Why should I pick him?
Naughty List?
Mr. Rozee is on the never again (naughty) list for some and that’s understandable.
He started the season on fire, averaging 112 in his first five games. But then things took a terrible turn as he scored 70 and 89 in round 7. In that game he was scoring at 1.31 points per minute… but then he gets subbed out of the game.
Now does everyone remember what happened next? His owners sure do.
Well, the next week was the Showdown and greedy Connor really wanted to play in this big game… so selfish Connor did. He scored 51 in just half a game before being subbed out.
These 50’s effected his overall average and without them he would have averaged triple figures like he did in 2023 when he had his best season to average 105.9.
Value? Early Bye?
Rozee averaged 97 in 2024. There is meat on the bone for this guy who is more than capable of averaging between 105-110.
So, if you are looking for a premium MID (over a million dollars) to start the season with… I will be ticking off a handful at this stage of the year are… players who don’t have an early bye and players who have some value to offer.
The list is short… Bontempelli, Walsh, Brayshaw and Rozee… they are the only ones.
If I’ve missed any please let me know in the comments below.
Early Draw?
You know the scale of hardness is right around the corner and will be updated weekly for our legends at patreon.com/dttalk. But for now, let’s have a quick look at what should be a nice start for Connor.
Rozee is a hometown hero. He averaged 107 at home last year, and 116 in his nine games there when he didn’t get injured and subbed out.
He plays six home games out of his first nine, and as you can see by the scale, he meets the a couple of the ‘harder’ teams there. One being the Hawks who he scored 105 on in the AFL Finals.
Why do you think averaged 112 in his first five games last year? Yep… a great easy draw with four of those at Adelaide Oval.
In these games, he is a great VC option and even a captain option on his day as he can have big scores like 133, 147 and 126 from 2024.
Why shouldn’t I pick him?
Rozee is a head ache. He only averaged 87 across the AFL Finals Series.
When he’s away from home… he stunk last year and averaged just 85. In these games, he’s a premium midfielder and you know he will not get the job done for you.
If you were like me last year and we’re an owner… although you enjoyed the ride early in the year (and he was rather unique) but only to have your heart ripped out and stomped on. It’s hard to go back to a guy who shattered you and left you when you needed him the most.
Deck of DT Rating.
KING
At the end of the day, we have a premium here who is priced at nearly 10 points under what he achieved in 2024. He is sliding down the team rankings as far as tags go as well. With Butters and Horne-Bag starting to get more and more attention each year.
If you are looking for someone who is ‘value’ and doesn’t have the early bye… then Rozee ticks the boxes for you and is therefore a legit starting option who has floated in and out of my team this pre-season.
Hi Cal
Port has the Rd 12 bye. Freo has the good bye with Saints
