The Sunday Knee-Jerk – Round 2

It’s not a rage edition, would you believe it! My team is actually performing reasonably. However that does not mean we didn’t all have our share of FMDT moments this weekend, just that they were mostly self inflicted! I know mine were.

kneejerk

It’s not a rage edition, would you believe it! My team is actually performing reasonably. However that does not mean we didn’t all have our share of FMDT moments this weekend, just that they were mostly self inflicted! I know mine were. The sub rule is becoming a real pain in our asses, it’s getting to the point when I bench my better rooks in fear of a vest. Nek Minnit, I’m 100 points down. So maybe we should play our best players on the ground ignoring our fears on the sub! Oh wait, no. That won’t work either, we’ll end up with single digit scores on our field… Might as well cop a round 2 donut. I just can’t wait for this season to settle, it’s all over the shop at the moment. However there were some legends this Round that saved my bacon, thank you Melbourne! Time to review the teasing few days that were Round 2.

The Legend

This weeks legend really should have been in my DT from the start. He is just so reliable and will always sneak under the radar. Jobe Watson (143) is a man’s DTer. He wins all the contested possessions, kicks the important goals but will also slut a few points for you as well. I just love watching him play and dominate, a great POD and should be one of your first upgrade targets. Love him. Heppell (147) is almost as big a legend, he just defines a DT slut. Collects a heap of ball in the half back line and is now pressing up into the midfield. Just not as unique. If you went with Hartlett over him last week, hasn’t that just come back to bite you in the ass. Oh boy. Hanley (124), Stanton (142), Goddard (121), Melbourne and O’Meara (100) deserve special mentions.

The Sunday Chop

He was ok last week, but Karnezis brought us to new lows yesterday. It’s never good to see a player spud, but when you see singles digits in your team… Ball breaking. 9. Nine. Neuf. Neuve. Nove. You get the point, terrible. Those who started Mitchell (18) over guys like O’Meara and Whitfield because he was playing GWS, I feel for you. The sub rule is breaking our necks! The quicker we dump our rooks the better. Watts (38) could make a claim for 2 in a row, while Greene (72) didn’t make the improvement that was needed.

The Clown

It could easily be me again, and half the DT community for getting our benches horrifically wrong. Making the right or wrong call could have cost you 150+ points. That’s massive… However this one can go to the AFL. While the review system was a bit of a clown again, the fixturing was even worse. Why have 3 massive games all on the Sunday. I wouldn’t have minded 2 high quality Sunday games, but you couldn’t watch all 3! especially when the Friday night game wasn’t exactly a blockbuster. Not to mention the Saturday night farce! Get it right please AFL, one of the Sunday games had to be played Friday/Saturday night, end of story. Clowns!

What we’ve learnt

  • The Demons are as irrelevant as Julia Gillard’s election campaign.
  • Melbourne have started tanking already.
  • The AFL haven’t got a clue.
  • Roy thought he was a certainty for the green vest, so Calvin has done his best to better him. He’s done a good job.
  • Watts is one of the worst number 1 draft pick in recent memory. Probably the worst.
  • He also looks like a peasant from the 1300’s at the moment.
  • The AFL officials forgot to check the updated weather forecast, why bother having a roof when your not gonna use it.
  • Bartel is one of the greatest last quarter DTers in history. Imagine if he bothered to try for a whole game.
  • The Dees asshole is currently looking like the Japanese flag.

This game sh*ts me

We thought the 4 emergencies system would give us some help with our bench decisions. Nope. There is no solutions with this sub rule in effect. I’d love it if the AFL found another solution to there grand plan, whatever that is. Every week I’ll have some would have’s, could have’s, but didn’t. Cheers sub rule! And that’s why this game sh*ts me.

Some late clown entries came in from the Geelong North game, close the bloody roof! The Pig has started slowly, I’m not even inclined to watch. I’m heading off to the Eagles, let’s pray for an eagles win! Hope everyone has less FMDT moments this week, personally I’m looking at around 2100. I’ll update my score when I get back. Cheers all, COYE!

Also hit me up with any suggestions for who you thought were the Legends, Losers and Clowns, plus what you’ve learnt the past week. I value everyone’s opinion!
