The bye rounds are here, and all I can say is thank the lord for best 18s… That is if you had more than 18. It’s time for your weekly fantasy therapy session, it’s time for the weekend wash-up!
LEGENDS
Bazlenka (147) – A little disappointed he didn’t convert and score 200, but it was awesome watching my skipper bring us home live. He has HUGE pig tendencies, is always looking for that hit up lead or handball receive and if you had to play on him, you’re probably going home in a wheelchair. L5 132. Unreal. He is a walk up captain.
NWM (117) – After almost getting hospitalised by big AJ and facing the concussion tests, NWM found himself on 21 at HT and was staring down the barrel of a disaster score. What we saw second half was a thing of beauty as he went 38 in the third and 58 in the last with 15 disposals in Q4. That might be the best save in fantasy history. Next time AJ, just hit him a liiiittle harder mate.
Ned Long (101) – The people’s champ, Nick Daicos’ bodyguard, Ned ‘Skinny’ Long with a 101. Started really slow with a 24 point first half only to have a 40 point premiership qtr and 37 in the final term. These kind of guys are why we play the game, I look forward to the media catching up next year.
McCluggage (152) – 41 disposals and 11 marks for an absolute game changer. I always seem to remember McHuggage’s bad scores, but this makes it 2 scores under 90 for the season, a L 5 112 and a season average of 104. Disrespected.
Caldwell (128) – 30 disposals and 8 tackles including a 70 point 18 disposal Q3. We speak of quarter pounders. Doing some research on Thursday night I stumbled across an unbelievable stat. Since 2024 Jye Caldwell has played 13 games with 60%+ CBAs. He has tonned 11 times, 7 120+ scores and an average of 118. 118!!!! When he plays as a pure midfielder, he’s not only a top 8 mid. He’s a top 3 mid. Stop the disrespect.
Martin (116) – This little piggy went to market…. Nic Martin as an on ball midfielder might change the game. 68% CBAs!! I thought he was going b2b 140’s at HT, he is an absolute must have. Legend.
Sidebottom (129) – How does sidecrack keep doing it? Timeless.
Daicos (128) – Better. Much better. He smelt 3 brownlow votes and went to town in the last quarter, at least his 120+ scores make up for the weeks he gets breathed on.
Ginnivan (115) – L6 91…? 31 and 3 for Gini, a proper cheeksy game this. He’s cheap and I’ll leave it at that.
Clark (120) – Jordan Clark scored well and Freo won. Flag it for after their bye, he’s an option.
Rowell (117) – Well watered grass, therefore it’s no surprise to see Rowell have a game.
Jackson (116) – What a score. Even though he has burnt us before, Jackson was the play. From what I’ve heard Blanket was basically playing midfield, and that adds up with his 22 CBAs. Freo are chasing his signature, and it looks like they may be handing him the keys…
Anderson (116) – That makes it 3 straight 115’s and he’s still cheap, it was a genuine no brainer a couple of weeks ago. Now we wait until his bye.
Brayshaw (113) – A great bounce back and Andy continues to pump out 110’s for fun. Great player.
Serong (111) – Almost a walkup after his bye heading into matchups against Essendon and North. Just too cheap.
Bolton (102) – He paid back those brave enough to take the gamble with another elite performance. Does he stay on his bye now…? A big call ahead.
Whitfield (119) – Back to HB and Whit was back to his best, I think his ceiling is just lowered playing next to Ash.
Ash (112) – Ash just continues to get it done and notably he had 10 kick ins to Whitfield’s 5. At the start of the season this would’ve been a Whit 130 and an Ash 100, the tide is turning…
Grundy (124) – I can’t believe this, the ruck pig might be back. He has averaged 130 against Gawn and ROB, two of the big 3 red ruck matchups. L3 123. If you can’t reach X/Gawn, he might be a play…
Sinclair (112) – Just a perfect upgrade target 3 weeks ago. Always buy low, never go chasing. I went chasing.
Miers (137) – That’s settled it then, Messi was the pick. L3 112, BE 46. And I got James Peatling. Epic.
Holmes (108) – It was a disappointing last quarter as Homma owed us the 130 it looked like he was heading for. Geelong’s matchups for mids are ridiculously easy to close to season, and I’d make Holmes a priority after his bye. You could even go early. L5 101, Gun!
LOSERS
Newcombe (63) I am the real loser here, for spending almost $1 million dollars for a mid season draft pick. As I always say, it was FOR A REASON. The Duke is averaging 88 for me in 6 games since getting him and is plummeting back to his starting price, right where the bloke belongs. An 18 point second half?!?! It’s honestly embarrassing at this point, and Newc has the Bulldogs this week. He might score 40. Give him Will Day or Jai retires.
Chad Warner (74) – I hope there wasn’t any washup readers falling for Cheeksy’s antics… Having said that, nobody could predict him not getting 20 touches. It will be staples only for dinner this week.
Petracca (75) – If you bought into Trac at under $900k you’re happy to wear the good with the bad. If you paid just shy of $1 million for him to serve this up, it’s a disgrace. 2020 is a distant memory.
Dunkley (82) – This is bad. Bad bad. That makes it 3 games in a row without a ton, L3 89. With McCluggage stepping up and Lachie Neale always the go to guy, maybe Dunks won’t reach those previous heights. And that’s ok. If you didn’t pay north of a million dollars for gutless sh*t like this. Not even close to good enough and he owes his owners a monster.
Ashcroft (57) – Ignoring the stupid bloody vest rule, Levi was tracking OK. Hopefully this counts as his rest, because even though he should go I have a mountain of issues that take priority.
SICILY (20) – What….. I don’t care what price he gets to, can you ever bring yourself to trade in a bloke capable of scoring a 20? You could never sleep well. SICK dog.
Green (112) – Poor. I’m sorry after his previous two weeks, the Tigers had to be a 130+. Not good enough.
Trainor (31) – Cooked, but he has done a great job. Trainor can’t be made the whipping boy now.
Taranto (89) – What does Taranto have to score in the first half to end up on a good score. 90? Thank GOD he does at least play the first half. How you end up on 89 with a quarter pounder I will never know, even if you’re tagged. Timmy goes on his bye.
Berry (66) – It’s that of year when Sam Berry comes in to ruin our fantasy teams is it? 18 CBAs and a 15 goal win is just quite frankly a disaster. If you picked him up, I hope you feel dirty.
Rankine (63) – Gone from a 70% mid to 70% forward. There’s no other way of putting it other than a complete and utter disaster. Could absolutely go on his bye, until then… Hard watch.
Sh*t Warner (29) – Nothing to add here.
Bice (9) – 2 disposals in a half. How is that even possible for a bloke only in the team because he can apparently kick a footy. Back to the VFL my boy.
Cleary (8) – I closed the book on this last week, but my god. You come on fresh in the second half and don’t get a single kick, mark or tackle? Embarrassing.
Allan (8) – I believe in you Bo. Owners, hold strong. I think he’ll get a run at it soon.
Bowey (65) – Don’t cry because it’s over, be happy that it happened.
Oliver (59) – Bloody justice. Getting away with holding Clarry was wild in the first place.
Pickett (42) – There’s a little bit of vindication in this, mentally it was getting tough watching Kozzy pump out 120s every week. I just hope nobody got on board… Oh boy.
THIS GAME SH*TS ME
The f***ing vest. Put that thing in the bin and leave it there. We hate it. Coaches hate it. Fans hate it. Players hate it. Is there ANYBODY who actually wants it in the game? Andrew Dillon please get of your ass and do something good for the comp. I had 5 vests this week and I wasn’t alone there, I don’t think I need to add anything further here. Just embarrassing stuff. This game sh*ts me.
THE OTHER BITS AND PIECES
1855, rank 6.2k. I guess we’re moving in the right direction, but that isn’t hard at this rank. This will easily be my best bye round, as I don’t own the good players that play for the Bulldogs or the Power. Hopefully I can swing some sideways trades to float for another month before totally capitulating.
I still need 10 trades to fix this RABBLE, hopefully my players don’t take offence. Three weeks too late Bice will finally go, and I think I’m taking a punt on Sam Walsh. Because at this point, why not. I’m also chasing X because he might break the single game points record this week.
Bice -> McCarthy
Maric -> Walsh
Marshall -> Xerri
Next week is going to be an absolute pisser with just two teams on the bye, let’s hope it makes up for this week! Good luck legends, as always be sure to check out the podcast for a full breakdown.

Thanks Mate!! Great summary.
Just wondering – you’ve gone for Walsh (last 3 average of 83) rather than Cripps (last 3 of 104)? Any particular reason? I’m considering Cripps.
Cheers Brian! Just buying low. I think Walsh at his best has a higher fantasy ceiling, and he loves to beat up on bad teams. Taking a gamble, Cripps is priced at what he will average imo
Always the highlight of Monday
Who goes first L. Ashcroft or Bowey
