Golden Stubby – Round 18

Voting is now open for the DT TALK Golden Stubby for Round 18. This coveted prize will be awarded to the player who excelled on the weekend, taking into account price, form, opponent and whatever else tickles your fancy!

This weeks nominations (collected by @WarnieDT through Twitter) are:

  • Sam Gibson (133). What a massive score. We knew he had it in him being the mature age pick who was averaging big numbers in the VFL, but this was great – and in a time of need with a few big guns out.
  • Adam Treloar (121). Handy score this week for those who had him playing. If he is in your squad and wasn’t playing on your ground, you were very unlucky to have a full squad to not take advantage of this score. Backs up from his nice 108 from last week when he was widely used.
  • Jonathon Giles  (118). Probably shouldn’t get much of a mention after the last few weeks, but a few tweeted him in! Whether he was coming off the bench for a late out in Jacobs or you gave him ‘one more week’ because he was playing a Jolly-less Magpies, he repaid some faith!
  • Brendon Goddard (120). In his 200th he finally stepped up after a suspension and some pretty awful scores. He is owned by a lot of us, but he was another that helped us get some big scores this week.
  • Beau Waters (124). Did you hold him? Damn… that 3-5 week injury report is killing a few of us who traded him out right about now. Awesome score and will now be a POD for the finals!
Honorable Mentions: Gary Ablett, Jason Porplyzia, Marty Clarke, Andrew Swallow, Nat Fyfe, Cyril Rioli…

  • don’t know who to pick!!!!

but waters got me over the line to 2500 in the last game :)

  • Gave my vote to Treloar, for 106 last week and 121 this week, used onfield both weeks, great stuff lad! :D

Wow Swanny gets 159 and can’t even get an honerable mention? LOL, It’s a truely sad day for DT when the great pig is taken for granted to such an extent that he can’t get a mention for 159? Top scores are soooooo boring…isn’t top scoring the whole point of Dreamteam. Facepalm. :P

    • oh, yeah, great stuff Gibbo 133 outstanding score! Pity he was on my bench, grrr.

  • Giles,

I was tempted to get rid of him this week, but decided to hold another week.

Good decision, should have enough for upgrade now

  • waters just because gibbo was on the bench

  • I’m sorry but WHERE IS SWALLOW??
You don’t belt out a 160, beating the pig HIMSELF and NOT get the golden stubby!

I don’t want to live on this planet anymore..

  • Not even an honourable mention to big cox? did his hammy before half time and fights through the pain and a possible sub vest to bag us a ton. Where has the heart gone??

  • Gotta go Giles!
I gave him “one more week” instead of trading him for Maric… thankfully he came through and made a little more money and Maric has dropped a helpful $20k and still has a high BE

Congratulations Giles, U have just been given yet another contract for “one more week”

  • Given Giles’ form, it’s ridiculous that he gets a nomination and not the pig himself

    • Shhhhh…Calvin will chuck a massive hissy fit if you mention the top scoring player, better to sweep him under the carpet this week. Facepalm. ;)

  • Treloar has to get it
With all the carnage in our forward line the last two weeks, he has come of the bench and scored two great hundreds

  • Gibson and Giles on the bench so voting for Waters repaying the faith

  • Only have Goddard

  • Goddard, has had a bad run lately with poor scores but bounced back :).

  • Gibson should be on your bench so Giles or Treloar for covering donuts in Ruck and Forwards for me.

  • probably been said before but, not even an hounorable mention to the bloke we should have all had captain! regardless i am going Gibson, a trade to stevie j next week if all goes to plan

  • Voted Treloar as he has been brilliant last 2 weeks with 106 and 121 to cover for the likes of Buddy, Robbo, Sidey etc.

  • So many people winge.. please stop. there can only be 5 nominations not 15… and out of this 5 it has to be treloar… given robinson sidey and franklin all absent from our forward lines :)

  • Treloar for me.
Has been awesome the last 2 weeks on my field with 108 & 121.

  • Yay! Swan not getting a nomination for once, which is surprising to be honest.

    • The fact that Swan and Ablett both got 150s made captain choice virtually a moot point this round, so Swan’s scoring didn’t matter so much. Saying that, I think there were much bigger question marks on his scoring this week as opposed to last week. There was some chance that he would not care at all against GWS and end up with 110, but he certainly came through.

  • There can’t be that many people who had Gibson on their field surely.

    • Yeah I know, this time of the year you should have full upgraded mids. I’m expecting Treloar/Goddard/Giles to storm home

  • Swan didn’t get a mention koz we all knew he was gonna kill it thats why we all had him captain. Hardly a surprise. Giles and Goddard repaid our faith in them after a miserable few weeks and Treloar helped out a lot of people with the fwd line carnage. Beau Waters can get stuffed, traded him out after the 4-6 week diagnosis first came to hand…

  • Given I had no Robbo, Sidebum or Buddy – Hampton bobbed up with a nice 100 that won me all my games. For a player with an avg in the 50’s, I thought that was pretty handy.

I have to give my vote to Waters though.

  • Treloar Or Waters for me, I won’t vote Goddard just because he had 1 decent score after his crap season!

Actually Props has been on fir last 3 weeks I’m going porps! I needed him to beat Dr. DT in one of my leagues, I won by 40 points with 3 donuts hahaha man his team sucks, doesn’t he research this site?

    • Oh Porps was in the mentions not the votes, WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!

      Swap Goddard with Porps Warnie!

  • Lenny Hayes 130??? any1???

  • I love coming here to read comments from people whinging about things.

Why no Swallow? One nomination came through where there were multiple for the top 5.

Why no Swan? He did get a couple of nominations (oversight to not have him in the honorable mentions) but the top 5 had more than him. Probably need a ‘can’t win two weeks in a row’ rule or something? I don’t know.

Why use Twitter? Believe it or not, it’s an easy way of doing it for me, plus we get more followers out of it (hopefully) which is very important in marketing the brand of DT Talk – I won’t bore you with why, but we post links on Twitter and Facebook and the hits come to the site.

    • +1 warnie.
Gibbo was an absolute standout for me.
Its guys like him that make dt.

    • Is there away to use Twitter (nominate/follow) without having to open an account though?

I don’t want my twitter page, it would only be for DT/AFL purposes.

      • P.S. why no Rosa?!!!

      • A lot of people have twitter and just follow relevant accounts (clubs, afl, herald sun, us, etc) to get their info instantly. It’s good over weekends and checking during the day for the latest news.

Set one up, then reply on Sunday night… it’s not really that hard. If you can’t be stuffed doing that, then don’t complain! ;)

  • Why did Marty Clarke get an honourable mention? Thought he got 60 or something? Donut coverage?

  • Obviously the pig didn’t have much of a challenge, but there would have been a huge amount of coaches that trusted him with their ‘C’ and weren’t let down. For this reason he probably should’ve got a look in here.

  • Swallow for the win!!

  • My vote goes to Goddard this week. He finally gave me the type of score that i expect from him.

I also have gibson and as good as he was i can’t really see how he currently leads the voting because anyone who was able to actually benefit from his great score should locate the ‘delete my team’ button. Having a guy like gibson on your field (in your mids!!!) at this stage of the season is pretty crappy
