Moneyball’s $5,000 Saturday Slam

Wanna win some cold hard cash in Moneyball? Then Calvin has his best tips for today!

Welcome to the $5,000 Slamming Saturday Slam Bam thank you Mam.

Once again I have my top 6 picks heading into this big Moneyball contest and as always I’ve shopped around for a little bit value and therefore that should allow you to select your own premiums with some coin to spare.

$5,000 with the winner taking $650 and its pays $34.18 right down to 89th

Melbourne v Fremantle – 1:45pm
GWS v Port Adelaide
Carlton v Gold Coast
Adelaide v Essendon – 7:40pm

Rory Sloane (MID, $9,600)

“Calvin! I thought you were shopping around for some value?”

Settle my little friend, Sloane is certainly value this week based on the fact he could go 150+ against the Bombers on his home ground. He had 128 and 136 in his last two games against them and is in hot form at the moment.

He scored 139 last week, backing up the 152 he scored in round two. Last week, Carlton had 3 guys score over 125 on the Bombers, which leads me to think, that Sloane is value and MUST HAVE in your teams for today.

Andy Otten (DEF, $5,200)

Otten plays Ruck. He plays in defence and he also plays forward. Just make sure he is on your ground.

When he’s in the back-line, his scores can suffer but with McGovern out, I’m expecting to see him either in the ruck have a pinch hit, or forward against the Bombers and if the Crows get on top here (which they will), Otten should cash in for a nice number.

David Swallow (MID, $6,600)

After missing round one as a late withdrawal, Swallow has been on fire with scores of 89 and 120. Last time he played Carlton, the injure prone star scored 104 and should be good for another 90+ score again at the MCG.

Jake Spencer (RUC, $4,700)

At this price, Spencer is a steal as the #1 replacement ruckman for Max Gawn. He’s not going to set the world on fire but you might just get lucky and therefore need him on board.

Last year, when he actually got a game… Spencer did scratch up some goods scores of 107, 88 and 81, and with more opportunity… he is a steal and could do the same again.

Tom Williamson (DEF, $3,500)

67 last week from the Carlton rookie was enough for him to be named again for them on the half-back-flank. At this price we can’t expect too much, but anything over 60 from him will be a bonus.

Jackson Trengove (DEF, $6,700)

With Paddy Ryder on the sidelines serving his suspension this week, Trengove gets the nod to be the #1 ruckman for Port against Mumford’s GWS.

Pruess scored 105 last week against Mumford which is promising, but the fact that Trengove is the solo ruckman here and Lobbe isn’t even named is what tickles my fancy.

Early in 2016 when he was doing to task solo, he scored three tons and several other scores in the 90s.

Seriously worth using him as a flex option in your team today (I am), or even as you’re main ruckman if you wanted to avoid Spencer. But out of the two, my vote is with Trengove.
