Finals DT are what it’s all about. After a crazy injury plagued year the final 8 has been finalized and its knockout elimination finals time. Things where looking acceptable in terms of player availability and form leading into the finals. Until the king himself Dane Swan had a drink on a Sunday night and will miss the next two games. Swan will miss two, but an argument may stand to hold him if your team if you’ve finished in the top 4 of your respective leagues. Swan could be vital come the final games of the finals series, but does anyone have the luxury of playing a mid gun down or using 2 trades?

Sydney has been sweating on the results of Jude Bolton’s knee MRI after a stellar run of form. With experts predicting an ACL injury to the star swan, result’s brought good news as Bolton has been cleared of significant injury and will only be out for 4 weeks. Essendon’s poor run of injuries continues with Jason Winderlich and Ben Howlett ruled out for 3 and 4 weeks respectively. Both with Hamstring injuries, Essendon are going to have to have a long hard look at their training program come season 2013. Gold Coast are going to struggle to field a team this weekend with Dion Presita, Luke Russell, Michael Rischitelli, and Zac Smith all going down last week (time frames yet to be confirmed). Almost matching GC’s outs is GWS who will loose Captain Callan Ward, Toby Greene and Jonathan Patton heading into the blockbuster GWS vs. GC game this weekend. Callan Wards is the most concerning with the captain showing the early signs of Osteitis Pubis. Also referred to as “pubic stress injury”, this is a real concern for GWS as it has the potential to sideline the leader for a considerable amount of time is not dealt with appropriately.  Collingwood Tyson goldsack will miss with an ankle injury as will Geelong’s Trent West. Concerns surround West’s injury, as unconfirmed reports are that he may his the remainder of the home and away season.

Putting an end of Hamish McIntosh’s season, HMac has opted to have surgery on his troublesome right knee with hopes it will get him right for next year. HMac has been without a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) for the past four years and will undergo LARS surgery this week in order to stabilize his knee.  Melbourne’s Cale Morton will also not take part in the remainder of the 2012 season after aggravating his injured shoulder on the weekend. Morton too will have surgery in the hopes of having an injury free 2013 campaign.

The forward lines will be getting a boost this week with expected return of Buddy Franklin and Mitch Robinson. Buddy will be aiming to kick a bag full against port this weekend as the looks to take back top spot on the Coleman rankings. The only cause for concern would be how much does Hawthorn want to risk playing a bottom 3 side? Joining Robinson will be Andrew Walker who also returns from a calf related injury. Adelaide forward Kurt Tippet should be ok to play after his concussion related rest. Lets hope for no more head collisions or he could be in some serious trouble.

And that rounds it up. The injury list below is from afl.com.au and the Herald Sun. Some timeframes may differ slightly to official individual club releases and people with inside knowledge. So do some research before pulling the trigger?
