Clarky has emailed us with his thoughts on how much a trade is worth. Using his team as an example. Some thought provoking stuff! What value do you put on a trade?
Current Team
DEF: Hodge, Goddard, Enright, Broughton, Kennelley, Waters, Maguire (Nason, Hunt)
MID: Bartel, O’Keefe, Mitchell, Barlow, Ball, Martin (Shuey, Banner)
RUC: Sandilands, Seaby, Warnock, McEvoy
FWD: Brown, Betts, Giansiracusa, Hall, Podsiadly, Franklin, Gumbleton (Hitchcock, Riewoldt)
At present I have $96800 in bank.
Obviously I need to get rid off Reiwoldt so here are my options:
OPTION 1
Roo to Pav or Brennan – makes another $35-40000, then I can upgrade ball to someone around $480000 or less.
THIS WILL USE TWO TRADES AND INJECT TWO PREMIUM KEEPERS INTO MY SIDE
OPTION 2
Roo to Rockliff this will make another $344000 ($440000 in bank), then I could go Shuey (cos he wont play for a few weeks) to Kane Lucas to make some money (with his low BE his price will sky rocket) I will pocket another $35000 from this trade. With these two trades I will then have $475000 in the bank.
THIS USES TWO TRADES AND I GET NO KEEPERS (yet)
The following week I could trade Ball to a premium mid (use between $100-150000)
and then one of my rookie fwd (Gumby) or Hall for a premium
FOUR TRADES NOW USED TWO PREMIUM ADDED TO THE TEAM AND WILL STILL HAVE 100-150000 IN THE BANK –
In Summary
An extra two trades have been used in option 2 to get two premiums but I have injected two new cash cows into the team which can be used to downgrade/upgrade at a later date. I know Shuey hasn’t peaked yet (used him as example) but over the next few weeks he will make me nothing. Kane Lucas should make $60-70000 in that period (if he keeps playing well so hence my question.
WHAT VALUE DO YOU PUT ON A TRADE?????
If Rockliff and Lucas continue to play as they are they have the “potential” to net me over 300000. This extra cash could come in very handy towards in 4-6 weeks time when my initial “cash cows” in Waters, Martin, Hunt, Gumby, Nason, Banner etc peak in price they can be upgraded to a prems. Is each of those trades worth $150000)
I see a lot of rookies doing the second option – They think making money is the key to get your premiums later. What they dont understand is that later in the season players like Abblet Chappy etc get rested and have niggling injuries that they want to get sorted prior to finals – hence the trades towards the end of the season become very valuable.
Fast forward 17 weeks to the last round of the season – Your playing your mate in the league granny and you hear the following news
- Brown OUT
- Boyd OUT
- Mitchell OUT
This could possibly happen this week. You have no bench cover and your all outta trades. All because you were a happy trader early in the season all to make a few dollars –
THOSE DOLLARS ARE NOW GIVING YOU DONUTS
Hope you get my drift.
