Fantasy notes and injury updates – Rd. 5

Late changes, subs, injuries and more tracked in the weekly notes.

Warnie looks at a few of the key notes such as injuries and substitutes along with any key Fantasy stats of relevance from each game.

Thursday

Adelaide v Carlton

Marc Pittonet copped a head knock and saw plenty of blood. He was subbed out with an eye injury.

Adam Saad spent time on the pine with hamstring tightness.

Crows Ned McHenry (4th) Jake Soligo (tactical)
Blues Josh Honey (2nd) Marc Pittonet (eye)

Friday

Fremantle v Gold Coast

Sam Switkowski hurt his calf.

Dockers Will Brodie (2nd) Sam Switkowski (calf)
Suns Alex Sexton (4th) Bailey Humphrey (tactical)

Richmond v Sydney

Joel Amartey hurt his hamstring which saw Will Gould (35) get his first run at AFL level after more pre-season bench appearances than any player ever!

Jack Riewoldt saw a lot of blood flow from his head early in the game. He had some staples put in.

Tigers Maurice Rioli (3rd) Trent Cotchin (tactical)
Swans Will Gould (2nd) Joel Amartey (hamstring)

Saturday

Brisbane v North Melbourne

Harry Sheezel (96) spent some time on the bench getting his thumb treated but was also sore from a corkie. Clarkson said he won’t be resting. It will be a watch this week, though. Sheezel’s ton run stopped, but he was still North’s top scorer.

Jy Simpkin (48) was subbed out with a hand injury after a dominant start. He will have surgery and miss at least one. The Roos are hoping it is only 1-2 weeks.

Lions Jarrod Berry (4th) Jarryd Lyons (tactical)
Kangaroos Hugh Greenwood (2nd) Jy Simpkin (hand)

Essendon v Melbourne

Calvin’s No.1 pick Clayton Oliver (108) copped attention from Will Setterfield (100). This was eased off later in the game with a 53 point quarter for Oliver thanks to 20 disposals.

Charlie Spargo was left groggy after a bump in the second. Harrison Jones was subbed with an ankle knock.

Bombers Nick Hind (3rd) Harrison Jones (ankle)
Demons James Jordan (HT) Charlie Spargo (concussion)

Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs

Josh Bruce was subbed out after a bump with sore ribs.

How about the last quarters from some of the Dogs. Quarter splits were interesting to read. Marcus Bontempelli: 38, 23, 30, 9; Jack Macrae: 27, 36, 12, 11.

Jason Horne-Francis had 41 (of his 67) in the last quarter.

Power Jackson Mead (3rd) Scott Lycett (tactical)
Bulldogs Toby McLean (4th) Josh Bruce (ribs)

Sunday

Geelong v West Coast

Reuben Ginbey copped a poke in the eye, studs in the face, a corkie… and was pretty banged up. The Eagles subbed him in the third and said he was ok. Hopefully that’s all the rest he needs.

Tyson Stengle looked to have broken his wrist.

Cats Brandon Parfitt (HT) Tyson Stengle (wrist)
Eagles Connor West (3rd) Reuben Ginbey (tactical)

GWS Giants v Hawthorn

Chad Wingard bit his tongue. Went to hospital and needed it stitched together.

Tom Green will be looked at by the MRO for a dangerous tackle. He also copped some attention from Conor Nash in the second half (note: Finn Maginness was dropped for this game).

Giants Harry Rowston (3QT) Adam Kennedy (tactical)
Hawks Cam Mackenzie (HT) Chad Wingard (tongue)

Collingwood v St Kilda

Jordan De Goey (illness) was a late out. He was replaced by Will Hoskin-Elliott.

Dan McStay tore his finger tendon in the first quarter.

Taylor Adams, fresh off his FWD status, may have a question asked by the MRO.

Anthony Caminiti could be cited for a strike behind play.

Magpies Tom Wilson (QT) Dan McStay (finger)
Saints Jack Bytel (3QT) Zaine Cordy (tactical)

Doesn’t need to be game by game, could be a round summary of what to watch out for like relevant players getting injured or cited, maybe look at highest numbers for the round and possible reasons as well as possible reasons for a player scoring low.
Don’t get me wrong I love the info, didn’t even know Stengle had broken his wrist until reading this but it could be condensed.
