Somebody needs to let some of our players know we aren’t dropping off scores anymore, that simply wasn’t good enough. It’s time for your weekly fantasy therapy session, it’s time for the weekend wash-up!
LEGENDS
McKercher (124) – If Colby gets moved forward Clarko should be sacked on the spot, we were robbed of a 150! When you have a bloke like Caleb Daniel back there hitting 15m sideways passes, there’s no way Colby should be going anywhere. Down back he is a stud and for the price he’s dominating for our fantasy sides, L3 109 L5 100. Absolute legend!
Merrett (145) – What an ultimate comeback performance. This was somewhat expected, but its a reminder Zach Merrett is still only 29 and one of the great fantasy players in our game… And he faces the Tigers next week. This was his highest percentage of CBAs since round 10 (81%). There are more tags on the horizon though.
Libba (138) – The highest rated game of this career in his 250th! Massive bounceback but he remains a draft guy only.
Bont (133) – Better. Much better. Prime Bont is a tackling machine and that was more like it, however the fixture couldn’t have been better. I’m expecting big things in a massive game against the Crows who shouldn’t tag.
English (116) – Way to bounce back Tim. L5 119 is amazing work, Grundy R1 English R2 it’s a throwback year in the ruck.
Daicos (132) – OK, Nick Daicos is officially off my sh*t list. L3 of 123 and a L5 116, that was dominant. 2 contested marks as well!!!
Cameron (115) – L3 of 115. R3 on averages behind Gawn and English, he just gets it done. Genius draft pick.
Callaghan (120) – Honestly his shoulder injury was the beginning of the end of my season, he’s now clearly GWS’ best player when you see him sprinting away from stoppages. L8 of 107 makes him a clear top 8 mid, I would just be concerned that tags are on the way. Finn honestly made the Eagles look like ammos footballers, he walked out of contests. Incredible player.
Anderson (122) – I couldn’t believe my eyes seeing Noah Anderson on 22 points at HT against Essendon. How about a 100 point second half comeback! Owning Nando isn’t a smooth ride, but there will be highs.
Noble (111) – Johnny Noble had a down month, and outside of that he has averaged triple figures. You couldn’t… Could you? He’s a bargain but not close to a top 6 defender.
Holmes (122) – Homma you great man, when Baz is out you can lock him in for 35 and a goal. I can see why he was getting tagged at the start of the season, I’d brace for a couple of tough weeks ahead. Luckily he cashes in when he gets the chance (7 scores of 115+!).
Cameron (117) – One week Jezza plays towards the end of the season are absolutely worth considering. Just a gun.
Butters (119) – My favourite trade target of the week, Zak Butters has been getting it done in a tough stretch of fixtures and now faces the Eagles. Get on board.
McCluggage (112) – He is in the top 10 players based on L5 averages, somewhat carried by his 152. Still, Clugga is getting it done.
Rozee (111) – Connor Rozee is now officially 100% owned in the top 100. The definition of a must have.
NWM (145) – 43 disposals (33 kicks) and 6 marks, 3 behinds too so it could have been bigger. CAN SOMEBODY TAG THIS BLOKE?! Braeden Campbell I am on my knees begging, please get it done. What a legend.
Marshall (140) – What a second half, 96 of the best! Ro dog is capable of these monsters, especially after I trade him out. Will I ever learn? Probably not.
Meek (138) – 59 hit outs if you don’t mind… He dominated Marshall in the ruck and the big fella is starting to cook.
Steele (130) – 15 tackles, and his standard 8 kicks. He can get it done in fantasy but it isn’t pretty. I’m not interested.
Hall (124) – Max Hall with 27 and 3 if you don’t mind! This would have been awesome during the byes, but what a rookie he has been. Epic player.
Macrae (123) – 10 tackles, L3 of 105, and the Saints run is about to get very nice… Check out their scores this week! Fantasy heaven. Macrae is a must have forward.
Gulden (127) – A midfielder that just gets it done, they are few and far between these days. Will the Saints send Windy to him? It will be Heeney surely… Gulden will be a must have.
Grundy (113) – Incredible. The ruck pig is back I guess, my bingo card was way off the mark. What an epic switch with Max Gawn.
LOSERS
Martin (74) – Well done VC. Embarrassing. Nic wasn’t interested and let me tell you he is on notice against the Tiger’s, I’m expecting nothing short of a 140. Annoyingly he gets a free pass for me thanks to his forward status but he isn’t getting the armband again any time soon.
Petracca (70) – Trac had 29 in the first term as Melbourne were on top and then I guess his mind turned towards tonight’s meal to cook. His next 4 games look pretty nice with North, Blues, Saints and West Coast and he’s a bit of a flat track bully, let’s hope he actually shows up.
Sheezel (93) – Sheezel played 90% of Q1 forward, and had 1 kick. Brilliant stuff. It took LDU going down to get him in the middle and what a shocker, he had 8 disposals AND A GOAL in Q2. Because who knew, you can actually push forward from the midfield as well? It took Sydney 8 years to figure that out. Anyway…… Let’s hope it sticks. It probably won’t.
Kennedy (85) – Two in a row in the mids 80s, it feels greedy when I see some of my forward scores but for those that paid $1.1M, this is hurting.
Richards (84) – Ed is a gun but he just doesn’t get enough marks and tackles to consistently take him to that 100+ score. Time to go.
Dale (59) – Bazza copped a forward tag from Konstanty so he swapped forward in the 2nd qtr. Speaking of things not on the bingo card, who the hell saw that coming. Disaster. I am amazed we don’t see more forward tags on these damaging half backs, if Konstanty and Campbell can become a legit forward taggers you have to worry it will become more popular.
Long (78) – Our final ever Ned Long mention. Farewell champion, he was a difference maker this season.
Hewett (68) – So much for a safe value pick with Sam Walsh out. The CBAs were there, the role was there, the ability was not. He’s just a boring pick isn’t he.
TDK (48) – TDK surely has one foot in the door at St Kilda, but if this is how he plays in a dual ruck setup I have no idea what the Saints are seeing in him. Embarrassing stuff.
Caldwell (79) – Well this just f***ing sucks doesn’t it. Jye Caldwell is set to have ankle surgery (been there) and is probably out for the season. The syndy strikes back. Thank god thousands of coaches jumped on board to come down with me! This game sh*ts me.
Flanders (73) – We would take this as a value pick at the start of the season, but this isn’t going to cut the mustard in Round 17. 4 kicks and 20 handballs, the role might have improved but Sam Flanders fantasy friendly game remains nowhere to be seen.
Stewart (73) – That’s about 50 point unders against the Tigers, and coaches brought him in for this game! I have zero interest in Tom Stewart at this price, yuck.
Prestia (57) – I’m just making sure we never consider this guy again.
Zorko (79) – Zork has been a roller coaster of late, with only 2 tons in his last 5 going @99. However he is a differential in the top 100 and we know he has a ceiling, I’m considering chasing.
Dunkley (78) – Washed. Good riddance.
W.Ashcroft (66) – Lol. People will consider him priced around 90 next season. Good luck to them.
Bergman (64) – I see, so Bergman got his money and ****** off did he? 11 CBAs in Q1 as they got trounced, and was moved permanently to defence. Was that because they were getting smashed in the mids or needed him in defence? I might hold him for West Coast, then he has to go. It’s not an enjoyable ride.
Moore (71) – Yeah I’ll put my hand up here. In no world can Dylan Moore be considered a reliable option. There’s just much better forwards to target and they’re worth paying up for.
Brayshaw (85) – Old lead boots is back. Even when Serong is getting attention he can’t get off the chain, luckily he should make up for it back at home. He better.
Bolton (56) – We just can’t be seriously selecting Shai Boilton in our fantasy classic sides, and I’ll leave it at that.
Clark (46) – Embarrassing.
Serong (46) – EMBARRASSING. The Freo boys get a little bit of close attention and fold like a bunch of deckchairs, it’s why I happily never own a Docker. Those two big scores coming off his bye are now completely useless if you held, that’s a killer.
Roberts (36) – He should be gone from our classic sides, but this treatment hurts in draft too. And Sydney won. Mills killed him.
Gawn (89) – If Grundy can post 120 against ROB, I expect better Max. I’m not sure Xerri knows what planet he’s on at the moment so if he plays I’m hoping Max still goes massive.
THIS GAME SH*TS ME
I think we can all agree that we’re over Geelong’s arrogant bullsh*t. It’s pathetic. Naming Baz as a late out against THE TIGERS. Not to mention Bazza’s main character syndrome, oh the drama. Smith is a headline every week and often it’s for the wrong reasons. I wish he wasn’t so damn good at fantasy so I could just be done with him. Instead I have to trade him back in. This game sh*ts me.
THE OTHER BITS AND PIECES
2273, rank 4486. It’s just meh. How that score moved me up the rankings is beyond me, it’s Round 17 and we can barely crack 2300! Is it the taggers? Are we sideways trading too much?! Hopefully next week is better.
As far as trades go I luckily dumped Baz to avoid copping Keeler’s 13 points, shoutout to the rolling lockout. Imagine Geelong’s childish games with a full lockout, have mercy.
Unfortunately by boy Caldwell has to go, thanks for the generation bye run. He is likely to be in my side in 2026, no hard feelings here! I also get to trade Caleb Daniel which will be satisfying, that is unless Xerri and the Kangas admit he is concussed. Which he is. Oh boy…
Caldwell -> Butters
Daniel -> Baz
Good luck next week legends, let’s make it a high scoring one! As always be sure to catch the podcast for my full sook. It was extra pathetic and whingy this week.
Are you ever sitting there over the weekend wanting to vent about your capitulating AFL Fantasy team, only to have no one to talk to who actually cares? Well, we do. We’ve started a Wash-Up discord channel where we’ll talk trades and tactics, but mostly vent about our awful players over the weekend. It’s all just for a laugh and some fun, which is what the game is about!
Join us for a live trade chat Wednesdays 8pm AEST and a Sunday morning (possibly hungover) debrief. Oh and be sure to catch the podcast! I’ll see you same time next week legends.

Great write up Matt, I did the same as you and traded Baz which saved me 460k. Is he a must get back in this week with long, Moore and sheldrick in my team ??
Thanks mate, yep at the moment he is back in for me.
Love your work Matt. My team is in shambles
Would you just go and get gulden or hunt merret or butters for the value and matchup this week
Cheers
Me and you both, Butters is my favourite target this week.
Talk of TDK going to Saints, sharing ruck duties with RoMo
Xerri’s fine… went down like a sack of potatoes after the tiniest bit of head contact. He’s just a sook
