Drew Petrie: Deck of Dream Team 2011

If he has overcome injuries, Petrie will no doubt be one of the most selected DTers this year.

Name: Drew Petrie
Club: North Melbourne
Position: Forward/Ruck
Bye Rounds: 3 & 21
2010 Average: 50.5
2010 Games Played: 2
Predicted Average: 85

Why should I pick him? If he has overcome injuries, Petrie will no doubt be one of the most selected DTers this year. It is amazing to think that the only thing that will keeping him from squads is a durability concern when between 2003 and 2009 he never played less than 21 games in a season. Obviously 2 last year rings alarm bells, but it also rings bargain wells. With an average of only 50, mainly due to a round 15 match where he could barely walk and scored only 29, and heavy discount, a proven DTer such as this is a must have. In the two years leading up to his injury, Petrie averaged 85 to show he has what it takes.

Why shouldn’t I pick him? The only reason he wont be in every squad is the concern of his foot injury costing him matches. It will be important to watch his pre season closely.

Deck of DT Rating. QUEEN – The selection of Drew is fraught with danger, however the upside is far to big to miss out on. If he is fit, he will have an average increase of 30 points per game, on top of an already discounted price. Sold.

The most successful DTer out of the boys prides himself on his multiple top 200 finishes... nearly as much as he prides himself on his guns! The coach of destROY wants you to follow him on Twitter: @RoyDT.
