Draftstars Plays of the Weekend – Wk 13

It’s a tricky round but well done – you’ve come to the right place!

A wise old man (Calvin) once said, a tricky round is a good round and separates the good players from the bad. With only a few games spread out across multiple days, picking a Draftstars’ team is harder than ever. But… you’ve come to the right spot to get a leg up on everyone else.

SATURDAY KITTY = $75k

Good luck and please, gamble responsibly.

Bailey Banfield (FWD, $6,000)

Saturday v Hawthorn

Coming off a few goals and a score of 68 last week, Banfield can be picked as a forward and at a rookie price. This basically gives you a free hit at a guy capable of snagging a few and scoring at the same time. He had 107 earlier in the year and against the Hawks, he could do it again.

Jade Gresham (M/F, $12,850)

Saturday v Brisbane

Form = tick. This guy has been on fire all year and still goes under the radar. He has averaged 101 in his last three and meets the Lions who allowed Brayshaw (131) and Aish (123) to score with ease last weekend.

Jai Newcombe (MID, $13,220)

Saturday v Fremantle

Is this the Rising Star? He just might be and has been turning heads in recent weeks with 3×100+ scores in his last five games. Coming off 108, he is confident and on fire!

Sean Darcy (RUC, $12,260)

Saturday v Hawthorn

Ok… this could be huge and one of the safest/easiest picks for the weekend. Darcy is up against the Hawks who don’t really have a ruckman at the moment. They are currently using Reeves with Kosi pinch hitting from time to time. Some DS coaches might turn their back on this big man who only had 45 last week, but that’s their problem and a decision they will regret.

Lachie Whitfield (D/M, $13,080)

Sunday v Kangaroos

Shhhhh…. Whitfield hasn’t played since round 9 and makes his way back into the team after being injured. His match-up couldn’t be better. The thing is… he is yet to play under the new GWS coach, who appears to be playing his players back in their correct position. This hopefully means NO MORE forward time for Whitfield who should be back racking up points like the old days.

Josh Kelly (MID, $15,690)

Sunday v Kangaroos

Here are the reason why we LOVE Josh Kelly this week….

No. 1 man based on form averaging 126 in his last three games
Plays at Marvel where he has 9×100+ scores in his last 9 games
Last year he had 152 on the Kangaroos
North are #3 easiest to score on in the last five weeks
Touk (135), Sinclair (133), Hill (127) all scored well against the Roos recently
Prior to his 152 against them he had 59 (covid year), 148 and 119
Finally… it’s Josh Kelly
