Good Trade, Bad Trade: Round 19

Good morning! It’s the last week of the regular DT season! A pretty important week this week as coaches are either in one of 2 boats. Hanging on for dear life to keep their spots in the top 4 or 8 by preserving their trades, or making a last ditch ‘Hail Mary’ with their remaining trades.

Good morning! It’s the last week of the regular DT season! A pretty important week this week as coaches are either in one of 2 boats. Hanging on for dear life to keep their spots in the top 4 or 8 by preserving their trades, or making a last ditch ‘Hail Mary’ with their remaining trades to make the grade, and then find a rabbit’s foot shaped 4 leaf clover at the end of a rainbow for some luck in the finals….let’s see who the fantasy relevant players are this week.

Defenders

Greg Broughton ($326,000 b/e – irrelevant)  – The man whose DT career is now officially over decided this week to figuratively and literally give us the finger, now having surgery on it which will end his season. Well we give you one back Greg! You are now on many a ‘never ever ever ever again’ lists and some ‘ I would still consider Shaun Higgins before I pick you again’ lists. Can you hold him as bench fodder for the rest of the season or do you need to trade to stay competetive?

Sam Fisher ($ 289,900 b/e 24)  – Once one of the DT kings of defense, Fisher has been pretty much irrelevant this season. Until now.  Other good points to Fisher actually playing is, he will make you $37k from the trade and give you good bang for your buck. Showed a bit with 79 and 95 in his last 2 and plays GWS and Melbourne in the finals. Gotta love the irony of this trade, trading out a plyer whose coach ruined his fantasy career for a player who the same coach made such a relevant fantasy player!

Tom Bell ($95,800, -79 ) The big blue rookie has shown a bit in the last 2 weeks, averaging 72.5, he is currently the most traded in player this week. While a good cash grab for Broughton, lets hope he stays in the team. It’s a bit of a coin flip if he stays or not, if the blues keep winning he may be pushed out for the experienced blokes(then again he could stay as part of a winning team?), but may stay if their finals chance are gone in the next 2 weeks. I hope you don’t have to rely on him playing.

Midfielders

Brent Stanton $407,000 b/e 132 Remember round 8? Ah, those were the good ol days! Stanton averaged 133 and cost  over $600k!  Fast forward 10 weeks and he’s lost $200k, 22 points per game average and is out with a hamstring strain for 1, maybe 2 weeks. Now he’s the most traded player out!

Marc Murphy  $400,200 b/e 76 I talked him up last week and he repayed me 113. The best value by a country mile around that price, this trade mayhave still been as popular even if Stanton was fit!

Dane Swan $603,800 b/e 89 – you will likely need 2 trades to get him in from Stanton but who cares? If you have any spare trades use them. the third most popular player traded in this week and the third most popular trade. Swan is the singular reason (by not having him) I am going downhill this year. My pride wont let me get him in.

Rucks

My mate suggested I comment on Giles and his ability to continue as R2. Screw you Jon Giles. That is all.

Forwards

Lance Franklin $511,500 b/e 163 – if you are like me and you have been super patient and held him for the past 3 games, you idiot. Anticipating Franklin was going to back this week, hoping he will be hitting his straps for the finals next week, it seems that he is likely to miss this week and still no guarantee for next week.  The 5th most traded out player this week, he may need to be traded if you are throwing the kitchen sink this week for survival.

Nat Fyfe $380,400  b/e 80– he’s back! and the 2nd most traded player in this week! returned last week and has hit the ground running with a very respectable 89 and has a very reachable break even this week. Makes a lot of cash out of the buddy trade and will give a similar output (actually, maybe more, as he is playing).

So are you throwing the kitchen sink and hoping for a ‘Hail Mary?’ this week? Is Nat Fyfe going to be your lucky charm? What do you want to do Greg Broughton?

Discuss it all here!
