Why should I pick him?

No Floor Dylan Moore, or something like that. Moore comes into 2024 as the 6th most expensive forward after another solid year. Since solidifying his place and role in the team he has averaged 93.3 and 88 in back to back years. It is hard to select a player with one of the hardest fantasy scoring roles known to the game, however Moore continues to get the job done.

With the news that Will Day may miss the opening rounds of the season and the inclusions of Jack Ginnivan, Jack Gunston and Nick Watson (Pick 7) to the squad, the appeal for Moore definitely rises. In the back half of 2022 we saw Moore’s CBAs spike to 60% from rounds 17-21, which coincided with an average of 108.8. With so much more fire power brought into the Hawks’ forward line it is easy to see a world in which Moore can be that 50%+ pinch hitter again.

Why shouldn’t I pick him?

This feels like a serious case of Deja Vu…

Last preseason felt like all the same narratives. Dylan Moore was in discussions as one of the big forwards, he was going to take his average to the next level after his finish to the 2022 season. Sam Mitchell has other plans. The coach decided 2023 was the season to blood the youth through the middle. The quartet of Newcombe, Nash, Worpel, Day, Ward and Mackenzie all took the place rotating through, leaving Moore out to his high half forward connection.

Yes, you can make the argument that he has done it in the role already for 2 seasons so why can’t he just do it again when the forwards are so bare? Well, he has help now. In the previous 2 seasons Sam Mitchell hasn’t had anyone else capable of doing the Moore role. This season there are an abundance of talented forwards small and tall that can rotate high and deep in the hawks forward line. SHould this scare you? Probably not given that at times Moore acts like an extra Mid when he leaves the forward line and pushes up to stoppages, however I wouldn’t bank on him being that 90ish guy week in week out.

Deck of DT Rating.

QUEEN

Given he has the FWD status it was tough not to award him a KING, however with value presenting itself and the inclusions to the Hawks forward line it’s hard to see him pushing it with the big FWDs this season. Don’t let that deter you in draft though, No Floor Dylan Moore will be a classy F1 that’s likely to start a FWD run.

Genuine option I’m considering, averaged 104 in wins and 81 in losses. If Hawthorn can improve I think Moore’s average will increase with it.
