AFL Teams 2015: Round 17

Its Round 17, and there are 25 changes to Friday/ Saturday teams and six confirmed outs so far for Sunday squads. A big in for the crows midfield.

P.S. Sorry that Teamsheet notes were late tonight. Modem decided to cark it right at the wrong time. Glories of live blogging :).

Fantasy Relevant Omissions :

Tom Fields (Omitted) – Promising blues defender rookie, didnt make the cut.
Liam Shiels (Corked Quad) – hawks POD with a nasty corky.
Brendon Ah Chee (Omitted), Nathan Krakouer (Hamstring) Port rookies are out.
Jason Ashby (Omitted) – another bombers rookie yoyos out of the team.
Cam McCarthy (Omitted) – it is theoretically possible some may still have.
Tom Nicholls (Quad) – POD ruck.
Jarrod Harbrow (Fatherhood) – Not really that DT relevant, but congrats!

Fantasy Relevant Inclusions :

Rory Sloane – Is it me, or is he back early? He is still very cheap.
Harley Bennell – Finally back after being away due to controversy.
Henry Schade – Some may still have this rookie on their bench.
Joel Selwood – back from his short stint out
Billie Smedts – Still rookie priced
Clancee Pearce – Those who still have him will be happy at his reinclusion
Sam Colquhoun – those who jumped on him and who devastated at his omission, can now have some return.
Patrick Karnezis – Im not touching (never again)
Tom Barrass – new rookie
Alex Browne – rookie in and out of bombers team like a yoyo.

New Rookies :

Thin pickings I’m afraid. No new rookies as such that wouldn’t have been covered already by Jeppa’s Juniors.

Tom Barrass ($120,000 AF, $124,600 RDT) is a sunday listed defense rookie for WCE.

Patrick Karnezis Fwd ($214,000 AF, $192,300 RDT) …just….no.

Billie Smedts Def ($196,000 AF, $200,400 RDT) is on the bubble for RDT, but really hasn’t shown much

Darcy Moore Def/Fwd ($238,000 AF, $182,900 RDT) also on the bubble for RDT, but…also hasnt shown much and JS seems terrible.

Liam Dawson Mid ($149,000 AF, $117,300 RDT) is pretty much the same boat (he lost value).

Other Thoughts :

Is it just me, but is there not a lot of DT relevant changes this week?

Rory Sloane is really really cheap ($471,000 AF BE 101.0, $462,700 BE 87 RDT) if people want to take the punt.

  • Hibberd to Malceski or Fyfe to Bartel?

  • Team is:
H.Shaw Ibbo Higgins Ox Yeo Hodge (Calquhoun, Edwards)
Fyfe, Ablett, Beams, Rocky, T.Mitchell, Grey, Lewis, Monty (Miller, Kav, Steele)
Dusty, Dahl, Hogan, Bartel, Swan, Daniel (Dale, Cox)
    Jacobs, Goldy (McKernan)
    $179K spare

playing RDT and have five trades left. Sitting equal second with no chance of catching 1st and no chance of missing finals. Trading Cripps – Bartel but wondering whether to burn another with Fyfe or Beams, and if so, to whom…?? Have enough cash and DPP’s to get practically anyone… Thoughts please..??

  • Help???Fyfe to Gazza and Ellis yolmen to kinight ??

Shaw, McVeigh, Hibbard, Mackie, Malceski, B Smith (Colquhoun, Bryne)

Hannebery, Fyfe, JP Kennedy, Priddis, Rockliff, Bontompelli, B Hill, Ellis-Yolmen (Amon, Neal-Bullen)

    Jacobs, Gawn (Cordy, O’brien)

Swan, Gray, Zeibell, Franklin, Gunston, Mckernan (Membrey, Lambert)

    Cheers!

    • I wouldn’t trade Fyfe, but that might just be me being stubborn about the media. Has anyone seen a club statement about it?

  • Have to field either Lambert or Knight. Lambert is named on ball but is playing Freo, Knight named on bench but is playing Suns. Thinking of playing Lambert still… thoughts?

    • Id go Lambert just. Aktins will be sub again Id imagine so woudlnt worry about that. Toss a coin?

  • Play Clurey or Jake Kolo

  • Which 3 do I play?- Oxley (inconsistent but form), Smith (most potential), Williams (Consistent) or Colquhoun (sub risk)

    • Is that Zac Williams? I doubt Colq will be sub but still wouldnt risk it so he should stay on the bench

      • Yep, he was my sneaky pick when I needed more money than downgrading to Malceski would get.

      • And thanks for solidifying my original thoughts as well!

  • Def: Newnes, Edwards, Hodge, Yeo, McVeigh, Malceski (Clurey, Goodes)

Mid: Pendles, Armitage, Rischitelli, Fyfe, Dangerfield, Lewis, Rockliff, Mundy (Amon, Dumont)

    Ruc: Goldstein, Kruezer(Holmes, Brooksby)

Fwd: Bont, Steele, Gray, Martin, Riewoldt, Titchell(Cox, Knight)

    $53K banked

Fark this has to be my hardest trades this week. Am thinking of Risky to Gablett and Goodes(Mundy into defence) to Lambert. What are your thoughts everyone?

  • And where’s Lampe today?

  • Dump Wines or Heppel for Gaz boys?

    • Hep…. There are plenty of very good PORT midfielders, which means Wines won’t cop all the attention… Heppell will!

  • I’m a No Bench Nicholas this week.

  • DEF: Hodge, Boyd, Mundy, Mcveigh, Newnes, Ibbotson ( J.Kolo, Fields )
MID: Pendles, Armitage, Fyfe, Rockliff, Treloar, Parker, Beams, Barlow(Knight,Smith)
RUCKS: Jacobs, Goldstein ( Cox, Holmes )
FWDS: Swan, Gray, Dusty, T.Mitchell, Ziebell, Mckernan ( Lambert, Byrne )

$67k in the bank. Which option is best.
    1) Ibbotson > Colquhoun & Barlow > Ablett
    2) Ibbotson > Browne & Mckernan > Bartel
    3) Something else ?

    • I’d probably look to get Ablett in… But I wouldn’t bring in Colquhoun, way too late

    • Im in a very very similar boat with my AF team (although my team is heaps worse), I have kern on field as well, and a couple of weak def (I still have mumba….yeah I know, and also rich)

Im thinking I will hold kern on field at least 1 more weak, and selecting one of my mids to grab gaz.

Is gaz must have? Probably not. But after last weeks performance you have to seriously consider culling one of your weaker mids to get him in.

Id consider looking to cull Kern to a rookie (you might risk playing the rookie or Lambert on field).

You could move Kern to your r3 and grab like a downie (his JS is good, and his role will be to sit on your ruck bench gathering cash) but yes, that leaves your fwd bench vunerable

I’m considering colq as a onfield player as well, but that is an absolute huge gamble. (can we be sure he holds his spot, or isnt sub?) and he really isnt cheap enouugh to seriously consider as a cashcow.

There doesnt seem to be an easy answer Im afraid.

  • forced to trade fantasia to atkins or walsh to afford cripps to ablett. which one is the better choice?

    • Much of a muchness. Maybe just go with whoever has the easier opponent this week.

  • Field S.Edwards (ess) or JKolo

  • Sorry bout the late notes tonight crew. Silly modem decided to cark it (went over to a friends house and borrowed a spare one they had).

Although, really, I was stretched to find much to write about tonight. There really hasn’t been that many DT relevant changes.

  • Bring in McVeigh and birch or mundy and eski?

  • Colquhoun worth getting in for Ibbotson ?

    • Haha no way… Poor JS and is a sub risk (although I think he will avoid it)

  • Field McKernan or Leue?

  • Who’s the better choice, Ebert or Heppell?

  • Hmmm If i was to trade one mid premo for Gazza, who would be best. HepD (out of form), Beams (looked really sore), parker (Erratic scores) Neale (Erratic scores)

    • Can you help me above Shags . Trying to finish in the top 3 Overall. Is Ablett a MUST have

    • Hey Shags .. i did Beamer to Gaz .. at worst they would score around the same at best Gaz would smash it,,Beams looked pretty sore last week and now everyone knows he is carrying his shoulder…

    • I would say HepD would have to go, very poor form

  • Steele or Knight?

  • Billy Smedts .. massive sub risk?

  • Thoughs on who to field and sub. J Kolo, Clurey or Tarrent.
