So... did you do it? Did you follow the advice you were given, and did you do the 'captain loop hole' taking Bryce Gibbs' massive 147? "Oh but it wont work Calvin..." ha ha LOOP THAT BROTHER!

If you didn’t hear… Bryce Gibbs’ had 147!
Did you follow the advice you were given and lock Bryce in as “VC”?
I certainly did and therefore will not be calling on Dane Swan this week to beat it. Although he actually might, the risk isn’t worth it. I was calling Dane in for anything under 125, but Bryce did the job. I’m over the fact that Foley had 24 and was subbed out (what a SHIT rule)…. but with 147 in the captain account… I’m happy for now.

What did you do with the loop hole?

BigAdz tells his story about Dream Team. Unfortunately, this is our story too (and we're sure the same for a lot of others)! We sat around laughing very hard at this! Sit back and enjoy!

It happened again last night… like it did the night before that, and the night before that.

I’m in bed about to drift off to sleep when my mind starts pondering whether I should trade Palmer for Fyfe. If I do this what can I do with the extra 22k? My eye springs open…and there it goes, sleep can be forgotten about for the next few hours as my mind goes over the calculations and permutations. With that 22k I can trade Vickery down to Derickx, McEvoy down to Petrie and I can afford Hale on the forward bench! Why didn’t I think of this before??? Should I get up and do it now?

I keep trying to force sleep. Why can’t I think about naked ladies like normal people? OK let’s give it a try; let’s try a 3-some. Hmm it’s working! There I am with two ladies…..this is going to be awesome! As I drift off to sleep the 2 ladies get to work, then my mind goes again, two ladies; that reminds me of DPP, do I have enough links to the Mids and backs? Immediately the ladies disappear in a puff of dust as Mzungu’s face enters my mind….. Why did you have to do your knee, clown!

This has been the story of my life for the past few years. That’s right I’m no regular one season addict. I have to suffer through my Dream team addiction in footy season, then through the Fantasy Premier league in the off-season, my addiction knows no bounds. You should see me in the crossover month when they are both playing! I’m like Tom Cruise in Minority report standing at the screens relentlessly moving items from place to place.

At first my long suffering partner would get upset with me, she thought I cared more about Dream team than her. My usual response would be “Well would you prefer that I was a junkie in the gutter? Or that I had a safe innocent hobby?” I now know in fantasy terms I am that junkie in the gutter. It’s hard to know when my addiction turned from a few lines on the top of a toilet seat to injecting into my eyeballs but I guess I should have seen the signs when I preferred to watch +3’s and + 6’s flash across a screen rather than watch an actual game of football. When you sit there watching those numbers flash by like the Matrix, ignoring the calls for Monty to give Peake the spud or for players to lift or stay down… I guess that’s when you know it’s gone too far.

At least Dream team is on during the day, it’s plausible to check your phone for scores in a restaurant – any excuse can be made, Just texting my mum! But with Fantasy Premier League its different, it’s all happening during the night-time hours. Trying to sleep is impossible, it’s like being a kid on Christmas Eve knowing Santa is coming…what points will he leave me in the morning??? On more than one occasion the suspense has been too much. I’ve gone to the toilet brandishing my phone only for girlfriend to see the glow and bust me in there….either way I’m in trouble, who would you be on the phone to at 4am? It’s either a girl… or the old fantasy football…Again.

I know only the car will turn her, only then will she know all this was not in vain. No matter how many times I tell her I’m in the top 50 in the world! It does not impress her one little bit. Once I win that car it will all be sweet. That is why I lie awake at night wondering about Palmer or Fyfe.

My name is Adam… and I’m a fantasy sports addict

“Yeah, im on a drug, it’s called, Cousins Coke n Ice!, Its not available because if you take it, your Dream team will melt off your screen and your rookies will break legs Barlow style!”

Fellow DT’ers! Thanks for the fabulous feedback on last weeks DT Dreaming with The Cuz! Im impressed by the passion some of you have for Dream Team and im happy I had a small impact on all of your lives! You all (quite rightly) shut down the theory of no Gold Coast Gold!

There was some serious backlash from the DT community out there (You all know who you are!) and now I will conclude my experiment (That’s right experiment, congrats to those who figured I was taking the P I double 5) and Ill explain the reason for the article in the first place. As you may have noticed, there were referrals to the supposed ticking time bomb that is Charlie Sheen.

I’m a big believer that the Charlie Sheen that is being portrayed out there is purely a mock up (fake for those of you who don’t know what that means!). Lets be honest, what an awesome job he has done of it! This is a bloke who has been on screen for 18 years, living his life in a way that us mere mortals could only dream, and is having fun playing the world for a fool! His commercial value has increased exponentially on the back of his rants and raves, and excellent use of his Barbie Doll ex porn stars that now live with him (Brilliant product placement I may add!). His experiment (at least I hope it is an experiment!) may last for a while, and a lot longer than mine has (1 week total!) but be damned sure, the next project he does throw himself into, will make him the highest paid TV or movie star in the history of the world! Hopefully Cousins Coke n Ice can do the same thing! LOL (I’m kidding)!

Now what has this got to do with my previous article I hear you ask. Basically, I was thinking the day I wrote the article, how much of a genius this guy is in getting himself noticed. Poking fun at the establishment, all just for $hits and giggles. Why? Because he can! I truly believe he has the entire world fooled that he is completely off the rails! It was at this stage a light bulb went off in my head and I thought to myself, “How can I use this to make DT more interesting?”

Let me digress for a second. There is a reason I thought this way. I have written 8 articles now for the lads to help ensure new content is finding its way through the website whilst the boys are busy being School teachers. Trust me, it is not easy finding new ways of saying what everyone is saying in the forums everywhere, and the idea of mixing it up a little, and bucking the trend of convention seemed like a good idea! I’m sure all of you are getting sick of reading the same old stuff!? How can I jazz this up and keep people interested!

I concluded that as an experiment, I will see how educated the DT talk public actually are! I had a feeling based on previous posts and forum conversations in recent weeks, that there were a lot of coaches out there that would be sheep and follow the crowd on this, and thought that my crazy idea may actually gain some traction! Alas, my conclusion is as follows: I was wrong! Its official, users of the website www.dreamteamtalk.com are by far the most knowledgeable and savvy DT Coaches in the world! Well done to you all!

Now to further business. These are the genuine thoughts (no experiment this time around).

Of course no GC players is a stupid idea. One night drunk I considered it, but never really believed it was a good idea.

Make no bones about it; Gold Coast rookies for DT land have the most job security. One thing we encounter every year is trying to find rookies that are actually guaranteed game time during the season. A must for a rookie in DT land. Believe it or not, what your bench consists of is possibly the most important decision you will make when formulating your DT Team this year.

The 2 reasons for this are as follows:

Coverage. Especially this year, there is a higher emphasis on having bench cover this year with the inclusion of a Bye or byes each round. Depending on how many players you have from one team in any given line, when they have a bye, you don’t want to be burning trades just to cover them off. Having a good spread of playing bench players could be the difference between winning and losing league games, or thousands of positions in overall rankings.

Upgrade Power. You need to ensure you have rookies that are increasing in price so you can sell them off for profit later in the season. My tip is to have a close look at Richmond, Port and Essendon rookies who have their first byes last. This will ensure that come those rounds, your rookies will have had the best chance to “value” before trading them in for cheaper blood (hopefully Callinan is cherry ripe for the picking around these rounds!)

Anyway, I have bored you all to death for long enough! On a side note, im a big boy and I am more than happy to cop criticism, if anything I think criticism if taken and delivered in the right light can actually assist you. But in all seriousness, getting personal with any guest writers on here is simply juvenile, and I hope that some of the comments some of you post up here don’t scare further people off helping the boys out with some interesting reading material that may help shape your dream team. How about all the haters out there actually put pen to paper and whack their nuts up on the line! It’s easy to throw stones in the forums!

That’s all from me this week, may all of your kicks be goals and your Rookies absolute Jets come the start of the season. Im taking off on a jet plane to Margaret River for my mate Wades wedding next week, then scooting over to Bali to enjoy his honeymoon with him and 20 of my closest mates so will not be in the country for Round 1. Disastrous for DT selection, but I will be doing my utmost to ensure that I can watch all the action at a bar over there and keep track of how CC&I is travelling against the rest of the world of DT!

Any suggestions of the best bars to watch the footy over there would be appreciated in the forum posts below as well! Talk to you all around round 2!

Cheers,

Cousins Coke n Ice

Firstly we’ve all done it. If you haven’t done it, you have at least thought about doing it and joked with your mates... so what bizarre teams have you thought about putting together. Join Calvin as he shows you some members he has in his McCrappy team.

Firstly we’ve all done it. If you haven’t done it, you have at least thought about doing it and joked with your mates… so what bizarre teams have you thought about putting together. Join Calvin as he shows you some members he has in his McCrappy team.

Backs:
Ashley McGrath headlines this McCrappy team in my backline, with the likes of Adam McPhee playing a supporting role. McCrappy by name, McCrappy by nature! Shaun McKernan is a rookie in here though that has showed some promise this year and will most likely be captain in this average team.

Mids:

Jarrad and Mark McVeigh get a run in the guts here along side Jordie McKenzie and Ben McGlynn. Patty McGinnity and Luke McPharlin fills up the other spots. Not the greatest midfield going around, and with me now wishing there were some guys in the AFL called McSwan or McAblett.

Rucks:

Dont actually look that bad. Ok, they’re bad but could be worse. Ben McEvoy and Hamish McIntosh are a solid combo, but certainly no Cox and Sandi combo.

Forwards:

Ben McKinley makes his first dream team for 2011 due to his name and the theme I’m trying to get going here. Teams like this even give guys like him a chance. Who is he anyway? Andrew McQualter and Sydney rookie McNeil also makes and appearance.

And with about 3.5mil in my bank and a predicted score of 1,150 each week… it’s going to be a long season.

So what teams have you thought about making in the past??
