Why should I pick him?

Ryley Sanders is set to play through the midfield in 2025, he’ll see a decent amount of centre bounce usage in his second season in the AFL.

The no.6 pick in the 2023 AFL Draft was used at 28.1% of team centre bounces last season, during match simulation this week Sanders spent most of his day as an inside mid.

Senior coach Luke Beveridge will still have his main core group of inside mids including Marcus Bontempelli, Tom Liberatore, Adam Treloar and Ed Richards if required, expect Sanders to be part of the centre bounce rotation.

The scoring rate for Sanders was quite solid last season, his moderate game minutes will likely increase in 2025 which will provide an opportunity for an improved scoring output.

With a year of developing his craft in the AFL and at VFL level he should be better prepared for a role through the middle of the ground in 2025, a healthy scoring average won’t surprise in 2025.

The Colonel has arrived

Why shouldn’t I pick him?

If Sanders isn’t ahead of Matthew Kennedy and others for midfield opportunities prior to the start of the season then it’s possible he is yet to convince senior coach Luke Beveridge of his ability to play important minutes through the midfield.

Additionally, Beveridge doesn’t roll out the same game plan each week which could provide scoring volatility with role adjustments, time spent away from a premium scoring role could limit his scoring output.

Deck of DT Rating.

QUEEN

There is considerable upside available on what Sanders produced last season; his game minutes will likely increase which should provide an opportunity for a decent rise in his average.

It is worth considering Riley Sanders in classic with his expected midfield role and ability to score at a decent rate, in draft it is certainly worthwhile being well ahead of ADP.

Coming from the guy who was convinced Curtin would be a full time mid last year? No thanks. What a terrible article…

What a terrible comment…

No one can get them all right and nothing said here isn’t 100% correct – if Sanders is given more of a role he has shown he can score. Curtin was looking very strong in preseason then tweaked his knee limiting mobility.

This is the point of the deck – and he’s not saying you should 100% pick him –
just commentary that he could be a solid POD, with appropriate caution regarding Bevo etc., when everyones forward line looks exactly the same at the minute.

The guy provided absolutely no research… such a waste. And nothing here isn’t 100% correct???

“Ryley Sanders is set to play through the midfield in 2025, he’ll see a decent amount of centre bounce usage in his second season in the AFL.”

Based on nothing but one January match sim…

Scott, get some help!

(Choose a better pseudonym … ‘Adam’ doesn’t need to be destroyed by you – Roy and I do a good enough job of that ourselves).

That’s funny coming from someone who is using the name of an ex AFL player.

Given the right role Sanders is great value making him a really good POD to start.

Given Pete is a legend of the community and does enormous amounts of research, that was a pretty poor criticism ‘Adam’. Maybe just don’t post at all if that’s all you’ve got

big fan of the kid, but f***, anyone outside of Bont/Treloar (who’ve likely topped out in price/ave anyway) is a risk at the kennel..

Completely agree with Adam.. at least provide some research or analysis on why you say the things you are saying. Substantiate.
