Bali Hai – A Dream Team view with a difference

Talk about the Blues. The back to work Blues that is! I’m due back at work tomorrow after a fortnight off, and thought I would fill you all in on an experience I had whilst I was in Bali, DT related of course!

Talk about the Blues. The back to work Blues that is! I’m due back at work tomorrow after a fortnight off, and thought I would fill you all in on an experience I had whilst I was in Bali, DT related of course!

I spent the past week and a half sunning it up at the Bali Padma Resort Legian Pool Bar drinking copious amounts of Bintang (The local Beer) and enjoying the sights in and around the pool (There was plenty of eye candy fellas!).

In between the underwater swimming and the underwater handstand competitions I was having with my mates, there was plenty of AFL action on the big screen. That’s right, the Padma Pool Bar actually shows live AFL games on the big screen that they have there! This place defiantly was paradise!

Being the massive Richmond Nut that I am, Thursday arvos game was one I held with a lot of anticipation. Knowing I was going to struggle to use the partial lock out loop hole due to lack of (or how painfully slow the resorts was) internet access, I just stuck the big C on Swan and was done with it.

Imagine my agony as I was sitting in a pool with about 35 other Aussies (surprisingly most barracking for the Tigers!) when Bryce Gibbs started collecting possessions at will! The obvious lock for the Loop hole! FFFAAARRRKKKK!!!!

The Tigers had just stunk up 2 quarters of football and somehow were managing to keep in the game. I knew a blow out was inevitable but then right in the middle of another mouthful of Bali’s finest beer, the telecast showed the top 10 for dream team thus far. Having Gibbs right up there really kicked me Jarrad Waite Style, knowing that the thousands and the millions of DT Talk followers would have most likely had this blue boy locked for captain selection! My love for Bintang was starting to wane; it just didn’t taste the same. Then the worst possible news occurred at half time…

Foley off, Connors on. It became very apparent to a few in the pool that I was very unhappy with this call made by Dimma, but then it turned out to be a blessing. From my swearing comments about how Dimma had just F$%ked my dreamteam (for those that know me, I tend to get a little bit on the loud side, especially after a couple),  It turned out that there were at least 8 other people in the pool who are hooked on Dreamteam! People started swimming over and chatting about their team, some even mentioned that they had used DT Talk (I didn’t admit to them that I write on here occasionally, but im sure if any of you are reading it now, you will remember who I am from that day!).

Aside from the poor performance of Yarran, Foley’s crap (figuratively speaking, I didn’t even know he had the old “Bali Belly” before the game) and the fact that I didn’t have the loop hole on the go with Gibbs, it turned into a ripper arvo just talking dreamteam with a few lads.

The reason I mention this is because I wanted to talk about the world we live in… DT World.

Its amazing the camaraderie there is with your fellow Dream Teamer. You all know what im talking about. You may be at a party or a wedding, and your sitting at your table or out standing outside with someone you don’t know, when you pull out your phone and look at your DT app, and mention that Swanny is up to 100 and its half time or something, then all of a sudden this bloke who you have never seen before is striking up a conversation talking all things DT because he knows if your pulling your phone out to check, that you must be interested in it. Your then standing there for the next 30 minutes just chewing the DT fat whilst your wife or girlfriend starts to roll her eyes! You all have been there im sure!

My point I guess is, is that if you live in a DT world (you would not be on this site reading this if you do not live in it) you live in a special place where religion, sex or colour has no meaning. You’re a kindred spirit in places. We all know the Presti jokes of naming him captain is funny to those who understand DT, but anyone who doesn’t, just does not get us! As it turns out, this DT phenomenon is all over the world (well Bali as far as I can tell thus far!).

This is a very special community that breeds not only friendly banter (and some not so friendly!) but strikes a bond between complete strangers. I guess this is one of the reasons I love DT so much.

I have just returned from Bali Today, so have not had a chance to do any analysis thus far on what happened completely with my team (Score 2032, not great, but not bad considering my choice of Yarran and Foley) but rest assured I will not be doing any of the following………. TRADING!

Just a quick special mention to my smokey of the year, Harry Taylor, for rewarding my faith that you were gonna bust out a big number…Keep em coming big fella!

So fill us in people, how have you found your living in DT world experience, has it improved your life for the better? Do you know someone you may not have because of it?  I want to know!

Cheers
