Calvin's Captains

Calvin’s Captains – Rd. 10

Need a captain to score you 150? Calvin has your man right here and much more.

Welcome back you bloody legends.

Here we go again! After a slow start from our beloved pig last week, Rocky final got going and saved his score. Although 109 isn’t ideal, it’s ok for what it could have been.

Let’s get stuck into it because my confidence rating is once again very high as well have some absolute crackers to talk about.

Good luck legends!

EXPECT 150

Brodie Grundy is running hot at the moment with previous scores of 152 and 149.

He meets the Swans on Friday night and if you are prepared to run with a Friday night captain, then this is your man.

He scored 150 against the Swans last year and an impressive 133 before that.

The thing is, Sydney have given up the third most points to ruckman this year and even Tom Bellchambers cashed in with his second highest score for the year last weekend with 89.

Of the rucks against the Swans in recent weeks, they all haven’t struggled:

Bellchambers 89, Stef 125, Mumford 113 and Gawn 125.

Grundy just ticks all the boxes for this one and he should give Sinclair a bath.

A GIANT 190

40 touches and 18 marks is what you need to do to get 190pts. Take a bow Lachie Whitfield.

It won’t be that easy again as he heads south to the MCG where he meets the Demons. This is the thing though, they might even put some time into him, like they did last year when he scored just 51.

Alex Neale-Bullen ran with him on that day or will it be James Harmes who had the job last year on Josh Kelly who managed just 67 himself. Melbourne won that day by 55pts, it was winning move so I’m expecting them to roll with this again.

PIG PARK IN TAS

UTas Stadium produces the most Fantasy points compared to other grounds around the land. Its 15m wider than the MCG and 14m longer.

This will suit Tom Rockliff who has scored 43 (tagging role), 130 and 159 there in his last three games. Against the Hawks last week, the Tigers managed 6×100+ scores and if that’s any sort of indication, the pig will feast.

With an average of 116 for the year, Travis Boak will continue his run against one of his favourite teams to score against. He only managed 57 last year, but his form is awesome at the moment and just like Rocky, these two will be very tough to handle.

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHERS…

After a request from Draft coaches who like to ‘loop hole’ captains each week, here are the other options, in order as they play.

Adam Treloar v Sydney @ the SCG – Could he be tagged? Hewett is every chance to run with him. He scored 134, 117 and 109 in his last three against the Swans and should be ok, if he avoids Hewett.

Steele Sidebottom v Sydney @ the SCG – turning back the clock and is averaging 119 in his last three.

Jaeger O’Meara v Port Adelaide @ UTas (Launceston) – Only had 80 on the Power last year.

Jack Macrae v Kangaroos @ Marvel – Has huge numbers against North with scores of 118, 137, 102, 114 and 116 in his last five. 109 last week was better than what he has been doing.

Josh Dunkley v Kangaroos @ Marvel – 77 last week, far from a captain option.

Matt Crouch v West Coast @ Adelaide Oval – Should return this week to a team he has scored 120, 150 and 128 on in his last three.

Rory Sloane v West Coast @ Adelaide Oval – 68 on the Eagles last year and surely cops the Hutchings tag here, just like he did last year from that low score.

Andrew Gaff v Adelaide @ Adelaide Oval – Loves playing the Crows who he has scored 148, 112 and 116 in his most recent, but has to do it away from home this week.

Elliot Yeo v Adelaide @ Adelaide Oval – is back after a nice 140 last week but he has only 1×100+ score on the Crows in his career 8 games. His worst team.

Patrick Dramafield v Gold Coast @ Metricon – 158, 96, 119, 129 and 138 is what he has done to the Suns before – but you just couldn’t partake in the drama show, could you?

Tim Kelly v Gold Coast @ Metricon – Should be better than he was last week, but that couldn’t be too hard against the team who is the easiest for midfielders to score against.

Zach Merrett v Richmond @ the MCG – Tigers have given up the 2nd most points this year and Zach is coming off a nice 125. His history against the Tigers sits at 93, 102, 101, 152 and 115.

Max Gawn v GWS @ the MCG – Loves applying the Giants. Scored 120 (v Lobb) and 140 (v Mummy) in his last two runs against them. Had 125 last week.

Clayton Oliver v GWS @ the MCG – De boer tag on its way after he claimed Cripps last week. He scored 98 on the Giants last year and must be avoided.

Tim Taranto v Melbourne @ the MCG – 86 on the Demons last year but is coming off a massive 155 last week. The catch here is… he averages 102 when he plays away this year, 35 less than what he does at home.

Patrick Cripps v St Kilda @ Marvel – Saints are easily his favourite team to play and will bounce back from his 45 last week. Steele might run with him a little after his last scores against them are 122, 143 and 131. Bang!

Dayne Zorko v Fremantle @ Optus – ranked #2 on form with an average of 129 in his last three. Had 89 on the Dockers last year.

Nat Fyfe v Fremantle @ Optus – Only managed 2×100+ scores on the Lions from a career 9 games.
