Welcome back to another edition of our best Draftstars’ Plays of the Weekend. With another huge kitty on offer for both the Saturday and Sunday contests, we have put our Fantasy brains together to hopefully, steer you in the right directly of some cold hard cash.
DETAILS:
$75k kitty on Saturday and Sunday
$7,415 to the winner… paying $29.99 to 1,467th
James Jordan (MID, $7,520)
Saturday v St Kilda
This is a much tougher match up for the rookie who debuted with 80 last week but he is worth another shot. Jordan was impressive last week with 15 disposals but it’s the injury to James Harmes that increases his stocks against the Saints.
Harmes attended 20 centre bounces last weekend for Melbourne and with his recent wrist injury, Jordan should be stepping up with more of a presence at stoppages. He attended just eight centre bounces last week and could even be better in round two off the back of some bad luck to one of his team mates.
Nick Hind (FWD, $9,640)
Saturday Vs Port Adelaide
Coming off the half-back line for the Bombers, you can confidently pick up Nick Hind as a FWD in this Saturday’s contest. He scored a sensational 100 on debut for his new club last week and looked a million dollars, and here… he is under $10k.
Against the Hawks last week he racked up 26 possessions and six marks to register his first 100+ score in his 22-game career.
Zach Merrett (MID, $17,810)
Saturday Vs Port Adelaide
Pay up! Merrett heads to South Australia on Saturday to a ground where he has averaged 127 in his last three games. He meets a team that has been one of his favourite teams to score against over his career. In fact, he has played Port Adelaide eight times with a lowest score of only 98 and a career average of 120. BANG!
Merrett scored a solid 111 last week, after starting with a 50pt opening term before receiving a little bit of attention from Liam Shiels. Merrett is an out-right ball winning machine and although Port can be a scary match-up for others, it has never bothered Merrett in the past.
Matt Flynn (MID, $10,810)
Sunday Vs Fremantle
Flynn scored 99 last week to be the highest scoring ruckman of the round. Although his price in Draftstars has increased by nearly $2,000 from round one, the big fella still needs to be seriously considered. On Sunday, he is only up against another rookie in Meek (or Dracy coming off an injury). Unlike the other rucks last week, Flynn found the ball. In fact, he was one of two ruckman who found the ball 15+ times.
Stephen Coniglio (MID, $14,710)
Sunday Vs Fremantle
Coniglio only scored 85 last week which could make him unique on Sunday as a sneaky option as many will steer clear. The thing is, his record against Fremantle is something worth noting.
In his last five games against them he has posted super numbers of 119, 112, 161, 123 and 120. This is the final game of the round and Coniglio could be coming home like a steam train to climb you up the Draftstars’ leaderboard.
Caleb Daniel (DEF, $14,000)
Sunday v West Coast
I understand my love affair with defenders and in particular Caleb Daniel is borderline unhealthy but hear me out.
He is coming off 111 and meets a team who gave up plenty to their opposition defenders last week. In round one, the Eagles let the Gold Coast defenders do as they please allowing five of them to take double-figure marks. This is unheard of.
Players such as Bowes (14 marks, 135pts) and Markov (14 marks 108pts) had one of their best games in their career to date, and if Daniel can get amongst the marks like they did, then a huge score will be on the cards.
REMINDER: Teams for Saturday are announced tonight with Sunday games being announced on Saturday night. Be sure to check final teams before entering your team to play.
