Team Sheets – Rd. 13

All the news, rumours, and team sheets from round 13!

It’s Thursday!!

One down, two to go!  The byes got off to a very friendly start with absolutely massive scores across the board.  That’s no fun at all though so lets all keep our fingers crossed for some devastatingly bad team news to stir up some trouble!  Tom Rockliff’s availability could make or break a lot of coaches weekends, and will we see some downgrade options named in Dylan Clarke and Griffin Logue?  Exciting times ahead, let’s get to it!

Round 13 kicks off 19:50 AEST TONIGHT so have all your players from Adelaide and Richmond locked in by then.  Partial lockout will turn to full lockout 19:50 AEST Friday night as per usual.  The Traders will be reacting LIVE today from 18:15 AEST on the Official AFL Fantasy Facebook page to the team announcements, so think of this article as your text-based companion guide.

As always, this post will be updated as more information comes in, so if you’ve seen some news that I’ve missed feel free to tweet it at me and I’ll follow it up.

Adelaide vs Richmond

Reilly O’Brien has kept his spot in the team ahead of Sam Jacobs, in fact Adelaide go in completely unchanged with Bryce Gibbs as first emergency.

On the other hand Richmond have made four changes. Trent Cotchin and Shane Edwards are out with hamstring issues, Ivan Soldo is sick, and Jacob Townsend has been dropped.  Mabior Chol (170k FWD), Nathan Broad, Brandon Ellis, and Connor Menadue are their replacements.  Not only is Dustin Martin fit to play, but he’s been made captain too.  Patrick Naish (201k DEF) holds his spot as last man on the bench.

Essendon vs Hawthorn

Orazio Fantasia, Jake Stringer, and Dylan Shiel are all back from injury with Aaron Francis, Mark Baguley, and Ben McNiece all omitted.  Dylan Clarke (291k MID) plays!

Chad Wingard won’t be available until round 15, he’s on the sidelines with the omitted Mitchell Lewis and Marc Pittonet. Ben McEvoy is back, one week ahead of schedule!  Dylan Moore and Kaiden Brand are also recalled.

Gold Coast vs St. Kilda

Jordan Murdoch and Touk Miller are injured, Chris Burgess and Josh Corbett are omitted.  Callum Ah Chee will play his first game of the season, he’s joined by Sam Day, Corey Ellis, and George Horlin-Smith.

Lots of changes for the Saints!  Daniel McKenzie, Brandon White, Blake Acres, David Armitage, Hunter Clark, Jonathon Marsh, and Nick Hind (170k MID) are alllllll in.  Nick Coffield, Darragh Joyce, Robbie Young, and Ben Long have been omitted, while Jack Steele, Jarryn Geary and Ed Phillips are injured.

Fremantle vs Port Adelaide

Fremantle lose Rory Lobb and Alex Pearce to long-term injuries, and Adam Cerra is sick.  Sean Darcy returns with Stephen Hill and Griffin Logue (216k DEF).

Tom Rockliff does not return from that hamstring injury.  Matthew Broadbent is out, he’s taking an indefinite leave of absence to deal with mental health issues.  Hamish Hartlett finally returns.

Carlton vs Western Bulldogs

Marc Murphy is back in for the Blues, Jack Silvagni has been dropped.

Billy Gowers is out with an ankle injury and Lachie Young has been omitted.  They’re replaced by Tory Dickson and Hayden CrozierRyan Gardner not only holds but has been named at CHF!

North Melbourne vs GWS

Shaun Higgins will miss six weeks with an AC joint injury.  The potential inclusions are Paul Ahern, Kyron Hayden (170k MID/FWD), Taylor Garner, Tom Campbell and Curtis Taylor (185k MID/FWD).

Nick Haynes and Isaac Cumming are out injured.  Toby Greene is back, he’s joined by debutant Jake Stein (170k DEF). Matt Buntine, Zac Langdon, Jackson Hately, Dawson Simpson have also been added to the extended squad.

They fly him to China coz he might play, has an extra week off and now he might NOT play.
      And so the carnage begins

Gee I’m not liking the look of bringing Clarke or Bewley in now with the return of players to Essendon & Freo. Even if they’re named this week, they could be dropped next week.

    1. Answerth, Petch & Corbett > Gardner, Clarke & Goldy/ROB/McEvoy( 1 week ruck punt via DPP).
Next week I’d move the extra ruck out for Danger

    2. Answerth, Petch & Neale > Garnder, Clarke & Fyfe

    3. Answerth, Petch & Hinge > Gardner, Clarke & Sicily

I don’t want to bring in a premo FWD as I’m saving my last spot for Danger.

Need to downgrade Broadbent for some cash next week as not enough to upgrade him this week.
So which cheap DEF is the one to bring in, seems to be a few to choose from this week.
Gardener, Logue, Stein, anyone else? (already have Naish)

Slim pickings. Logue into the team because he’s recovered from injury would suggest more JS than Stein and Gardner. Beyond that you’re throwing darts.

The people that code the website and app have got to be the most useless programmers in existence. So many simple things that are wrong that would take 2 seconds to fix.

The website took a huge backwards step this year. Hate having to go to a separate screen for trades. And you have to go to a separate “full details” screen to see if a player’s price has risen/dropped. And why can’t they display last score and average score at the same time, why is the default set to predicted score? And You have to flip the card just to switch a player around on the field, what happened to drag and drop? Where do I see who I traded last week? Where do I see what my overall rank was last week? It’s a friggin mess.

The app is dreadful – matchups page always has inaccurate scores I’ve given up trying to use it at all.
And yes the website is a mess, for all the reasons you cited above. And another thing, where are the blue/aqua dots for Bye players that the legend says are supposed to be there?
It’s all a bloody shambles. Pathetic really.

For your overall rank from previous rounds click on the appropriate week number at the top of the screen. It will display your team at the start of that round and your ranking at the end of the round.

it was the first major revamp they’ve done since the fan hub took over, and they totally should’ve left it alone, but hopefully in the off-season they’ll work out all the kinks. that’s kinda how it played out last time. until then, i personally find the list view is far more user friendly than the field view, saves you flipping all the stoopid cards!

No. Bye next week, Soldo to replace him week after that, and Nankervis to return eventually to put him even further down the ranks.

Roll the dice on ROB for a week cover (Petch to ROB via Bines), or bring in Caleb Daniel

    • Avatar

      June 13, 2019 at 5:37 pm

Daniel is close to being a keeper, so he improves your team for the rest of the season. If you bring in ROB you have to waste a trade getting him out of your team or you have a stack of cash on your bench (or be missing Grundy/Gawn if you trade them out). With the way injuries roll, you could easily be forced into keeping ROB because you have to fix up bigger issues. Get Daniel.

      June 13, 2019 at 7:07 pm

Totally agree with Pendles4Brownlow. Weigh 1-2 weeks of byes vs the rest of the season and get Daniel in.

Pre-teams being named carnage, im thinking these moves:

    Out: Rocky/Hore/Witho
    In: Fyfe/Sicdawg/Hind + 151k bank.

Had hoped for a Witho breakout year, but his scoring is going backward. Hore done an elite cash cow job. Rocky not coming straight back in concerns me. Alot.

Get a top 10 mid and def, and potentially best scoring/JS 170k rook. Leaves my final team with 1 rook mid and 2 rook def (with ROB and other fattened cows to move next week). Hoping to finish byes with 1 rook left on field….

    • Avatar

      June 13, 2019 at 5:40 pm

With an eye on next week, have made a slight change.

      Out:: Rocky/Hore/Witho
In: Fyfe/Sic/rook fwd (at this stage Gardner) + 140k + DPP Newnes to mids.

Will mean that next week, cash in ROB for ~400k, and turn stack/Newnes into premos (poss. Gaff + Hurn) which would leave my bye rd team with a D6 rook (Naish/Answerth/Garner) as my last on field rook.

Niw to throw all that out the window and see what happens!!

      June 13, 2019 at 5:45 pm

Hind doesn’t have good JS. He will probably be named due to Steele’s injury, but after that you will be counting on other Saints being injured.

    • Avatar

      June 13, 2019 at 6:59 pm

Yeah that is a good trade. I went Corbett-> Hind, Witho-> Sic, Hore-> Daniel. Will then go something like Setter-> Gardner, Gibbo-> Clarke and Hayes-> Fyfe/Treloar/Duncan to finish mids off (then have the option of swinging Dusty FWD and having the Worpedo become Kelly

  16. Avatar

    June 13, 2019 at 6:31 pm

Could you consider S Hill or H Hartlett? Both priced around 530k in defence. Both had their bye and worse case scenario can be a stepping stone going forward?

    • Avatar

      June 13, 2019 at 7:00 pm

Blakely only 60k more and has also had his bye. Perryman less but still has his coming. Hill and Hartlett not terrible options but just don’t see the upside at 530k.

        The Cricket

        June 13, 2019 at 8:56 pm

Not a good idea to be thinking about “stepping stones” at this stage. With all the injury carnage that builds up as the season wears on you can’t rely on having the luxury of spare trades to upgrade them. So you’ll just end up with what you started with – a bloody mid-priced player! Improve your team by bringing in premos or cash cow rookies I reckon

  17. Avatar

    June 13, 2019 at 6:51 pm

Went in with 18 pre trades
    Rocky out
Lachlan young, Robbie Young and Corbett all dropped

So now I won’t even be able to get to 18 using 3 trades…

Had a few good scores this year and was at least cheap to start, but too bloody frustrating. He definitely gave us some good times though. Cheers Rocky!
