AFL Teams 2016: Round 7

S.Mitchell is a late out!!!

5:15pm Friday 05/06/2016

Sunday extended benches are in. As already advised both Sam Gray and Dougal Howard are omitted for Port. Possible rookie targets Aaron Mullet, Hugh Goddard didnt make the cut. For those concerned , Darcy Byrne-Jones did make the cut, as did Jade Gresham. Next update tonights late changes~7pm.

6:30pm Thursday 04/06/2016

Teams are IN! Great to see Dayne Beams (Mid.) back. This could really help Rocky owners, and he is a great option in himself. Will his inclusion effect Zorko and Rich’s role?
Another debuttant named with Hawks Kaiden Brand (Def. $125,000 AF $128,200 DT).
Ross Lyons trolls us again, dropping Freos rookies in Brady Grey (Omitted) and Darcy Tucker (Omitted). Further Rookies carnage with Kieran Lovell (Omitted), Jacob Weitering (Shoulder), Aliir Aliir (Omitted), Sam Grimley (Omitted), Darcy Parish (Rested), Ryan Davis (Omitted), Mackenzie Willis (Omitted), Sam Frost (Omitted), Jarryd Lyons (Omitted). Small respite with Tom Ruggles (Def.) returning for the cats.
Brad Crouch (Mid.) is finally back for the crows, and he is still on the bubble in RDT. Elliot Yeo (Def.) is back in from illness. There are a few new names at the bombers with topup player Nathan Grima (Def) and we get to see Mason Redman (Fwd/Mid $165,000 AF $121,300 DT).
Despite the rumours Sam Kerridge (Fwd/Mid.) has been named. Don’t forget to check the Sunday games extended benches Friday ~5pm.

5:30pm Thursday 04/06/2016

AFL teams for Round 7 will be named ~6:15pm tonight. Stay tuned! At least one known Debut with Darcy MacPherson (Mid/ $125,000 AF $105,800 RDT). Dees duo Christian Salem and Angus Brayshaw have already been ruled out due to concussions. We already knew popular Defender Rory Laird will be ruled out for up to 3 weeks with a broken Toe. Trent Cotchin out with a broken cheekbone for at least 2 weeks and Kane Lambert out for 3 weeks with cracked rib. Good news for Jacob Weitering who only had a partial dislocation will likely miss this week but could be back next week. There are question marks for selections, with Sam Kerridge having shoulder scans this week, who will be replaced by MacPherson at suns, will T.Adams come back? There is also a chance this is the week Dayne Beams comes back.

There are only 2 Sunday games this week so bulk of Teams will be named tonight.

Sebastian Ross (Mid. $493,000 AF $508,200 DT) is looking to be having a break out season, seemingly at the cost of Armitage. He is averaging more than 100+ and seems to be improving as the season continues. You could jump on as a worthy POD.

rock
Sunday benches not named yet, but I’m calling this early. Tom Rockliff (Mid. $498,000 be 94 AF $ 521,700 be 72 RDT) in a show of pure piggery smashed out a 132. He has dropped a tonne of cash due to an injury affected 24 (deja vu anyone?). This is the week to grab.
Shout out to returning Dayne Beams who I would have chosen as my pick, if not for Rocky’s obviousness, and if anything his return will improve Rocky’s output.

Brett Deledio (Fwd. $522,000 AF $554,800 RDT) return of 91 last week didnt burn the house down, but seeing it was his first week back, it wasnt a flop either. Very much a viable fwd upgrade target and a POD to make your team distinct.

Flying under the radar behind Joel Selwood and Dangerfield, Mitch Duncan (Mid $464,000 AF $499,300 DT) has been scoring great. Don’t be fooled by his avg, which is low due to a concussion score of 16. His real average is 106.

Nathan Grima (Def. $226,000 AF $241,800 DT) was never that DT relevant when he was at North. But for such a veteran player at a cheapish price, his role and performance at Dons could improve this. More of a watch and learn, especially since reports are he has been out of condition.

Rookie options are starting to dry up, so new rookie upgrade Darcy MacPherson (Mid/ $125,000 AF $105,800 RDT) may save us. Much touted playing good NEAFL footy and one of Eades favourites, good games will keep him in the side. He did some good things over NAB cup, scoring 82 in one of his games showing he is capable of scoring well. I’d watch and learn for 1 week and see if he can cement his spot.

brouch
Brad Crouch (Mid. $421,000 AF $ 321,900 DT) is one more for RDT as he is on the bubble with BE of 14, and is very cheap. Still a valid midprice upgrade option for AF. Injury is and remains his biggest concern. Many still think once hes back to full fitness he will tear up the midfield, on previous form he is a ball magnet.

greene
This one is there for the punters. Huge risk reward. Toby Greene (Fwd/Mid $495,000 be 63 AF $ 536,500 be 64 DT) is a deadset yo-yo. With 2 scores this year of 56 and 52, many simply would write him off as inconsistent. Last 3 weeks he has managed to keep good scoring with 95, 141, 117. His ceiling is huge, and is one of those players that can make or break your team. If you want to take the punt his low scores are the exception, he could be a season making upgrade. Choose at your own risk.

  • ruggles against west coast at the cattery should score well

  • Who would be the best def or fwd option to get for 498k or under ?

    • can you use DPP and get rocky? or one extra K and get barlow? if not, probably toby Greene, but if its an upgrade i would hold the cash and get a keeper next round

      • I managed to get rocky in as well. Trades were Crouch and Laird to Simpson and Rocky but using DPP could get someone in any pos for 498k or under just not sure who.

      • sorry didn’t see the option for defenders as well, i would go 1. biggs 2. yeo 3. simpson ahead of greene haha, also accidentally changed my name to ben haha

  • field oliver (vs gold coast) or keays (vs port) if i already have wagner, petracca and benken on the field?

would usually go Oliver but 4 melbourne rooks on the ground spells trouble- thoughts?

    • I agree with you with having 4 dees rooks on the field = trouble. However, Oliver can score high mids (80 couple weeks back). I don’t know much about Keays but think they will score similar this round.
I reckon for 1 round only, fielding 4 melbourne rookies won’t be the end of the world and could be a masterstroke for you.
Sorry that I wasn’t much more help.

  • Should I go
    Laird to vince

    Or

Laird to N Riewoldt ( via tippa )
Then I’ll play tippa in backline, forcing Kent to go on fwd bench with the inclusion of nroo

So basically : vince and Kent or nroo and tippa

    • I would go option 2 as kent has the ability to get 10 and nroo a much higher ceiling. That being said, riewoldt burnt me big time back in 2014 so I would go zorko instead, although may get less midfield time with rocky and beams back but who knows.

      in short, option 2

  • I could get zerret (high be) Zorko etc instead of roo

  • Nick Graham is omitted again. He was up and about during NAB cup but had average scores throughout the season so far (except last week against the Dees scoring 108).

Why is he omitted again? Anyone got info?

And should I trade him out for Parker?

    Thanks all!

    • Not sure why he was dropped I didn’t watch the game, he could’ve got lots of touches but used the ball poorly.

It depends on your bench cover. A guy who’s that expensive but with poor JS usually means to trade him out, but coming off 108 he should make some more cash in later rounds if you can field someone like Keays or possibly blakely for a round (preferably someone better but don’t know you bench).

If you have adequate bench cover I would trade all the your maxed out on field rookies first- dea/tippa/adams/menadue/davis/maybe benken as they will potentially lose cash and not score well.

But with no mid bench cover trade him out, Parker is definitely a good option, possibly hannebery or rocky first if you don’t have them but up to you

      • Thanks Hotchicken.
Was thinking of trading out Callum Mills originally before learning Graham was dropped.
I have Smith, Oliver and Hewett as bench cover currently.

        • no worries, Smith and Oliver are definitely worthy to cover on the field for around if not more- mills’ DPP is pretty useful (wish i hadn’t traded him earlier). Have you got none of the aforementioned rookies on the field? (trade them first) If not, kudos, sleep easy for the next few weeks

  • Can anyone explain whether or not to keep holding T. Adams, I’m unsure about this injury, he’ll be a top 10 mid by the end of the year, so I want to hold, but if he misses another week, that’s another week without 100 on the ground

  • Anyone considering holding Adams?

  • Anyone going to hold Adams?

  • Which is priority… Getting Josh Smith in with such a low b/e and fantasia to Vince/houli or option 2 is fantasia to macpherson via dpp and davis to ROCKY? Thoughts appreciated

  • Keeping Taylor Adams on my bench so need to play either hewett or the new guy macpherson, any recommendations?

    • Hewett vs Bombers, and its not like hes gone bad the last couple of weeks.

  • Need 2 Def Rooks on field:
    DEF: Byrne, Ruggles, Harwood

    and 1 Fwd Rook:
    FWD: Menadue, Brown, McGovern

  • S mitchell is out
