Why should I pick him?
Dangerfield has been promising to step up for years. In 2012 he did just that.
Like a postman dolled up in Milan’s finest…He delivered and delivered in style.
Coming from a mediocre average of 70.5 in 2011 (22 Games), 2012 started in a similar vein with Paddy averaging just 81 after 4 games.
Then along came round 5 and the “Showdown” versus Port, Paddy simply went BANG! 39 Touches, 8 Marks, 3 Tackles and 140 points of DT goodness. This one game made many of us sit up and take notice.
From that point on Paddy went on to bang out 11 100s out of his next 18 games at a Premo Average of 106.5 including 4 other scores over 130. This included a run of 7 straight ton’s between rounds 17-23 where he average over 120. NIIICCCEEEE
In 2012 Paddy showed us that he can be an elite midfielder and like the cistine chapel, has a very attractive ceiling. He averaged 100 55% of the time he played in 2012…if this number can bump up to mid 70% he will be flying in the same league as Pendles, Cotchin, Boyd, Beams, Watson.
The Crows have again been gifted a very nice draw in 2013 and this will assist Paddy greatly given that he plays some weak teams early. Let’s look at his scores in 2012 v opponents that he plays prior to his Bye:

Why shouldn’t I pick him?
The round 13 Bye does not help him, given competition with Swan, Ablett, Pendles, Beams, Watson, Murphy.
Every year Paddy finishes the season better than he starts, so he may be better looked at as an upgrade.
Will he start to get some more attention this year given the year that he had and the impact that he has on games?
Will Marc Murphy take vengeance for that shoulder knock in 2012 and call on his Italian Lygon street  friends to make Paddy “swim wiv da fishes”
Deck of DT Rating.
ACE– I think that there is a hell of a lot to like about Paddy. He is a super player and with the emergence of a very nice support crew in the Crows midfield, I see him improving nicely  on last year. It would take a good size set of Nads to pick him, but with the extended midfield in 2013, the Crows nice early draw and if he can avoid Murphy’s goons, I think that he could very well step up to Uber premo this year.
