Ablett or Bartel or Corey or ALL? What little cat package are you looking at this week? It’s such a luxury clicking on the big ABC through the centre line, but this takes up half your cat quota! Personally this week I went for the B/C combo with a Mackie, Johnson, Ottens and Stokes as side dish. But what would I know? I’m trying a few roughies hoping some other more predictable dudes stuff up. But I’m going terrible in this as 2008 is not my year and I don’t believe I deserve Ablett. What I do know is … Captain selection. My hot tip: Read “Calvin’s Captains Rd 16” which was when both these teams met each other last. Plus read the work Aaron did in his Captain research (coming soon). Cut and paste the thingy below.

With the ladder nearly all in place with one roster game to go. There has been a lot of talk of players going easy. So I thought I’d look at these questions: Which players will be rested? Which ones will go easy? Which teams really need to win to move up or hold ladder possies? Check out my wrap of the round to come of which teams and which of your DT players need to ‘try’ this week.

We’re going to go through each position and look at categories of players to try and help you pick the right guys for your Dream Team. We’ll take into account price, DT history, pre-season form and whether Dream Team scores have an obvious influence on their game play! Each player will get the ‘must have’ rating out of 10.
The Big Guns:
- Chad Cornes ($439,600): 10/10 - rarely plays a bad game, moves forward and on the ball if he feels the need to boost his DT scores!
- Joel Bowden ($413,400): 9/10 - doesn’t take any shame in receiving cheap kick to kick in the backline, especially at the end of a quarter!
- Adam McPhee ($388,300): 8/10 - plays all over the ground, loves a mark which helps boost his score.
- Peter Burgoyne ($388,000): 7.5/10 - majority of kicks out of the backline come through him hence a great average. Age is a slight worry.
- Heath Shaw ($368,800): 7/10 - although it looks like he is injured and limping all the time, he still hobbles around to achieve decent scores for a backman. Carries the very attractive tag of designated kicker!
The Middies:
- Grant Birchall ($343,300): 7/10 - rarely has an opponent and seeps the half back line. Can push forward to get his kicks up. Will be a DT Gun this year!
- Tadhg Kennelly ($283,600): 7/10 - underpriced due to a stinky second half of 2007 due to injury, risky, but potential cash cow if he stays fit.
- Adam Hunter ($324,300): 6/10 - can be inconsistent due to his role but rarely misses a game and can get you a hundred.
- Michael Johnson ($300,900): 6/10 - rumoured to have a bigger role as a designated kicker type. This should increase marks and kicks for a noticable average increase.
- Scott Stevens ($283,500): 5.5/10 - has been playing forward and averaging over 80 in the NAB Cup and has kicked 50 goals from 81 games. A regular season risk depending on position, but is it a risk worth taking?
The Young Guns:
- Scott Selwood ($83,500): 9/10 - looks to be a certain starter. Will hopefully do what brother Joel did last year.
- Tom Lonergan ($92,500): 8/10 - has a big ticker and his NAB form exceeds his current price by over $150,000.
- Darren Pfeiffer ($83,500): 7/10 - averaged 59 DT points in first 2 NAB Cup games. Looks like he’ll cement a spot in the Blues line-up.
- David Myers ($103,500): 6/10 - has shown he can play at AFL level, handy pick up as a back or centre.
