The Plus Four: Round 12

Twelve rounds down… ten to go. That’s not a bad thing for some of us… especially those with bugger all trades left and those who are having a shit year.

I QUIT… WELL, I WON’T… BUT I WANT TO!

I hate Dream Team. Yes, really I do. Stupid game. You put in a whole heap of study before round one, pick a heap of guys who you think will be good for you this year, a bit of value, durable, et-friggen-cetra… and then you get to the end of Round 12 and have 2 donuts with only 6 trades left. FMDT. Argh. Not cool. You’d think a 2100 score would be ok this week… oh boy, was I wrong!

So anyway, I lost to Roy. His boys should hang their heads in shame… only beating the Dawgs by 22 points. Damn!

THE CARNAGE CONTINUES

We had a few late withdrawals this round… none bigger than Jonathan Brown and Alan Didak. The news on the Brown-dawg isn’t great. He is apparently out for a month resting his big body. Fingers crossed for those with him that he will finish off the year with a bang and help you win your leauge finals. That’s if you hold him. Taking out the split round, he will miss 3 games. We will have to monitor the injury news this week… and possibly trade the big unit. No idea on Didak. It’s a hip injury. When I heard that I just thought OP. I hope not! At the tribunal, Leigh Montagna needs to be smart and plead guilty to his trip. That means he will be free to play in Rd 13. There was nothing else to worry about from the MRP… thank god!

SPLIT ROUND… BRING ON THE MID-SEASON DT BREAK

Get through this week and life will be good. We will have a whole week off Dream Team and be able to live a normal life. Well, kind of. We will experience another partial lockout. Which means that we will be able to edit our team in the week between games. This gives us another crack at the Captain Loophole. Make sure you come back on Wednesday night for info on it in Calvin’s Captains. I’m not sure who I might use this week though. Hmm…

DT2011 STUDY HAS STARTED

We tuned in on Saturday to watch Karmichael Hunt debut for the Gold Coast and were left a bit disappointed. He wouldn’t have cracked too many DT points even though he kicked two goals in the first quarter. He’s got a fair bit of work to do to even consider him in our teams for next year.

WE SHOULD GET BEHIND EXTRA TIME

After the draw yesterday, the debate started raging about whether we should have extra time in the AFL. As a traditionalist, I think not… but as a Dream Team coach, I think hell yeah! It would be fantastic! An extra 2 x 5mins for Swanny to rack ’em up as my captain! That would be brilliant!

That’s it for me… still way too tired after getting up for the the dismal effort by the Aussies in the World Cup yesterday morning. Hopefully they bounce back well on Saturday night… and my WCDT goes well. Seeya later AFLDT! I have a new passion!
