Josh Kennedy MID $594K

Kennedy had a career high 107.5pts in AFL Fantasy last season, he scored 100pts or more in 14 games and converted 8 of those games in to 120pt games. Kennedy finished off the 2015 Home & Away season with 9 of his last 11 games exceeding 100pts or more with an average of 118.2pts, during this stretch he had 30 Disposals or more in all but 1 game (R13 vs Richmond). Kennedy is an outstanding prospect to fill one of your premium midfield spots this season, in his last 42 Home & Away games he has exceeded 100pts or more a staggering 27 times with 14 going over 120pts or more. It doesn’t appear Kennedy will slow down anytime soon, a must consider in your Round 1 team. Be aware Sydney play Richmond in Round 23 Grand Final for AFL Fantasy, the Tigers only allowed 120pts or more to 4 players for the entire 2015 Home & Away season.

Lance Franklin FWD $452K

Franklin is undervalued entering the 2016 season, given a healthy long term status he is likely to average above the 81.6pts from last year. Franklin averaged 93.3pts from his first 11 games in 2015, this included 5 games in which he exceeded 100pts or more with 2 going over 120pts or more. In 2014 Franklin hit 100pts or more in 11 of 19 Home & Away games, the only concern is that his quiet games can really hurt at important times during the year when a big score is required to keep your team competitive. Franklin will be a unique pick at Round 1 with many AFL Fantasy coaches fading his action, if you can cope with the variations in his scoring then he is a potential solid pick with a good chance of averaging 90.0pts or more in 2016.

LF4

Tom Mitchell MID $593K

Finally Mitchell was given his opportunity last season and boy did he reward those coaches that never lost faith, in his opening 7 games Mitchell averaged 110.7pts and amazingly averaged 147.7pts from his final 3 Home & Away games. Mitchell will be entering only his 4th AFL season in 2016, he has surely now eliminated any job security threats at the Swans. Given his status in 2016 it will be interesting to see how many AFL Fantasy coaches go with Mitchell early on, based on last year he will be a great point of difference for those that take him again. In 2015 Mitchell exceeded 100pts or more in 11 of 17 (64.7%) games with 6 (35.3%) hitting 120pts or more, when you consider he had a higher rate of hitting 100pts or more compared to Kennedy (63.6%) then the possibly of securing a lowly owned premium option in 2016 should be considered.

TM4

Dan Hannebery MID $613K

The Swans are full of premium Midfield options and Hannebery is not to be ignored, in 2015 he averaged 110.7pts with 12 of his 22 games exceeding 100pts or more with 7 going over 120pts or more. Amazingly 2015 was the first year in which Hannebery averaged over 100.0pts in a single season, furthermore it was only the 2nd time in his 7 year career he had averaged 90.0pts or more. Hannebery comes with a very high price tag in 2016, he is a relatively safe pick to average well over 100.0pts but there may be an opportunity to grab him throughout the season as a fallen premium. Again a reminder that the Swans have the Tigers in Round 23 AFL Fantasy Grand Final, there certainly are a few questions to be asked when considering Hannebery at any point during 2016.

DH4

Kurt Tippett FWD/RUCK $445K

Tippett will be closely looked at by many AFL Fantasy coaches as an option to begin the 2016 season, based on his late season surge averaging 100.3pts from his final 8 and 120.3pts from his final 3 Home & Away games you can understand why. Tippett was mighty ending the 2015 season, there were rumblings during the middle of last year that he may have even been traded away by the Swans but those thoughts if any were quickly dispelled by his great form. If you are selecting Tippett be aware that 2015 was the first year in which he averaged over 75.0pts in a single season over his 8 year career, throwing in to the mix of uncertainty will be the addition of Sinclair who appears headed for the No.1 Ruck role. It remains to be seen if there will be enough Fantasy points available for Tippett in a dual role as a key forward and ruckman at the Swans, certainly one of the riskier options but if his late season form of 2015 returns he could provide a great return on investment.
