Draftstars Plays of Weekend – Rd. 7

Welcome back to another edition of our best Draftstars’ plays for the weekend. With another huge kitty on offer for both the Saturday and Sunday contests, we have put our Fantasy brains together to hopefully, steer you in the right directly of some cold hard cash.

Rhys Mathieson (MID, $7,050)

Saturday v Port Adelaide @ home

Lachie Neale OUT… Mathieson IN.

Mathieson was a former NEAFL Pig back in the day and has been solid enough at the AFL level, when he is given a chance. This is his chance.

He played one game last year (76pts) and has been starved of opportunity over his 6 year career and only 48 games. He should take his with both hands and tackle his way to a solid score.

Dan Houston (MID/DEF, $13,390)

Saturday v Brisbane – away

Before getting injured, Houston was on fire scoring 110, 93 and 102. He returned last week with 127 and looked awesome.

With Boak out, he will benefit even more against the Lions who gave Curnow (131), Docherty (126), Walsh (123) and McKay (118) a truck-load of points last week. LOCK!

Jackson Hately (MID, $11,590)

Saturday v GWS @ home

Jacko is one of our favourites and finally got his first game for his new club last week. He attended plenty of centre bounces, but his time on ground was a slight concern.

Hately posted 75 against the Hawks and at his price, we’d take that all day long. But this game is against his old team in a huge Rival Match, and this one is at home (Adelaide Oval). BOOM!

Martin Fredrick (DEF, $7,070)

Saturday v Brisbane – away

Cheap! His 77 on debut last week will make him a popular target this week and rightfully so. We are not expecting 77 again, but anything over 65 here will be a bonus.

Andrew Gaff (MID, $15,120)

Sunday v Fremantle @ home

Old mate Gaff is a high-risk… high reward player in the Draftstars format. We all know he has a ceiling and has shown that on countless times in his career, especially when he plays at Optus Stadium.

Add to this, he plays in the Derby against the Dockers, a team he has hit 100+ against in his last seven games. We are hoping for a nice 130+ score.

Jy Farrar (MID, $9,7,20)

Saturday v Collingwood – away

We all know that Collingwood give up the most points to defenders and on Saturday we are gifted a gem, a gem who has averaged 80 this year and is every chance to take 10 marks.

This year, on average, Collingwood have given up 78pts per game to defenders and an average of 101 to the top-3 defenders.

Last week in defence against the Pies, Heppell scored 143 (13 marks) out of defence, along with Lavarde (106pts, 13 marks) who also had a day out.

Farrar has averaged 7.5 marks a game after his first two outings and is too cheap to ignore against the struggling Pies.
