Good Trade, Bad Trade: Round 18

Well I’m back on board this week after a week off to deal with this thing called ‘life’ and now I feel recharged and pumped to get back into dreaming of trades. Millions of them. Have you got any trades left? Are you saving them for 2 weeks? let’s see who has some currency to bring in to your team and who has played their last game.

Um, pick me?

Looking at the stats on assistant coach this week,  trading is starting to severely slow down, and there is no real popular players being traded in and out. Obviously a few reasons for this; 1. no one has any trades less 2. People are now less interested cos their team is firetrucked and 3. people’s teams are somewhat complete.  currently, the most traded in person this week is Tom Couch, but he doesnt feature in any of the top 10 trades of the week so it’s all a bit random. ill take a look at some popular players, rookies with something resembling job security and a couple of smokeys you may have never considered…..

Defenders

Jack Grimes ($407,800 b/e 35) ol’ Grimey has been in some good form recently, averaging  105 in the last 3 weeks. Grimes now seems to have overcome his injury proneness, playing 15 out of a possible 16 games and is taking the captain mantle on very well and leading by example. Now having more midfield time, he looks a good upgrade to any backline.

Nat Grima ($340,000 b/e 71) Yes, Nat Grima. if you are looking to trade out the DT dark lord Greg Broughton, but have limited cash, Grima could be a good option. while he doesnt score spectacular scores  (only 1 ton this year) he is SUPER consistent, with a consotency rating of about 8 ( that means he, on average, scores bewteen 71 and 86 every game).  With an average of 79, Grima would be great as a D7/8 for the final series as he will give you a guaranteed 70 points on the field. Could be the difference and better than a Bugg stinker.

Mark Baguley ($85,800, b/e -77) The only reason you’ll be bringing in this bloke is in is to make some cash to use elsewhere or opening up a DPP in the mids. Job security is always a bit shaky, but hopefully he aint gonna have to play for you. Still the best of the rookies!

Midfielders

Who am I? I am currently the 8th most expensive DT player int he competition, yet only owned by 1.42% of teams. I am ranked 12th overall in Dream Team 2012 yet never even get a consideration. That’s right, I’m Mr Unpopular, Shane Tuck ($491,900 b/e 134).  What does this bloke have to do to get a mention? Has finally got some good job security and has tonned up 10 of his last 14 games. While you may get laughed at for having him in your team, you could well be laughing last when he smashes a huge score against Port in rd 23.

Marc Murphy ($384,000 b/e 69) Murphy has finally rid that 27 out of  his system and bottomed out. Cheap as chips and huge bang for your buck here. an extra $100k for Sam Gibson anyone? Now that’s midfield depth!

Anthony Miles ($104,200 b/e -113) Once again a good cash grab here if you need some extra moolah. If Sheedy is keen on giving everyone a fair crack this year, his JS may sure up. Once again you hope that he doesnt need to play, but always useful when they have the green dot next to them on a Friday ( like my mate RM, who has patiently held him since round 12 – good work mate).

FRucks

Jon Giles – The most traded out player this week. Obviously traded out by all the loyal coaches who persisted and hoped he could find that early season form. Alas he has not and slumped to a 5 round average of 57. Would love Chopper to give him the chop.

Tom Bellchambers ($331,600, b/e 12) Never thought I would be writing this bloke’s name. Bellchambers has made the most of an injured Ryder and an aging Hille to put out 97 and 114 in his last 2 outings and become quai fantasy relevant. cheap as chips but you would wonder if he can continue this form…..

Forwards

Tom Couch ($85,800 b/e -89)*sigh* Couch is the most popular trade IN this week, involved 6% of all trades. JS may sure up if Neeld wants to put put some games into the kids so may be ok as a M8/F9. will be handy for cash generation and opening up a DPP between mids and fwd. My pride will not allow me to bring him in. I’ve already done that and traded him back out.

Matthew Wright ($398,900 b/e 38) Great little smoky that mate in my league picked up a while ago. Super unique and only in 1.3% of teams and a 3 rd average of 109. Wright has the mid DPP and the crows have their soft draw so he may just continue this purple patch. My mate should be bragging about this pick, and not Scott Selwood.

So what are you doing with trades this week? have you got any trades that you can’t to do because of pride?

Discuss it all here!

give me a follow on @jimbobholder on the twottersphere.

Also a big shout out to my fellow school alumni @jeppaDT. Doing a great job of the rookies!
