Mzun-gone: Tendai Mzungu injures knee

Do we have a MID/FWD DPP Curse? First Callinan and now Mzungu look to miss the start of the season. Mzungu is having scans, so nothing is confirmed as yet… but it doesn’t look good.

Fremantle’s Tendai Mzungu was on track to be one of the most selected players this season in AFL Dream Team. At under $100K and named as a MID/FWD, he was the backbone of a lot of teams with many people starting him. Now after Ian Callinan‘s torn bicep last week, we seem to have a “DPP Curse” as Chook puts it.

Mzungu was helped off the ground in the first quarter of the NAB Challenge match against the Eagles and taken straight to the rooms. The Dockers confirmed on Twitter that it was a knee injury and he is off to have scans.

Fingers crossed there is positive news… but it’s probably now time to get Tendai out of your Dream Teams for a serious structure reshuffle. Sucks because he was having a smashing pre-season with scores of 77 and 78 in the last two weeks.

To find some silver lining here, if he is out for a while, Nick Lower will be a dead certainty to be upgraded from the rookie list.
