to score against in 2023 and last week, Rozee 111 and Butters 107 had their turn. In that game 13 out of the top 14 scorers were Port players and here the points will be flowing.
No. 2 – Serong v North
@ Marvel, SAT 1:45pm
Form is a huge factor for Calvin’s Captains and anyone coming off 161 with 46 touches, needs to be seriously considered. He scored 115 on the Roos last year and even had 134 in his last game at Marvel. Look… he must be in my top-3 this week based on form and this match-up that saw Green score 145 and 5 other players hit 100-plus against the Kangaroos last week.
No. 3 – Daicos v St Kilda
@ MCG, THURS 7:30pm
He’s the man! 123 last week and 111 in the Opening Round, Daicos is elite and gets the job done. He had 42 touches and 136 on the Saints last year but don’t be surprised if the Saints have a plan for him on Thursday. Windhager would be the man I get to run with him… but good luck with that Windy. Super VC option nice and early.
No. 4 – Merrett v Sydney
@ the SCG, SAT 7:30pm
Merrett has a good record at the SCG and posted 140 (at Marvel) against the Swans last year. Sydney don’t have taggers at the moment and Zach could be great, like he was last week when he had 125. In round one, Daicos 123 and DeGoey 89 were the best MIDs against the Swans. Back him in, for another 120-plus score here.
No. 5 – Marshall v Coll.
@ MCG, THURS 7:30pm
Scored a nice 118 last week and last year against the Pies… he had 134. Now, on that day, he only went up against Billy Frampton. Will be slightly harder than that, especially when you consider what Cameron/Cox did to Grundy (53) last week and Briggs (65) in the Opening Round. If you are an owner, you shouldn’t be too stressed. He’s awesome.
0 from 2.
So. Do I take the VC loophole with Steele or stick with Greene against WC?

Imagine being a free loader and still talking shit.
Guys leave Calvin alone; he’s doing his best. Yes he isn’t doing very well and no he likely won’t make it into the top 10k but he’s still an ok guy.
There’s always lame people that use hindsight to have a go at Calvin and or anyone else for that matter. They are really not worth anything. I don’t think these nuffies even bother the traders anymore.
dawson vice tn?
I have an issue in every player I have is playing. I had Dawson as my VC that I want to utilise, is there a way to make it happen when I have no doughnuts to loophole? TIA
So you don’t have Carlton or Brisbane players? Well, my suggestion is to bring in Zac Williams or a non playing rookie that will probably get a game later in the season from any team and make them the C.
Best 18 only this week, you may have to sacrifice a playing mid pricer. I’m sure there are trades you can reverse if you made 2 already.
Unfortunately I traded already. Everyone in my team has the green dot.
Grundy to Xerri
Wines to Billing’s.
Chasing the $$ as well as better players.
Was hoping there was a potential “other” loophole 😎
You can still edit the trade, change Billings or Xerri to a non playing player within the salary cap if your’e really desperate.
LOL and these guys are still allowed to give advice.
Easy to sit behind your keyboard like a hero and take pot shots. Where’s your followers? Where’s your website?
Nobody cares for your opinion, no doubt, so you come here to feel better about being a loser?
Give yourself an uppercut, loser.
Can it college boy
Piss off gronk.

Did I over invest in Roos and dockers I have 8, and I’m thinking about getting sharp and get Fyfe or if I have enough cash even serong even bray
Isaac Heeney for the brownlow? Not to late to place your bets.
I was going great but Coffield, lucky for us it’s best 18 cause holy heck
Amount of cash left from sexton to Jackson (157k) or Powell (356k) other trade is Whitfield to Wanganeen-Milera cause my bench is Coffield and Reid
