Zero Hanger’s round seven injury wrap

The team at ZeroHanger have the latest injury news.

Collingwood hard nut Taylor Adams is set for a stint on the sidelines after sustaining a left adductor/groin injury in the third term of his side’s win over Port Adelaide on Friday night.

The tough midfielder tried to play out the game but was clearly in a world of pain. Adams’ injury opens the door for Brayden Sier to make his season debut against Carlton at the MCG on Saturday if he can overcome a toe injury, while Rupert Wills or James Aish could also get a look in.

Blues defender Liam Jones is highly unlikely to feature against the Pies after suffering a horrific head clash with North Melbourne’s Cameron Zurhaar when their sides met at Marvel Stadium on Sunday. Jones’ absence would be a major blow for a Carlton backline already missing Kade Simpson and Nic Newman.

Power utility Brad Ebert is under an injury cloud for Saturday night’s Showdown against Adelaide after suffering two head knocks against Collingwood in the third term. He subsequently sat out the rest of the game with concussion.

Richmond will be sweating on the fitness of key duo Daniel Rioli and Nick Vlastuin for Sunday’s must-win clash against Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Sunday night.

The pair both suffered injuries in their loss to the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night. Rioli copped a big knock to his left thigh, hip and ribs and despite playing out the game didn’t look himself. Vlastuin injured his ankle and his omission would be a huge loss for the already depleted Tigers defence, missing Alex Rance, David Astbury and Jayden Short.

However, Astbury is set to return after missing Bulldogs clash with his own ankle problem.

Geelong could be without Brownlow medallist Patrick Dangerfield when they tackle the Kangaroos at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The star midfielder was in the wars in the Cats’ win over Essendon, going down to the rooms in the first quarter with an ankle problem, before landing awkwardly on his knee in marking contest in the second term. The 29-year-old played out the game at full forward, but Geelong will not take any risks with Dangerfield given how strongly they have started the season.
