AFL Teams 2016: Round 10

5:15pm Friday 27/05/2016

Sunday extended benches are in. Confirmation that Thomas Cole (Def/Mid $163,000 AF $121,300 DT) will debut for Eagles. Remember Josh Dunkley (Mid. $201,000 AF $ 121,300 DT), he made the cut, is on the bubble for DT and could be a sneaky downgrade option.

6:15pm Thursday 26/05/2016

Round 10 teams are out!
Collective sigh of relief for many teams with Gary Ablett, Aaron Hall, Matthew Boyd, Daniel Wells, Michael Barlow and Matthew Suckling all ins this week! Still no sign of Rocky or Laird.
A few rookie priced outs with Connor Menadue, Jayden Short, Tim Mohr, Daniel Menzel, Daniel Currie, Darcy MacPherson, Kaiden Brand, Billy Evans, Clayton Oliver, Aaron Mullett.
MacPherson is particularly painful as mant just got him in and he has a nasty knee injury and was looking the goods. A few POD premos are out with Elliot Yeo, Andrew Gaff, David Mundy and Jack Billings.
There are a couple of new rookie choices to look at this week. Nothing at this stage of the year seems to have geat Job Security.

Important times to remember:

Shags’ Watchlist

Sam Docherty (Def $507,000 AF $ 540,800 RDT) has been outputting some impressive DT stats this year with a last 3 round average of 117.3. Especially in RDT looks to have gone into the defender premium status. A good option for those who are looking to complete their backlines. His form does seem to ebb and flow with the overall form of the blues.

Shags’ Watchlist

This one is for the Real Dreamteamers. Blessing from the DT gods, little to none downgrade options on the bubble, and all of a sudden we have a rookie blast from the past with Josh Dunkley (Mid. $201,000 AF $ 121,300 be -53 DT). His JS is a tad shakey and you also have Jacob Hopper as an expensive option, but he could be good as a cheaper rookie option.

Shags’ Watchlist

With the handy Def/mid status Thomas Cole (Def/Mid $163,000 AF $121,300 RDT) is a solid defender rookie from Bendigo. JS is a tad shakey, but with a few outs could hold position for a few weeks and as always if they playe well will have a chance to stay.

Shags’ Watchlist

It has been pointed out to me that Buddy Lance Franklin (Fwd $495,000 AF be 95 $520,700 be 112) has been doing something this year that he is not famous for. He has been very consistent. His lowest score is 86 and highest is 110. We all know that Buddy can go huge, its the fact he hasnt gone really low that makes him look a decent fwd option.

Shags’ Watchlist

Rhys Mathieson (Mid. $169,000 AF $ 121,300 DT) did ok with 59 on debut. With rookie options drying up, the best I can say about Rhys is he looked likely best 22 start of year but only missed out due to injury.

Shags’ Watchlist

Robbie Gray (Mid/Fwd or Mid DT $497,000 AF be 120 $489,000 DT be 106) came straight into the team for Port and smashed out a 111. More an option in AF due to his forward status. Hes basically a midfielder with high ceiling sitting in your forward line. What is not to like…oh yeah he can have an off game every now and again.

Shags’ Watchlist

How juicy as a fallen premium does Jack Steven (Mid. $527,000 be 98 $532,600 be 78)look! Coming off a 138 last week, but dropped in value due to a couple of lowish scores of 58 and 83. I’d say these are outliers, so get on board!

Shags’ Watchlist

If you haven’t already jumped on, get on board the Zach Merrett (Fwd/Mid. $562,000 be 103 $586,700 be 97) Train. He has more than proven that he is a top fwd option, scaring a few away after a low 66 a few weeks ago, he has been a main ball magnet at the bombers this year and that doesn’t look like changing.

Adelaide v GWS Giants at Adelaide Oval (7.40pm)

I/C Dylan Shiel, Tom Scully, Lachie Whitfield, Jack Steele
EMG Matthew Kennedy, Jeremy Finlayson, Sam J. Reid
Adam Tomlinson, Jack Steele
Tim Mohr (Hamstring), Matt Buntine (Concussion)

Shags’ Watchlist

If Stephen Coniglio (Mid. $570,000 be 85 $610,200 be 106) was at a major club, Im sure more than the crazy low 2.44% of teams would own him. He has a staggering 5 round average of 121.6. He is absolutely pigging it at the moment. Hes already pricey, but he could we be the new pig and auto captain choice the way he is playing.

  • Held Rocky so far, should I trade or keep holding?

    • same boat, thinking might trade now. Him and Laird to Kelly and Bont.

  • Looks like Jonas may have screwed up the Cash cow that is Trengrove.

    • No it was the fact that Port got walloped in the ruck division, nothing to do with Jonas.

      • Nah i think smitty is right. Trengove now needed in defence. Howard is hardly going to help wven out ruck dominance in ports favour

        • exactly. I don’t think Howard is capable of playing a KP role in Defence, where Trengrove is. Trengrove’s time in the ruck will be dramatically decreased this week.

        • Trengove named in ruck, Howard on bench!

  • Rocky to Kelly/Gray or Macpherson to Mathieson?

  • Menadue cant drop in price. Thank you Dimma

  • Who should I prioritise to trade in out of Steven, Shaw, Montagna and Dustin Martin? Cheers!

    • If you don’t have dustin Martin before the byes forget it. His price will be back where it started soon! I’d say get him first. Steven close second but getting Steven for under $550,000 is still a bargain

  • We only have 6 matching players this week Shags could be very interesting weekend!

    Good Luck

    • EDIT:

Make that 8 didn’t see ya Bench lol

      Good Luck

    • Oooh ahhhhh.

      • Hey shags.Mammoth job as usual mate. Just a suggestion maybe we can throw the weather reports under team match ups for each game or a separate write up. Rain, wind or shine would sway choosing sometimes IMO.And would better prepare selections. “Warndogs weather perhaps??”Lol

  • Where in holy f..k is Rory Laird? !-2 weeks my arse! COnsidering a rage trade, though in RDT it it’s prob not wise…

  • Anyone know a thing about Harry Marsh I’m looking for a def downgrade and at $125k want to know what he’s like?

    • Will go straight back out of the team next week, better off getting Joyce, the Suns Def/Mid rookie that got upgraded or if you can stretch cash – Collins from Dockers.

    • He’s a meme machine

  • 3 things:

-Who to bench from: Mills, P. Wright, Mathieson, Blakely.

-Barlow a legit C option? Could see vintage Barlow as a message to Ross…

-De boer brought in, look out for the tag on Steven or Montagna

  • Thoughts on T.Cole?

If he plays as a back flanker/outside player then I could see him getting many +6s against the gold coast.

I like his scoring potential compared to say Collins.

    • Cole will score more, but likely only play a week.
Collins will score 50’s, but should play for the rest of the season due to injuries etc. at the Dockers.

    • Cole is a good Bendigo player, but he is sunday listed so not even sure if he will make the cut. I agree with Taezer, his JS is problematic. Been living on mergency list for a few weeks.

Definitely watchlist if he gets a game. Check Sunday extended bench.

  • J.Smith to Mathieson
    Mills to Collins? Cheers boys

    • Smith has at least another week of making cash and could even get DPP in R12… Mills is maxed out – if you’re ok missing the Mathieson boat, get Collins.

    • Mathieson looks the more solid rookie choice IMO.

  • I know he’s totally insignificant but has fantasia moved to HF position and if so ,it should increase his scores?

  • Tom Ruggles named on the field, thank goodness

  • Should i bother to ask how long yeo will be out for? Or just trade away?

  • Is J Redpath for the Bulldogs an ok option? I haven’t been following him but he scored ok in rounds 7 + 8 (suspended rd 9) and if he continues should make some coin. Do you think he is a safe bet??

  • Shaw, Biggs, dea, Wagner, Byrne, mills (Hartley, Fantasia)
Danger, monty, hunter, t Adams, Titchell, b Ellis, kerridge, wells (Blakely, smith)
    Gawn, Jacobs (cox, Currie)
Hall, Zorko, dusty, Franklin, tippa, Davis (Kent, sumner)

    Only 54k in bank

Thinking Fantasia and mills out and tippa down back and bring in Collins in def swap wells forward then maybe a premium mid ??
Fantasia and mills out with tippa down back a premium def and swap wells fwd and get Mathieson mids
Fantasia and mills out, tippa down back, Collins in def and bring nroo in

    Thoughts or other options

  • thoughts on trent west? job security, potential scores etc

  • Which one do I choose:

    1. Steven & Hopper
    2. Gray & Petracca
    3. Any Premo Mid & Mathieson & 75k in Salary

  • which do I choose:
    1. steven and west
    2. gray and mathieson

Would ideally like steven and mathieson but just cannot see a way to do it

  • Cash: $33k
DEF: Shaw, Vince, Tippa, Wagner, Mills, Byrne-Jones (Ruggles, Harwood)
MID: Dangerfield, Hannebery, Hunter, T.Mitchell, Zaha, Lewis, Wells, B.Kennedy (Smith, Macpherson)
    RUCK: Martin, Gawn (Cox, Currie)
FWDS: Merrett, Hall, Montagna, Martin, Kerridge, McGovern (Menadue, McCarthy)
Thoughts on trades I’m pretty stuck!!! Cheers.

  • treloar or coniglio for gaff?

  • Already going menadue to mathieson, for 2nd trade which one should I trade and who should I get.

    Adams or Mills

    Boyd, Simpson, Montagna, Gray ??

  • Does anyone know why Laird isnt in ………..??

  • Hey guys how do these trades sound?
    Sexton> 1shuey/2thompson

    • wouldn’t get shuey or thompson. Can you get a def or fwd premo like gray or kelly? Shuey and Thompson aren’t premos but they gray and kelly are in those positions

      • I need a mid or i have to field 3 rookies i have kelly (for yours above hes so consistent get him imo) heres my team
Kelly Simpson Pittard Birchall DBJ Wagner..Ruggles Lee
Jsteven Parker Danger Gaz Isaac Smith Shuey*? Davis Blakely..Gresham Mathieson
        Gawn Jacobs..Currie Lowden
Dustin Zorko Montagna JJK Wells Hewett..Mcgovern Mccarthy

        • what I meant was sexton to gray or kelly in mids then move them fwd or back and trade someone to a mid later. This way you get a definite premo

  • Anyone know how long yeo is out for?

  • Someone mind helping me above?

  • Smith or Blakely on the field ?

  • D. Menzel > Petracca
    Menadue > J. Steven

  • Old man simpson or Docherty, cant split them !!

    • I’m going simpson, I think he’s more reliable and I doubt he would get rested he has great endurance. Go Docherty if you want ceiling though.

    • I think Simpson wins on being reliable and proven, plus his consistency this season.
Docherty slightly more risk, I feel more comfortable having a more proven defender on the field against Geelong, but Doch is very close behind, if not for his R13 bye I would get them both.

  • Kelly or Pendlebury? Thoughts?

    • Both guns go with what your team needs a def or mid

      • If you want pendles id save the cash and go stevens heavily underpriced for what capable of. If need a Def go kelly/ Docherty

  • Cash $435,800

Def: Shaw, Simpson, Seedsman, Tippa, Brown, Wagner (M.Adams, M.Rosa)
Mid: Danger, Hannebery, Titchell, Duncan, Ablett, Wells, Parish, Hewett (J.Smith, Keays, Macpherson)
    Ruck: Goldy, Martin (Currie)
Fwd: Zerrett, Hall, Dusty, Kerridge, Barlow, Petracca (B.Kennedy, Daisy Thomas)

Any suggestions, Thinking Parish to Jack Steven, then maybe Macpherson to Hopper (on the bubble RDT)

Kinda a waste having Daisy $430k, Bennedy $380k and Rosa $411k on the bench though..When I still have duds on the field elsewhere.

  • Coniglio great POD!!

    • He is starting to get pricey is the only concern, otherwise the guy looks to be beasting.

  • NEED HELP!!!

I know strange choice but trying to get sorted for buys while still improving team. TIA

    • Mate, these are all horrible options. None of them will make Top 6 in their positions. If you spend a trade on them now, you’re just going to have to spend a trade on them further down the track. Better off throwing a game now, in order to build a stronger team in the long run.

Speaking from experience having owned Seedsman and KK last year, and having Smith and KK in my Elite team this year. Malceski hasn’t been the same player he was at Sydney, and Henderson missed more games than he has played in the last four years. I have no intel on Savage, which in itself should speak volumes.

      • cheers, I know really struggling with trades this week. sitting in top 1500.
At the moment mills and menapoo are out and collins and someone else in at D6 cant stretch to docherty which is annoying. am also thinking pittard but doesnt help me with the byes!!! but might just go score and sort byes next week

    • Bye structure is good and all, but dont sacrifuxe overall team structure.

  • Cash 270k

    Trade options:
    1. Menadue -> Paine (Fwd)
    Mills (DPP) -> Montagna (133k)/ Roo (77k)

    2. Menadue -> Paine
    Mills -> Boyd (132k)

  • Fantasia and MacPherson out and bringing Sam Collins and T West with 257k in the bank? any thoughts??

    • Unsure on the JS of both those rookies.. seems to be a terrible sign for S.Martin that T.west is playing.

  • Mcpherson to Matheison
    Papley to Collins
leaves me with 200k for next week

    Papley to Matheison
    Stef Martin to Goldy
    70 k for next week

    • I was a beesdick away from doing Stef > Goldi this week. Trent West in is a great concern.

If I had the luxury I would.

You kook like you may have the luxury.
