Calvin’s Captains – Rd. 13

With Macrae on his bye – Calvin had to earn his money this week!

Welcome back you bloody awesome legends to another edition of Calvin’s Captains.

CALVIN’S CAPTAINS – TOP 10

#1 – Max Gawn v Collingwood

Monday @ the SCG

Max Gawn should have a day out against a “Grundy-less Collingwood”. In the past when Grundy has been there, Max has scored 90 and 148, but this week he battles the rookie Lynch and Darcy Cameron.

Last week, the out-of-form Reilly O’Brien took on these two and scored a nice 111, his second-best score for the year.

Gawn has averaged 118 in his last three this year and in the past Max has put of good scores at the SCG of 125 and 132.

This Monday contest is a ripper and an easy fall-back captain option for your captain.

#2 – Clayton Oliver v Collingwood

Monday @ the SCG

Collingwood are still one of the easiest teams to score against, ranking fourth in the last five weeks for midfielders. Last week, Adelaide had six players crack a ton and Oliver has smoked these guys in the past with scores of 171, 96, 114, 127 and 117.

Coming off 86, I’m expecting a massive bounce back game this this fella.

#3 – Touk Miller v Fremantle

Saturday @ Optus Stadium

Touk has been awesome over his last seven games averaging 127, with three of those over 140. Although there is a tiny danger that he may cop attention from Serong, his form is too amazing to ignore.

#4 – Tim Taranto v Kangaroos

Sunday @ Blundstone Stadium

With rain predicted in Hobart, Taranto heads there averaging 125 in his last five this year. He met the Roos in Hobart in 2019 and scored a career-high 156 that day. Taranto loves a tackle and if it is slippery, expect him to lay a few +4s.

#5 – Rory Laird v St Kilda

Saturday @ Cazaly’s Stadium

Laird bounced back from his 75 with a big 131 last weekend. He plays a team that rank as the second easiest over the last five weeks and has awesome numbers on them already with scores of 81, 134, 101, 120 and 115 coming in his last five games.

#6 – Jack Steele v Adelaide

Saturday @ Cazaly’s Stadium

Steele is back and pumped out huge 137 last week. He scored 115 against the Crows last year and fills every stat line imaginable.

#7 – Aaron Hall v GWS

Sunday @ Blundstone Stadium

In round 11 against GWS, Lion defenders took plenty of marks. Andrews and Adams combined for 18 which tells me, if it’s reasonably dry, Hall could find plenty.

He has averaged 125 in his last five this year but… the Giants currently rank as the third hardest for defender this year.

Honestly, Hall could be anything this weekend from 90 to 140.

#8 – Callum Mills v Hawthorn

Friday @ the SCG

The top three midfielders who have played the Hawks over the last five weeks have averaged 119 – they are the No. 1 easiest team over that time. Enter: C. Mills who is averaging 108 for the year.

#9 – Cam Guthrie v Port Adelaide

Thursday @ Adelaide Oval

Guthrie is carrying a lowest 105 in his last five games and in that time he has hit 135+ on two occasions. He scored 104 and 123 against port in his last two games and if fit, he’s always a cracking option, especially as a VC.

#10 – Jake Lloyd v Hawthorn

Friday @ the SCG

144, 109, 126 and 120 are Lloyd recent efforts against the Hawks and as you can see – he loves playing these guys. He had 100 last week but hasn’t really yet hit the form from previous years. The Hawks are easy though so expect him to be great this week.
